Ok, so this is my last minute post before we leave! Emily's choral performance took up more time than expected last night so I am running crazy today!
I still need to give Fifi a bath - she will be going to the station with Jim when he goes in, so she must smell good!:rotfl: I also have to pick up my paycheck and run a couple of bags to Leah. She is the friend who is coming down with us. She is going to bring some stuff in her van. I know I will get it all done - I just feel so discombobulated!!:scared:

Well, I suppose that is enough of a break!! Talk to ya'll soon!!:woohoo:

Ok so this really is my last post!

The car is loaded, everything is done, I even squeezed in lunch with my hubby at our fav. Mexican place. Fifi had her bath, the litterbox is clean, plenty of pet food and I even remembered to put the tickets in my purse!
Now I have about an hour before I go get James from school. I am getting him out about 30 minutes early. He won't miss anything because today is Spring Fling. They will just be finishing that when I pick him up. I will get the girls at their regular time (2:45) - it can be tricky to pick up someone else's child early. We are going to run home & let the kids change clothes and then we are off to the airport!!:drive:

I am going to miss you guys while I am gone - I am so used to talking to Sandy every morning! Maybe somewhere down the road there is an all girls trip to Disney in our plans! :grouphug:

Bye ya'll!:wave2: :wave2:

Congrats on the 13,000 posts!!
Thanks!!!! :goodvibes
When I was new on the DIS, I used to wonder how people could get so many posts :scratchin, and now I have them:) Post count doesn't really matter to me, it's just fun to watch them go up up up

Well, I gotta go and get ready for work
Have a great day today everyone!!!

Well, what do you know? Get a puppy and gain about three new hours to your day - because she gets you up at 6AM! :headache:

So, I'm actually here to say hello! :yay:

We went out to the mall last night and had dinner at TGIFridays - my meal was great, but the music in the restaurant was really really loud  The girls brought it up first, and then I was glad it wasn't only me thinking it. I had a coupon for a free appetizer, and then we had a gift card, so our meal cost us $9.95 :woohoo: The meal I ate was the Parmesan Crusted Chicken - it was so yummy!!!:goodvibes

After dinner we went into the mall and shopped for new gym shoes for me, and new white shoes for Stephanie (I realised yesterday morning that Steph had no shoes to wear with her First Communion dress:eek: ). We successful and found them all :thumbsup2 Then we just bummed around the mall for awhile and bought a couple other items.

The mall always cracks me up when you go on Friday and Saturday nights. So may older middle school, and then the highschool kids are there, and they think they are so cool:cool2: Did we think we were that cool at that age??? :scratchin I'm sure we did!!! Some of the girls we see are dressed like . It's cold outside and some girls are in short short skirts and flip-flops:eek: Were we that goofy??? :scratchin I was in my young 20's when we went downtown to the bars (I wore ridiculously short skirts:eek: but not flip-flops:sad2: I wore heels) I definitly know I wasn't younger than 21 when I dressed like this - my family and Kevin's family know to many people - someone would definitly have seen me, and then everyone would have found out about it:scared1: I never worried about this at Excalibur (a bar/club in downtown Chicago) in my 20's:laughing:

Karen - I hope you are having a great time at WDW!!! :cool1:

AmIThereYet - So so so good to see you!!!!!! How's the new puppy doing - he's so adorable!!!!! :goodvibes How's the real estate industry doing by you? I hope it hasn't been to bad for you :wizard: Did you know that I'm not doing real estate anymore, and that I opened my own business? I have a custom picture frame store now in my town, and I'm loving it!!! It's keeping me busy, but in a good way. The girls are able to be at work with me everyday, and I love that too. This business is a wonderful thing!!!! :goodvibes

Well, I gotta run and get ready for church
Have a good day today everyone!!!

I'm so mad at TGIFridays! They took away the most awesome dish last year. It was pulled pork, on the bone, that they served over onion straws. It was absolutely wonderful!

I always see those girls and wonder what in the heck their mothers must be thinking, letting them go out like that! The things they wear nowadays are so provocative. :scared1:

I wanna be at WDW. :sad1:

I'm glad your business is going well! I used to be able to bring my two with me to work when they were little. Isn't it great?

The RE industry is holding steady here. We had a 5% dip last month, but my husband is staying busy, and since I work foreclosures, I am too. We hope it continues!

