Calling all FP experts - I have a complicated question...

But why would they care if you make it to the FP or not? It's not like an ADR where they lose money if you don't show up. If you miss an FP reservation, they just let the standby people in quicker.

I'm still trying to figure out why you can't just add it on the app--whether in the same park or a different one! What does making us go to a kiosk to schedule it really accomplish?

If you miss an ADR, they charge your credit card. There is nothing to keep people from booking all over the parks and selling it out and not showing up? I can't think of any reason other than this that you have to physically be in the park to book additional FPs.

I know about the ADR. That's exactly what I meant. They lose money if you book and don't show--thus the $10 per person charge. Totally understandable.

But that doesn't apply to FPs. Why would they care if you don't show for an FP? And I can see them only allowing one more at a time, so you don't just book everything possible and not use half of them. Again, understood. But why not allow you to book that 1 additional FP through the AP? That's the part I don't understand? Why make me go to a kiosk?

It might be an IT issue, but I can't imagine they couldn't figure this one out easy enough, especially after all this time.

they dont want to fix it so you can do it online that would make it too easy and expose the supply problem they have in epcot and mgm

We have been planning to do some park hopping but people in my life who go often have discouraged it because they say it takes FOREVER to get from one place to another. I'm happy to hear that not everyone sees it that way! Oh, and these same people are ones who like to take breaks in the afternoon and go back to their resort for a nap or swim. As if that doesn't take time, too?? lol

For the most part, our hopping is after the midday break so it does not add time. We sometimes do three parks the last day which requires park to park hopping. And, in the good ole days we would hit Epcot for AM EMH, ride TT geot a FP for Soarin' and headed to the MK. Sometimes we hit rope drop at the MK and sometimes we missed it by a few minutes. We would hop back to Epcot later in the day.

That's the same reason I don't expect to see 4th FP scheduling on the app any time soon.
