Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Belated Happy Birthday, John!!! Hope you had a great one!
Mac, pinky swear!
Hope everyone has a great day. Looks like it should be a beautiful day today.

Brrrr.........I don't like this colder weather again :sad2:
It figures that as soon as softball and soccer start is when the warm leaves and the cold returns. Luckily, I don't have to be outside with Stephanie anymore, but I feel bad for her tomorrow - it's gonna be really chilly by her 5:30 practice time. I'm one of Katie's softball coaches, and our practice is today at 6pm. It will be colder than too, and I don't think all our little 7 & 8yr old girls are going to be very happy about being in it. Luckily though, I will have something to do to stay warm, instead of just sitting there watching. :thumbsup2

Nothing to new since my last post.
Business still really sucks, and it's making more and more nervous by the second :guilty: I getting to the fork in the road, and I'm gonna need to make a decision very soon on what we should do. June 7th is my 5yr anniversary, and I definitly know I won't make any decisions until that date. I will make it to that anniversary!!!!! ::yes::

DN - I'm sorry your boss made you work so much :guilty: I hope you were able to get some O.T. for it.

Crissup - Happy Birthday!!!!!:dance3: Sounds like you and Carol had a fun weekend!!!!:cool1:

DD1969 - Looks like your nephew had a lot of fun!!! :yay: We've sat at the table that would have been to the left of you. It's great sitting by that kitchen door so you can see the characters go in and out :thumbsup2

TTTTTigggg and geffric - :wave2:

Well, I hear Katie's alarm clock going off which is my cue to get off this computer:upsidedow Have a great day today!!!

Good Morning!!

It's finally Wednesday.....not sure if that is good or bad..:(

I have had this pinch nerve in my neck now day 3 and I hate it!! It is causing me to lose sleep...not that I sleep much anyway.

first Happy Birthday Crissup:bday:
I use to love going to casinos but I lose too much. I tried to avoid them now...

Slo- No OT for me...I am exempt...I work 6 days this week but only 40 this week so I guess not too bad...

got our Universal tickets, meal tickets and gift cards for the kids yesterday in the mail. So excited. The kids gc's came in a Harry Potter card with a map and everything. My DS opened the package and just saw Universal so he didn't see the cards. (suppose to be a surprise)

I haven't seen my Disney stuff yet. We are still 54 days out so I am sure they will come sooner or later...

Off to work. Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Hi everyone!

Spring break going on here and Tony's here too. Right now I've got him busy in the backyard cleaning up. ;)
Nothing too exciting going on here.

Crissup Happy birthday, John. Sounds like you and Carol had a fun weekend.

disneynut How exciting you're all going to see HP @ Universal!!

rmom I would love a trip to WDW all by myself. I'd like to take my time just looking at the aesthetics of the parks and taking pictures. :goodvibes

slo So how are you liking coaching? How is Katie dealing with mom being a coach? lol!:)

Have a great Easter and Passover, depending on which you celebrate! :goodvibes

Well, I'm all ready for Easter.
The eggs were colored on Thursday night, and the dining room table was set then too :thumbsup2
This morning I cleaned all the bathrooms before I went to work.:thumbsup2
At work I made the kids Easter baskets:thumbsup2
Kevin's going to prepare the plastic eggs for hiding this afternoon.:thumbsup2
Stephanie and Katie are cleaning the house while I'm at work:thumbsup2
Then that just leaves the food tomorrow :woohoo:
Now, I can go to church tonight, and not have to worry about getting things done for tomorrow!!!!:dance3:

The only bummer about tomorrow is that Kevin has the Shingles  and is in alot of paing:guilty: So he won't be enjoying this holiday as much as he normally would. Luckily, his Shingles are on his leg, and easier to live with. My priest had Shingles at the beginning of the year, and he had them all over his back, which made everything uncomfortable. He was taking a lot of Vycadin (sp?) just to sleep - it was terrible for him. Kevin has a script for Vycadin, but he's not using it (yet) because he's not that uncomfortable (yet).

Softball is going great!!! We have a nice group of girls, and once it's warmer out, and we can all shed our jackets and gloves, we'll be able to get some real practice time it. The last 2 practices were good, but cold :cold:

Stephanie's soccer practices are going well too. She has the same coach again, which she is thrilled about. Her team was undeafed last year, so the league broke up the team, which the kids are not happy about :sad2: The poor coach told me that he was personally attacked (verbally) for running up the games and etc. It's unfortunate, because he wasn't standing there with a joystick forcing the kids to perform well. He had to tell our team an uncountable amount of times last year to not score, and to give up the ball, so he wouldn't get in trouble by the league. These kids worked so awesome TOGETHER that they kicked butt every game. The kids weren't scoring to be mean, they were just that good together. I would think that if the other coaches were mad about our team winning all the time, that they would reflect on their coaching skills, and try something different to improve their team. I would think that if the parents were mad about our team scoring, that they would step up, and help their coach if need be to help their team perform better. But, it's always easier to attack someone and point the finger, instead of stepping up to help out. So, Stephanie's coach has 1/2 of last years team, and I will be willing to bet, that he will coach really well again, and get a winning team again. It's just to bad that he can't enjoy it, especially when he's volunteering his time and talent.