Piper is doing really well, but boy is she a handful! :scared:

Well, I gotta run and get ready for church
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Have a great day!

Hi Ladies!!

Just checking in. It's been a fairly busy weekend here. We had rain complete with thunder and lightening all day yesterday so we spent the day doing some spring cleaning.

Today was nice so we went to gather up some firewood a friend had on his property. Well I didn't actually help gather...I supervised!! We have bonfires all summer so we appreciate the wood.

I know what you mean about the young girls at the malls. My DD is 16 and won't wear a bikini. She says she feels naked. I guess when you dress modestly all your life going out in your bra and panties feels weird!! She dresses very comfortably...jeans, tshirts and work boots. The most skimpy she gets is for dance class. Thankfully all of the costumes have been suitable for public viewing. Some of the dance outfits..:scared1:

Gotta run...kids are waiting on me to watch a movie with them.

Yesterday I opened up my ipod Nano, and got it set up - that little thing is cool!!!!:) Kevin got this for me for Christmas, and I had to reason to open it up until now. He also gave me a gift card to ipod Tunes, and I started putting music on it yesterday too. I can't get over the clarity of that thing - it's amazing!!!! I thought CD's had great sound - and this makes CD's sound like records - it's just amazing!!!! So, I'm having fun with my new little toy:banana:

AmIThereYet - I'm so glad you are staying busy :) . I've been meaning to PM you and ask for quite awhile now, but then I run out of DIS time.
**Yes, Lab puppies are a handful!!! ::yes::
I had one (black) and he had so so so much energy. I felt bad that I had no way of allowing him to release this energy (walking, playing) because I was very pregnant during his puppyhood, and then Katie came (Kevin isn't home much with him being on the FD). So I talked with our trainer, who trains police dogs, and bomb & arson dogs, and he took Indy (the dog) and gave hime a career. I felt so good about this, but I do miss him - I know he would have been an awesome dog after he grewup. Good luck with Piper - he'll be awesome when he gets older - Labs always are!!!! :goodvibes

Kimba - We make bonfires too - they are so much fun!!!!  I can hardly wait for the weather to get nicer so we can start being outside again. We all feel better, sleep better, and etc when we are able to get outside and get some fresh air.

Well, I gotta run and get my butt outside - I'm walking with my new ipod this morning
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Well, I gotta run - have a good day today everyone!!!

Sandy - I know what you mean about your Ipod. I bought myself a Zune Mp3 player. My son bought himself one with his Birthday money and I loved it so I talked DH into getting one for "us". Well I have claimed it as mine:lmao:

I found podcasts...Disney podcasts:love: I really enjoy listening to them.

We have two dogs: A terrier mix (our outside dog - she HATES being in the house!) and a doberman (our inside dog). We got the Dobie when she was 4 weeks old, she thinks she one of my kids!! She's really funny. Part of our property is fenced in so they get to run and play.

Well I'm off to get my kids started on school.

Have a good day everyone!!

This morning I'm going to the doctor to discuss with him about me being hyperglycemic. Kevin and I are very convinced that I am, so I will need to get some bloodwork done to prove it (so I'm fasting this morning). The last couple of weeks I was feeling absolutly terrible (I never mentioned it on here) - like total garbage!!!!! After retracing my steps, I felt the worst after I ate a lot of sugars - which was very often. I looked up hyperglycemia online, and it described many of my symptoms. So starting Monday morning, I cut out almost all sugars, and I've been feeling awesome this week - like a new person!!!! Now I'm scared to death to ingest anything sugary, because the afteraffects are awful. So we'll see what happens at the doctor today - wish me luck!!!!

kimba - My mom has a friend that has a Doberman, and she is such a wonderful dog!!!!! :goodvibes In fact, my mom, who has a Beagle, and this friend, take their dogs to Nursing Homes and Hospices to visit the elderly, sick, and the dying - the dogs are trained "service" dogs. I always had a false impression that Dobermans were meaner type dogs, and this dog is a ***** cat - so sweet!!!!! It sounds like your Doberman is the same way :goodvibes :dog:

Well, I'm off to get ready for the doctor - I have to go early
Have a good day today everyone!!

Good luck at the doctors Sandy!! I hope you get all your questions answered. Not knowing what's wrong can drive somebody crazy!!

