Calling all Fireman wives!!!

Yesterday was a bummer of a day - my washing machine died on me while washing laundry:guilty: It started making this awful noise, and then started making this awful electrical burning smell, and then died:guilty: Kevin called an appliance place to see if it's worth fixing, and they said it would in our best interest to buy a new one (because the price of fixing would be the same or slightly less than a new one). I was not happy!!!!!:sad2: So I had to ring out all that watered logged laundry (that was in freezing cold water), and scoop out all that water (Kevin was outside fixing the snowblower that pooped out - luckily he was able to fix that). After church I took my basket of very heavy, watered logged laundry to my mom's who is going to rewash everything for me:) Then after dinner we went to Sears Appliance and purchased a new machine, which will be delivered on Saturday. We bought a Kenmore and with a rebate we paid approx $425:thumbsup2 So, until I get the new one, I have a week of doing no laundry:thumbsup2 As much as that sounds great, I fear how much laundry I will have to do once I get the machine:scared:

Karen - I'm sorry you haven't been feeling 100%:guilty: I hope you get better throughout the weekend:wizard:
**Congrats to Emi and the rest of her squad:cheer2:
**How is James doing? Has he been starting to sleep better?
**How is Jim's back? I thought of his yesterday when Father Terry gave someone I know The Annointing of the Sick for her bad back.
**I'm not sure which shots she got:confused: The doctor told me, but I was to concentrated on keeping Katie relaxed.
**Thanks for thinking of Stephanie. The surgery should be very easy, and pain free, but I hate putting her under anestesia (sp?) I told her that before her surgery, she is going to get The Annointing of the Sick from Father Terry - she was fine with that:thumbsup2
**I would love 70 degree weather - it would make me so happy!!! :sunny: Fresh snow is very pretty to look at, but outside of that, I hate it. It's cold, it's messy, it gets dirty, dingy and ugly - yep I hate it!!!! I just painted a very pretty picture didn't I:rotfl:

Well, I must get going and get dressed - we have people coming over today. My FIL (and maybe MIL) is coming over to help solve some thermostat issues (we think we need to move it - my last NIPSCO bill was $560 and I don't live in a large home - just a quad level house). Kevin's friend, and Katie's Godfather, said he's coming over today to visit. So, I guess I should be showered and dressed for all these visitors:upsidedow

I hope you all have a good day today!!!

It's the start of another week!
I woke up at 3:30am to use the washroom, and I couldn't go back to sleep, because my mind was racing with all the things I need to do this week - I hate it when that happens!!!!

Have any of you heard, or have, the Wii game called Disney's Think Fast? We got it for Christmas from a friend, and it is so much fun - the girls and I have been having a blast with it. If you have a Wii, I would highly recommend this game:thumbsup2

Well, I'm off to workout - I ate a little to much yesterday and I need it:upsidedow .
Have a good day!!!

sandy - We LOVE Disney Think Fast! I got it for the kids for Christmas!! It is really fun! Emi is awesome at the card game! So you have a week of no laundry, huh? Next weekend will be busy, but at least you will get to use a new machine!

sam - Hi!

Kathy - Hi!

It's in the 30's here this morning, so I hated getting out of my warm bed! I think our high will be in the 60's. I will be happy when we get to it!

Have a great day!

Have I mentioned before how much I HATE WINTER!!!!!!

Today we have a high of 15, tomorrow a high of 7, Thursday a high of 0, and Friday a high of 7 :cold: We are also under a blizzard watch until tonight, and because of all this crazy weather, STephanie has a 2 hour school delay. Yep...I hate winter!!!!! :cold:

Karen - What other Wii games do you have? Anything that you think my girls would enjoy? I'm always looking for good and easy games for them to play.
**The weekend will be busy. Not only will I have tons of laundry, but we are also painting and redoing Stephanie's room. We'll have a lot to do!!!

Well I gotta run and get ready for work
Have a good day!!!

We are going to have a few cold days here, but nothing lower than 20. I would not like living in the cold!

sandy - we have bunch of Wii games. Some of the ones they might like - Playground, Wii Play (love, love, love cow racing!!!!), Rayman Raving Rabbids (silly - kids like it) and Wii Music. James got the Wii Music for Christmas, but hasn't had time to really explore it since he has been busy with all the others!

hey everyone!

so marc started his first shift on monday. unfortunately they didnt tell him he needed a background check in yolo county (where we live now) in addition to the one back home! He showed up in porterville and then he had to drive all the way back to davis to do the background info and then all the way back to the station again! total of over 10 hours driving! :scared1:

i was hoping that he would just stay in davis and start on sunday for the next shift. I really wanted him to stay because it was our anniversary. 5 years and the first time we've been apart during it although im sure there will be more. Ill find out tomorrow how his shift went, but it sounds like they really like him so far.