Wow.... I just wrote a lot about that:rotfl:

DN - The same thing happened to me last week. It's finally starting to work it's way out, and I'm starting to feel better. I took some Advil PM's to help me sleep ;)

Bunchkin - Welcome home Tony!!!!!:goodvibes
*I'm really enjoying coaching - it's alot of fun!!!!:) Katie is really enjoying it too, because she's a real mama's girl :goodvibes Plus, with me missing out on doing things at school, because I'm always at work, this is a nice thing for both of us. It's going to make a lot of nice memories!!!:goodvibes

Well, I need to get a little more done at work, and then I get to go home for the weekend. Have a great holiday everyone!!!

happy saturday homies!

i have a lot to catch up here.
haven't been able to be here this week.
busy with the parental units.

slo, shingles, ouchie!
mr mac had the shingles and suffered for 3 months with them.
my cousin is on her second round of it again.

praying that kevin will do better and no more shingles for him!!

i guess i should call you Coach Slo.
i love baseball so i hope you talk more about it this season.
you are going to do a fine job.

hope all have a blessed easter/passover that is coming up!

poor coach told me that he was personally attacked (verbally) for running up the games and etc. It's unfortunate, because he wasn't standing there with a joystick forcing the kids to perform well. He had to tell our team an uncountable amount of times last year to not score, and to give up the ball, so he wouldn't get in trouble by the league.\

This is the problem in todays world. Society used to teach kids to be the best they can be. Now they're taught to only be average so they don't make the underperformers feel bad.

Hello all! I have been a long time lurker on the boards and I can't believe I have missed this thread. I am in the southwest chicago suburbs. I am 30 with two children (4 yr old little girl and 6 month little man) and married to my true prince charming. We actually got married in Disney @ Poly on 5/5/05. Which was one my first of many visit and where my addiction came from. I am so excited to have found you all and I am excited to get to know you all more :)

:welcome: to the chicago side of life!

just hop in and start talking.

Coach Slo is probably asleep now but she'll greet you (as the others will), when she returns here.

can't believe I have missed this thread.

Welcome! The thread used to be much more active, so it was always near the top of the first page. However, recently it had stalled for quite some time while real life got in the way. :teacher: :laundy: :happytv: This is likely why you hadn't spotted it previously. But, it's picking up again and we all find time catch up with each other. :surfweb:

Slo is our ringmaster, so she'll undoubtedly be by once she's fully rested up from her Easter festivities to give a proper welcome to the thread. :cheer2:

Happy Easter Everyone!

We're doing it the easy way today. We're off to Meson Sabika in Naperville for their Easter Brunch. Spanish Tapas all around. The crowd favorite is usually their roasted bacon wrapped dates. :cool1: Going to have to try and watch my diet. :rolleyes1

Good evening. Wanted to pop in and wish all my Chicagoland Dis friends a Very Happy Easter! I hope you all had a beautiful day!! The bunny was very generous to my 2 little ones. The candy bin is full once more.:scared1:Not a good thing for me-just recovered from the Halloween sugar rush!!

Welcome Disbride. You will find this to be a most cheerful group and ever so helpful if you ever have any questions.

Happy Easter Chicago friends! :goodvibes

Hope you all had a great day. :flower3:

Today is the last day of spring break. Ugh! Wish we could have another week of relaxing.

Crissup I agree with what you said about kids being taught to only be average. Hope you had some yummy Mexican food!

slo Sorry to hear that Kevin is in pain. How horrible. I hope he's feeling better soon. It's so great you get to spend this extra time with Katie.
What a bunch of bunk with the soccer team being split up! :headache:

disbride Welcome to the Chicago thread! :thumbsup2

What a glorious looking day today!!!!! :sunny:

I was going to go to the movies every Monday, now that I'm not working Monday's, but I'm taking Stephanie to see Titanic at the end of the week, so I will go then. So, I'm going to take advantage of this wonderful day, and finish my yard work, so then I don't have as much to do in May :thumbsup2

How was everyone's Easter? Ours was pretty relaxing. We just had Kevin's parents come over, so it was very low key. With the nice weather, the kids played outside most of the day, so that was nice for them too. It was a nice Easter!!!!! :flower:

Mac - thanks for the prayers - Kevin needs them :guilty:The shingles are on his leg, and part of his back, so he wore shorts all weekend to help with the rubbing. Today he has to wear jeans to work, so he is not comfortable :sad2:
*I will definitly keep you filled in on our softball adventures :goodvibes We are going to have a lot of fun - I'm so excited!!!!!!:goodvibes Thanks for the encouragement!!!!:goodvibes

Crissup - I couldn't agree more!!! ::yes::

DB555 - :welcome:
We are so glad you came here, and Crissup explained things perfectly. Please join us anytime you want - you are always welcome, and we would love to get to know you!!!! :flower3:

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I'm off to work for a couple of minutes, run a couple of errands, and then out to the backyard I go. I'm so excited to be getting all this work done outside so early. I may actually enjoy my Spring this year :flower1:

Have a great day today!!!

Mornin friends!!!!!!:surfweb:

I got all that yard work done on Monday, which makes me THRILLED!!!!:yay::woohoo:
But all that wind, and crap blowing in my face has given me a sinus headache that won't go away now:headache:
It bums me out, because I can't go walking or get on my eliptical, because it just makes it go from bad to worse :guilty:
I'm really hoping it goes away soon.

Nothing else exciting going on here - just busy with sports.
Poor Stephanie had practice yesterday - it was COLD out there!!!!!
We have softball pictures tonight, so no practice for us.
There's always something going on around here :upsidedow

Stay warm today, especially this morning.
Have a great day!!!