I know when I was first diagnosed with diabetes I was afraid to eat anything too! Now, 4 years later, I know my body and what I can and can not handle.

I'm having a hard time this evening. Food shopping wipes me out!! As much as I'd hate to have to shop using my wheelchair or a store scooter, I may just have to do that.:sad2: Sometimes I get so mad at myself and my inabilities!! Dh came home and said that I look like awful..so sweet:rolleyes:
He's right though. The pain just wipes me out.

I've been considering using my dog as a service dog. She has an amazing ability to sense my sugar highs and lows and she senses when I need stop..and often stops me!! She herds me to a chair or a wall..whatever is close that I can lean on! Pretty Amazing!

Well enough of my complaints!! It's a beautiful evening out and the kids are all outside enjoying it, letting me rest.:cloud9:

Have a good evening everyone!

So many hugs to you Kimba!!!
I'm go glad that you are starting to feel more comfortable here, so you can share your feelings with us. It really does help to know that you have friends that are hugging you, and listening to you, even if it's just through the computer:goodvibes We are always here for you!!!!! :grouphug:

You dog sounds really amazing!! :dog:
You are so lucky to have her!!! :goodvibes

I have no information about myself.
I went to the doctor and they took a full blood workup, and I'm going to go back for a 3 hour glucose test on May10th. I'm not sure how the blood workup is going to be, because I've been very strick with my sugars since Sunday afternoon. I guess we'll see!!!

Kimba - How did you find out you were a diabetic? (if you don't mind me asking).

Well, I gotta finish up some things here at the store, and then head on home. I'm hungry, and there's homemade chicken soup waiting for me :goodvibes

Have a good night!!!

Sandy - Thanks for the  I'm glad I found this thread. It does help being able to "talk" about it! Thanks for caring:hug:

Being diabetic - Actually I found out about being diabetic in an odd way. I went to the doctor in October for an infection (kidney or urinary-can't remember), they treated me with regular antibiotics. Well I had to keep going back every two weeks or so I just wasn't getting better. Finally I went back and got my regular doctor (he'd been away for awhile). He said "Hmm..this is interesting...ya know you may be diabetic. Let's check it out."

As it turns out when you have high blood sugar it actually feeds an infection which is why the infection wouldn't go away. He put me on HEAVY antibiotics, and sent me for tests. He put me on two different medicines and I've been on them since.

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes with each of my three pregnancies. It had gone away after each baby was born. But they told me at the time that it's very likely I'd have diabetes later on in life. Add that to the rampant diabetes on my father's side I figured it was bound to happen. Currently I'm the only one out of my siblings to have it, I'm the youngest too.
It seems that if something genetically odd or bad gets passed down I get it!!
My leg/feet problems are inherited too. Oh well, I'd rather have these problems then the ones my sister and brother have, let's just say they didn't marry well :rotfl2:

I've had that 3 hour glucose test several times. Each time they gave me this orange "drink" (it was more like syrup). To this day orange soda makes me want to hurl!:rotfl2: It wasn't bad the first time and I think they have changed the drink flavor. They take quite a bit of blood too. At least when I went they did. You have a certain amount of time to drink the drink. Then they take your blood at 1hour, 2hours and 3hours. Is it different now??

The blood work up they just did will be able to tell how your sugar was for the last six months. It stinks sometimes..I can't cheat too much:rolleyes1 It's actually good though because it gives a much more realistic look at things.

And Sandy - I'm jealous! Homemade chicken soup sounds sooo good right now!!

Did you hear about our little earthquake yesterday?
It was pretty weird!!!
It felt like I was on the cruise, and the ship just started it's engines to leave port - the whole bed vibrated, and my decorative mirrors in my headboard all shook - weird stuff!!!! :upsidedow

Kimba - Thanks for sharing with me about how you found out about being diabetic. I haven't had any infections for a long time, that needed antibiotics, and I didn't have gestational diabetes with either of my girls. Do you know, can you be hyperglycemic w/o being diabetic? I'm very curious to see what the results are of these tests. All I know now, is that I've been so strict with myself this week, and I've been feeling so great!!!! Even if I"m not diabetic or hyperglycemic, I'll be watching my sugar, because I don't like the way it makes me feel.
**I'm glad you found this thread too!!!!