On a lighter note, I got my old job back on monday! :yay: A student left so I was able to take the place. So im already getting into a new routine, and hopefully everything will fall into place soon.

As far as wii games: We have a wii and also love the cow racing on wii play. I really like mario kart! everyone picks up on it very fast. My parents have a lot more games than marc and I, but most of my dads are like shooters and stuff. That disney one you guys were talking about sounds really fun! ill have to look for it.

Good morning!! I have decided morning needs to be a couple of hours later! I just can't get going! We have a parent meeting at Em's school tonite. The local high schools are coming to discuss all their special programs. We think we know what program we want for Em, but we will go hear about all of them and then start the application part!

sam - I am glad I am not the only cow racer! We will have to try MarioKart!

sandy - are you freezing???

sandy - are you freezing???
More than I could ever describe!!! :cold:
We are getting hit with a lot of snow today, and that makes everything feel even colder!!! :cold:
I shoveled our driveway twice this morning, and I can guarantee that when I get home, I won't be able to tell that I did anything.
It took poor Kevin 2hrs and 15 min. to get to work today, and it will probably take him just as long to get home - I feel so bad for him!!! He like his job, but this communte is really starting to play on his nerves.
Tomorrow our high temp is going to be in the negative numbers :cold:
Poor Sophie is so cold when she goes outside :dog: I put on her coat, but I don't know how much that helps. She still shivers so hard, and has a hard time putting her paws down on the ground. I try and carry her as much as possible, but I have to eventually put her down to go potty (which has been taking longer than normal, because she is so uncomfortable).
This winter season really sucks!!!!!

Karen - We have the Wii Play, and we enjoy the cow racing too ::yes:: Stephanie is a real Mario fan!! She has Mario Kart for Wii and DS, and her ultimate favorite game is Super Mario Bros for DS :thumbsup2 What is the Playground game? I've never heard of that. When James investigates the Wii Music a little more, please tell me if my girls would enjoy it. I'm already thinking about what I can put in their Easter Baskets.

CB - Congrats on getting your old job back:cheer2:
**Happy Anniversary to you and Marc :goodvibes
**How did his shift go? We are looking forward to hearing about it.

Well, I need to go and get back to work (not that anyone has come in today, or will come in today).
Have a great rest of the day everyone!!

School was cancelled today due to the extreme cold weather. So, I guess Stephanie is coming to work with me today - I'm not sure how she will feel about that yet - she's still sleeping. I wish I didn't have to go out, but I really need to go to work. Not only do I have orders to work on, but I also have alot of paperwork to get together for taxes. So, I do have alot to do today ::yes::

Have a great day today!!!

so marc told me about his first day yesterday. Hes the ambulance driver. He doesnt have his license for that but apparently thats one of the differences when your on an indian reservation. He sounds like he had a really great time with them. Theres going to be 4 of them on the shift, but they are waiting for one more new guy.

I dyed my hair bright red last night! Its very bright but i stil wish it was brighter. I didnt bleach my hair though, because I dont want to damage my hair doing that.

in all of my chaos i forgot to tell you all about something serious. A couple days after I came home from seeing my family I got a call from my mom. Supposedly my papa (grandpa) has tumors on his liver. He went to the doctor for the first time in ages and this is the bad news they had to tell him. The tumors are cancerous, but we dont know how bad yet. his doctor rushed his to another to do the biopsy, but i just found out today that that other doctor had an appointment with him, but sent him home saying that theyll call to set up an appointment to do a biopsy at the hospital. That was a week ago and they still havent scheduled an appointment. Its not there is a rush here is there? (note the sarcasm) The original doctor gave him 2 months to 2 years depending. Hes getting weaker and sicker because the tumors press on his stomach and he doesnt eat. He used to be a big eater so its really wierd when he cant eat 1 whole egg! Im trying to be optimistic, but Im really scared because Ive never lost anyone really close to me. :sad1: the only thing ive lost were pets and I still cry about my cat when I think of him. I found his bowl the other day and began sobbing. I dont know how I would react if my papa got worse.

Please keep him in your prayers! I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy!

Ok, so it's about 20 degrees here & I don't want to leave the house! Once I do I will be driving around and going in and out of houses! I so could not live somewhere with lots of cold!

sandy - did Steph go back to school? How did she do with going to work with you yesterday? Do you get your new washing machine this weekend?

sam - I am so sorry about your grandfather! I hope they do the biopsy SOON! It sounds like he is very uncomfortable! A friend of mine & Jim's is battling the same thing. She goes back and forth with not being able to eat. She is getting everything IV right now. But she is at home and comfy! She is a riding instructor and she home schools her kids! She does it all! Please keep us posted! I will keep you and your family in my prayers!

Stephanie has another day off school

UUUUGGGGGGG..............THE SMILIES ARE MOVED!!!!!!
I JUST NOTICED THIS - I HATE IT WHEN THEY MOVE THE SMILIES!!!!!!

Okay, back to what I was saying......:rotfl:
Yesterday, Stephanie and I really took advantage of her day off and got 2/3 of a health project done that's due on Tuesday. She wasn't happy about it initially, but she is very happy now that I forced her to do this, because now she won't have to worry about it all weekend. :)

Today I am only working until 1:30pm because my highschool employee offered to come today at that time (initially she had a 1/2 day today, but I'm sure she's off school now). I took her up on the offer so I could go home and get Stephanie's room ready to paint this weekend, and to get the laundry room ready for my new washing machine. So, I'm looking forward to short week day today:thumbsup2

Karen - We should be back to highs of 20 degrees next week {{fingers crossed}} Right now it is -17.8 degrees, and it's downright brutal out (this temp is according to Kevin's new weather station - his new toy). Since you all are not used to cold temps, I'm sure your 20 degrees is brutal for you too. I hope we both get warmer temps soon pixiedust:

Sam - I"m so sorry to hear about your Grandpa  I will most definitly keep him and your whole family in my thoughts and prayers :grouphug: Please keeps us posted on how he is doing, and remember, we are always here for you!!!! :grouphug:
**I'm so glad Marc had a good first day!!!:)

Well, I gotta go get ready for work.
I'm so off schedule, because I've been staying in bed longer. If I didn't have Sophie, I would still get up early, but I just can't bring myself to take her out at 5:30am in this cold weather. It's so much easier when it's daylight - I don't know why, but it is :upsidedow

Have a good day!!

Hey....it's 15.8 degrees out right now!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Stephanie's room is ready for paint:thumbsup2
Yesterday afternoon Stephanie and I got everything picked up, and all furniture away from the wall. Kevin got everything taped up, and the border pulled off. Stephanie's new room is on it's way!!!!!:)

Today while Kevin is painting, I need to get the laundry room ready for my new washing machine. I have to move alot of things out in order for the Sears guys to get the old machine out, and the new machine in. I"m so excited to get my new machine, because I have so much laundry to do. I'm so glad I was pretty caught up when the machine pooped out, or I would be in a lot of trouble.

Tonight I am going to The Chamber of Commerce dinner/dance. I am going alone, because Kevin needs to stay home with the girls. I'm not staying long, becuase I want to get home in case Kevin has any calls. So I will go, eat, and leave:thumbsup2

Well, I should eat and get this day started - I have alot on my list.
Have a good day everyone!!!

Hey....it's 15.8 degrees out right now!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

You sent it our way. It is - 18 w/ a wind chill close to -40 . Yuck. My DH had a structure fire the other night in this horrid weather. I hate january fires. They never end well. Thankfully the evacuated everyone, saved the main portion of the building and no one was hurt.

I got alot done yesterday.
I worked in the girls playroom almost all afternoon, and I got alot thrown away, put away, and set aside for the garage sale. The room is not done though, there's alot more to go through right before the garage sale. There are toys that I want to sell that are to big for boxes, so they will have to stay in the room until May. Then after the garage sale I will be able to do some more rearranging in the room, which will be great!!!!:thumbsup2

I also cleaned out the laundry room yesterday, which felt really good. If you haven't looked behind your washing machine in awhile, you will be shocked at what you will find:scared: The washing machine we had came with the house, so who knows when or if the past people ever cleaned:scared: I felt like I needed to take another shower after I was done cleaning that area - NASTY!!!! So, I rushed to get all that cleaned, because the machine was suppossed to come between 3:45pm - 5:45pm. They called in the afternoon and said that they were running 1 1/2 - 2 hours late - we weren't happy:sad2: So I went to church and my dinner/dance, and when I came home at 9:45pm and saw Kevin's car still in the driveway (he had to pull it out so the delivery men could go through the garage), I called him on my cell phone and said, "please tell me machine was delivered." He said "No, it's not here yet!!!!":sad2: I come in the house and he's mad, and now I'm mad, and the delivery man calls at 10pm and says that he still has 1 more stop before us, and I very politely let him have it!!!!!! I told him he WILL come tonight, and he WILL tell me when he's going to be here, and not call here again to tell us he's running late (which he did twice while I was gone). He said he will be there by 11pm, and I said that's fine, but he better be in my driveway at 11pm, and no more phone calls!!!! He did pull in right at 11pm, and it did not take much time for the men to take the old one out and put the new one in. We were not happy about all this at all!!!!!:sad2: When the truck (a Ryder truck, because they had some problems with the Sears truck) my neighbor/friend/fellow fireman called Kevin to see if everything was okay, because who gets deliveries at 11pm:rolleyes2 I love having a neighbor that looks out for us, and we do the same for him and his family. It really gives an extra sense of security!!!! So, that's the story with that!!!!

Today we are going to IHOP for pancakes - YUMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes
Then we are going to the mall to do ALOT of returns from Christmas (some gifts, and some things Kevin bought the day after Christmas that we didn't need) and then we are going to come home so I can start my mountains of laundry :faint: Plus, I need to price all the garage sale items I set aside yesterday, and we have to put Stephanie's furniture where she wants it (the room is painted, and it looks great!!!:thumbsup2 ) So we have another productive day ahead of us - no rest for the weary

Well, I must go wake up Katie, and then get ready for pancakes - I love pancakes!!!!
Have a great day!!!!

I hate it when there's fires in extreme heat and extreme cold - they always make me so nervous for not only my DH, but everyone else that responded. We've never had an issue with anyone getting frostbite, or heat exhaustion, but I still get so nervous.

I'm so glad that your DH did okay, and that no one was hurt - that's always a great outcome!!!:thumbsup2

Please come by and visit more often - we would love to have you!!!!:)

So far this weekend has been pretty fun, although not the least bit productive. Yesterday I watched rumor has it, and walk hard. Both were pretty entertaining. Today I really havent done much either. Marc is not home, and Ive counted and found out that since ive been home from florida Ive been away from marc almost 2 times more than ive actually seen him. Ive only had about 5 days with him since ive been here, and only one quality day.:guilty: Id normally be no big deal, but ive been very stressed and worried about school and my grandpa.
Last weekend all of my friends were here and almost all at once everyone left to go home and to school, marc included. Now ive spent a week alone with noone to talk to about my papa and stress and im starting to get very depressed. My mom called and woke me up this morning and shes worried about my papa. she doesnt think hes going to last until therapy, especially at the rate these doctors are working. She wants me to come home next weekend to see him. I guess hes getting weaker and sicker, and the surgeon still wont schedule a biopsy. The reason was supposedly "the fax machine was broken" does that make any sense? does my family have to suffer for their lame excuses? they wouldnt even schedule his biopsy and theyll find out tomorrow if they actually will. Its been about 2 weeks now and nothings happened!

So after my sobbing talk with my mom I moved into the living room and the other 2 guys were leaving for sushi. (its a davis thing to get all you can eat sushi at 11am when it opens) I didnt want to be alone, so I took a drive to the neighboring town to go to target. I found some cute clearance yellow shoes $5. i got home and called my family and talked to everyone about an hour. and now Im here procrastinating even more and not studying. I have 2 midterms on friday and I have been too stressed and emotional to concentrate on work. My plan thus far is to study like crazy this afternoon and try to drown myself in work and labs. then I will hang out with my roommates tonight and try and not think about it. I dont have anyone to talk to and havent dealt with this kind of stress before and I just dont know how to handle all of it at the same time. :sad2:

Wish me luck

Sandy- what color did you guys paint the room again? I think you told us but ive forgotten.

Hi all! We had a great day. Emily had a competition today and lots of our family got to come. Her squad took 1st in division, level 3 Grand Champion and overall Grand Champion. We are pertty excited. Our whole gym did pretty well overall!

sandy - do you like your new washing machine? Did you get all caught up? How does Steph's room look?

sam - I am so sorry you are stressed. I don't have any great wisdom to offer. i don't think there is any excuse for the care your grandpa is (or is not) receiving. The fax machine is broken???? You have got to be kidding me!!! That really infuriates me, not just as a healthcare provider, but as a person! I am just beside myself. Will you be able to schedule time to go visit him? I know it will be hard for you to balance work, school and family right now, but I know you can do it! Just remember you always have us!! :grouphug:

collcass - you should come to visit more often!! We like having you here!

We don't have much extreme cold - back up to the 50's (or maybe 60's) today. Our firefighters do have to deal with the extreme heat and humidity though. We have more house fires when we have these cold snaps because people are prepared to heat their homes and use a lot of space heaters. I have done visits at homes where they are using stove burners to heat the house! It's scary!

See ya'll tomorrow!