Karen - We miss you!!!!!:grouphug: I hope you are having fun!!! :cool1:

Well, I gotta go so I can work out, and then get ready for work
Have a good day today!!!

I'm back!!!!!

We had a great trip! Always lots of magic! Emily wore her birthday button most of the trip and got lots of happy birthdays! She also got chocolate cake and the whole place singing to her at Cosmic Ray's - I wasn't there - she and Lila were off being teenagers. Things went remarkably well with my friend Leah and her family. We spent most of our time together, but did split up some. Emily really enjoyed having a friend there, but it made me a little sad to have to share her.
The weather was great! A cold front came through so it was really comfy! The one day we had scheduled to water park was pretty chilly, so we skipped that and went to DD.
P&PP was great! The parade was super and the fireworks were FANTASTIC!
Our first morning at EPCOT the CM started talking to Emi and James (they look alot alike) and invited them to open the park! Emily grabbed Lila and she even managed to get Noah over there so all 4 of the kids opened EPCOT. Then we were 1st at the rope and after some great character interaction we got picked to be family of the day at Soarin' so our group had an enitre theater to ourselves! I love Soarin'!
It was also Flower & Garden Festival so the flowers/plants/topiaries were just lovely.

Sandy - keep me updated on your doctor visists! Are you all ready for 1st Communion?

kimba - As much as I hate to hear how you struggle with medical issues, I love your positive attitude! You are so right about marrying well!!! Have you done the chocolate buffet with your DD?

am I there yet - welcome back! What a cute puppy!!

I miss the magic already, but when I came home I had a package form the Mickey Mom's Club. Did any of ya'll submit an application? Of course, I didn't get picked, but I love the stuff they sent me!

See ya'll soon!

Sandy - I did hear about the earthquake! How scary!! I'm glad everyone was ok - no reports of serious injuries...correct?

Karen - I'm glad you had a great trip and that you made it home safely! Sounds like you had some very cool experiences. Don't you just love Disney magic!!pixiedust:

It's a beautiful day here today. But I'm off to take DD to her private dance lesson. Teen Arts is May 2nd and she still needs to polish her dance a bit.
The Chocolate Buffet is next Saturday:banana: We can't wait!!

Tomorrow we are taking the kids to the Franklin Institute in Philly. They have a Star Wars exhibit going on and my DH and kids are MAJOR Star Wars geeks! I just go along for the ride - literally (I'll be in my wheelchair):rotfl: We haven't done an "educational" field trip in awhile so this is perfect.

Gotta run!
Kim

It's wonderful to wake up to sunlight here :sunny:
It looks like it's going to be a beautiful day!!!

Karen - Welcome home!!!!!
It sounds like you have a wonderful time!!! That is so awesome about the kids opening the park, and then you all having Soarin to yourself - how memorable, and how fun!!!!!  I'm also thrilled that you enjoyed the P&PP - I would really like to go to that someday:)
**I will keep you all updated on these test results ::yes:: Thanks!!! :goodvibes
**First Communion plans are going well :) I don't have to call anyone about them coming or not, and that makes me very very happy!!!!:woohoo: I can't believe it's next weekend  I think it's really hitting home for Stephanie that she's growing up. I told her, on the way to Mass yesterday, that this was her last Mass not taking Communion for the rest of her life - she was like this:eek: It's just wild how time has flown by so fast!!!!!

Kimba - Have fun at the museum today!!!! :cool1: We have alot of wonderful museums here in the Chicago area too ::yes:: We haven't been in such a long time, and we are due for a visit too :)
**There were no problems in my area due to the earthquake :sad2: Many people act like this thing was so HUGE - it wasn't :sad2: Not a single Precious Moment of mine turned or moved  It was just a little shaking.

Well, I gotta run and go dye my hair this morning. I gotta get the greys masked before next weekend:laughing: Have a good day today!!

I wanted to send out a quick "HI" before I go out for my walk this morning.

I hope you all have a good day today!!

sandy - good for you!! It's great that you are so motivated about walking!!

Have a great day everyone!

Hello Ladies!

The museum was fun yesterday...it was crowded and really LOUD in there though:headache: I think everybody came out to see the Star Wars exhibit.

The kids always get a kick out of driving through the city. It really takes them out of their element!! They can't believe some of the things they see:scared1:

Have a great day everyone:wave2:
