Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Mornin'!! :wave2:

Wish I could send you all some of this sunshine we have here. It is cold though right now if that's any consolation. It was 39 when I got up this morning.

The air show at the Air Force base was AWESOME!!!!! :cool1: Huge!!!
Lots of planes to look at on the ground. Including a huge transporter you could walk through. It's the plane that drops off vehicles and tanks.
Tons of planes zipping through the air doing maneuvers and parachuters too.
Food, bounce jumps. You could talk to the service men who were flying and get signatures. There was announcers for everything and cool music too. Think Top Gun minus Tom Cruise!! And of course those were Navy planes in that movie, not Air Force!! ;)

I took a lot of pics but I cannot load them yet. Something is up with our computer. The disk drives were not working so DH replaced one of them which made the other one also start working again, but the computer doesn't recognize my camera's SD card when I stick it in. So I have no clue what is going on! I am NO pro at computer stuff! :sad2: I turn it on and learn what little I need to in order to do what I want to, and I'm happy.

slo Your day with the girl's sounds fun! It's always nice to do stuff like that once in a while. Not that long ago Lauren and I went out to lunch just the two of us and it was nice.

irish dancer Hope the Thanksgiving shopping goes ok. I need to get out today or tomorrow for our turkey. Not sure if FIL is coming over, he is such a curmudgeon! What are you making this year?
I'm so happy with our new dentist here. I was not looking forward to finding a good one. They came recommended from our new pediatrician who I like too, she's from Chicago! Born there, schooled there, residency there. :thumbsup2

stitchfans I say hop on the train, go look at the windows and have a nice lunch downtown. Think positive and have a good time. Take your DD with you during the weekday to avoid the crowds of the weekend.

Kim We bought TSM for the kids for Christmas! Can't wait to play it!! :yay:

Thanks for sharing those! I just love going to air shows. I was lucky enough to meet a few of the ThunderBirds pilots when I was in high school at the Chicago Air and Water show. The company my mom worked for had VIP passes, so cool.

Bunchkin - I wish my dentist would do MY nails while I wait for the kids - that would be awesome!!!!:woohoo:

Kim - Toy Story Mania is going to be on my Christmas list :) I sure hope someone buys it for me {{fingers crossed!!!}}
Good Point, slo!!

* Make that list, slo! Just, watch your shoulder!

KimRaye- how is your shoulder? what did you do? hope it is okay now.
Actually Worse Monday! Maybe I AM sleeping weird?? Let's HOPE it's NOT because of TSM Wii!

I can't believe Tgiving is NEXT WEEK!

Kim - lol, too funny about the shoulder pain from TSM. None of my kids have it on their list but they're getting it because I want it. :rotfl:
I can't either! Where did September & October GO?!?! :confused3:confused:

* :rotfl2: That's why MY kids are getting it too! :rotfl: (Plus the Wii system to PLAY it!) I predict x-rays and MRIs for my shoulder because I'M playing it too much! There's no air puffs and water spritzes but you almost know when they SHOULD be there and I know I ducked anyway!

Great pics! Is that Hunter in a couple of them?? He's gotten tall, if that's him!

* Watch your shoulder! ;)

My Dad's cousin was a Thunderbirds mechanic and served and traveled with them, years ago. When I met him, I didn't understand the significance, because I never saw a Chicago Air & Water Show until I was an adult. It kicked in then. Dad's cousin is retired by now, I'm sure. :worship:

Question for Moms of puberty/adolescent girls - do they sometimes have a 'day' where they aren't themselves? Kinda like 'others' tell us we are/were during our 'time'? Kelly hasn't had that 'time' yet, but she's been 'not herself' sometimes, like this morning. :sad1: :confused3 I'll just stop there. :rolleyes1

:grouphug:

I gotta make this kinda quick this morning, because I have to go to my Leads Group this morning, then I work until 7:30pm - I really don't like Tuesdays:sad2:

Stitchfans - Does your dad live locally?
I would be curious on why he keeps cancelling too ::yes::

ID - I'm shocked about Thanksgiving being next weekend too
I"m even more shocked that I'm putting up my first Christmas tree this weekend:santa:

Bunchkin - Great pictures!!!! I'm so surprised at all the heavy coats people are wearing. I guess I thought it was always hot by you - I'm learning more and more about your area every day:)

Kim - Stephanie has weird days too, and I know her hormones have got to be going crazy:rolleyes: I feel bad for her, because I know she wants to grow up, but at the same time she wants to stay so young - it's a tough time. Stephanie hasn't started having her monthly visitor yet, but I bet she'll start by this time next year, if not sooner (I don't like the sound of that:sad2: )

piglet and momto1 - :wave2:

I gotta run and get ready to go
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Good morning everyone. They are calling for rain. Phooey! Cold with no sunshine. Double phooey! I get extra time on the computer today since DD is going to her Art club after school. She joined two after school activities in hopes of meeting up with someone with the same interests. She sure could use a good friend to hang out with. :sad2: So far no luck. Today they are taking the group pictures for the Art and Photography club for the year book. I had to laugh cause she said she has to pose with her camera just below her face. For some reason I found that funny.

SLo- yes my dad does live somewhere kind of locally. He is 45 minutes from me. I spoke to one of my "step" brothers (I hate the word step) and I think I might somewhat of figured out something. He said that due to the fact that he and his siblings do not get all get along his mom often has to do things with them individually. ( there is 3 men, 1 woman) I put it that way since they are all adults. :) Any way to keep her happy he goes along with the program of following her around when she goes to each one. Plus she does not drive so he has no choice. So naturally my brother and I are going to get the short end of the stick. You can only spread your time and yourself so far. I guess. :confused3 Oh well..

KimRaye- Oh horrors. Not the Wii! Must not give that up. Don't own one myself but my brother and his family does. They have loads of fun with it. Would be a waste of money for us since we most likely would play with it for a few times and then it would end up sitting there collecting dust.

Bunchkin- those pictures were really great. Never been that close up to look inside like that. As far as hoping on the train. I'll give it some thought. Still nervous. I know it is safe pretty much safe there, but still. :confused3

ID: Yeh, it does seem weird Thanksgiving being so close. I was just thinking. Chances are since we planned on having a quiet little dinner here just the three of us this year chances are I most likely will be cooking listening to my Christmas CD's. Saw Sugarland has a new one out. I'll have to run out to buy it. (Yes, I am a big Country music fan):thumbsup2

Well hope I didn't miss anyone if so a big hello to you. Have a great day everyone. Keep warm. Brrrr.

Morning everyone. I am home today with a sick ballerina. ?food poisoning vs. stomache flu. Yuck! Hope she's better soon. Shows are just around the corner. She'll miss dress rehearsal today.
Bunchkin, loved the pictures. Hope Hunter does well with everything at the dentist. I cannot believe that they paint nails while you wait! That's too funny. I wish they would offer that in our clinics around here. My patients always seem to have wonderful nail jobs. Maybe if they did their nails while waiting for their prenatal care visits, my patients could be bothered to keep up with their prenatal care!
Slo, hope all is going well with you. I think you should send a letter to "Santa" and ask him for Toy Story Mania!:rotfl: I am thankfully not too worried about the whole make-up thing here. Since Kellie has to pile it on for shows when she's dancing, she isn't too fond of the whole make-up thing. She hates mascara and eye liner :woohoo:. I hopefully will see no racoon eyes in her future.
Kim, you just need to play more often:rolleyes1then those muscles will be used to it!
ID, good luck with your busy week. I totally understand about the first holidays without a loved one. Those can be the hardest.
Mac, thanks for the listings and for having our backs. Between work and losing my British Mum last week, I have missed a few weeks of church now. I need all the extra prayers I can get.
Stich, I really try hard not to get into the Christmas spirit until after Thanksgiving, but even I was listening to the Lite this week driving home from work. :upsidedow
Paint, hope those finals go well for you. You'll be packing soon.:woohoo:Have a great holiday trip. That is one time of year I have yet to check out.
Well, better get moving. I managed to get the under bed disaster out of DS room yesterday. Time to get lost in the closet and toy box. Later all.

Glad you guys likes the pics. Sorry they're so big!! :)

I'm having a hard time getting them on to Facebook, so I think I'll need to shrink them down.

Raging sinus headache!! It's killing me. Went to bed with it last night and woke up with it. And I had to go to DS's school today to help, so that didn't help.

slo I don't think there is a single place in the US that stays warm all year. You need to watch more Weather Channel!!

Kim That is Hunter!...sitting behind that 50 caliber gun in that chopper and walking up the ramp into the belly of the huge carrier. He is getting big!
Lauren is a mess of hormones almost every day now! She is on the verge of womanhood. I think it will be any moment now and 'Aunt Flo' will be here.

Tigg Sorry to hear Kellie is sick. I hope she's feeling better soon.

Ok, DH just brought me the digital thermometer and told me to take my temp.
It's 100.5, which is hot for me. My immune system stinks. :sad2: Kinda missing an organ that helps with that.
So I'm off to go lay down while he gets the kids from school.

Oh.....Lauren has try-outs this afternoon for the Beauty and the Beast play they are doing at her school. I'm hoping she gets one of the parts she wants, but I know she'll also be happy with being part of the ensemble.

EXCELLENT ADVICE!! ;) Thank you!! :thumbsup2 Hope Kellie is better soon! My Kelly also has to do the make-up thing for ice shows, and she likes the look, but HATES putting it on, and I barely help so she knows how much work it is! ;)

I THOUGHT that was Hunter, but couldn't believe how tall he is! Wowza!

:grouphug: to ALL of us dealing with these pre-teen hormone issues. Like our own aren't bad enough?! :rotfl2:

Good Luck to Lauren!!!! And feel better soon, too!

Okay..I have a vent this morning!!!

I picked Stephanie up from CCD last night, and she says to me, "I'm watching a rated R movie in CCD!" I asked her to elaborate, and she said they are watching The Passion of the Christ :eek: I sorta freaked out, because that movie is SO SO graphic, and I don't allow Stephanie to see rated R movies, and I don't appreciate her teacher doing this without my permission :mad: So I left a message at the directors office, and I also sent our priest an email expressing my unhappiness. I told them both that I want Stephanie to have an excused absence, or go to a different class for the duration of the movie - I don't care what she does, but I do notwant her watching that movie!!!!! A permission slip should have been sent home, or a phone call should have been made - I never would have approved this:sad2: So mad!!!!

Stitchfans - That's a bummer about your family, and how everyone doesn't get along:guilty: Hopefully you'll get to see your dad soon :wizard:

TTTTTiigernnnn - I'm sorry Kellie isn't feeling well :guilty: I hope Kellie feels better soon!!!! :wizard::wizard:

Bunchkin - I'm sorry you don't feel well :guilty: I hope you feel better soon:wizard::wizard:
**Good to luck to Lauren:wizard:

Kim - :wave2:

Time to go and start another day
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Really had to search to find this. DD had a late start today at school so that means a lot less time on the computer. Just as well since nothing new is going on. Have a few things to do before I have to pick up DD so I will just wish everyone a great day.

SLO - i really don't understand why a permissin slip was not send home first. I'd be really angry too..

Well today I need to get the photo database writeup down for BSA..

:woohoo:Got the temp seasonal job and Started at TDS last night. :cheer2: My feet hurt. but the shoes I ordered came today, so now I am ready for the season...

going back to read the thread and see what I missed..

Hi gang! Just a quick check in. I have to get caught up with you all!

Slo - I would be so upset, too. Jon is older than Stephanie and I won't let him watch an R rated movie either. Shame on the leader! Did anyone get back to you?

Geffric - Great news on the job front! Have a ton of fun!

OK - back to work. See you all later.
Lori

Hey Chicago pals! I have been so busy with work and school! I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for this semester, though-12 page paper handed in tomorrow! Only a few projects to go! I have been trying to pick up shifts at work, too, since WDW and Xmas are coming way too soon!
gef- Congrats on TDS! Next best thing to working at WDW! What kind of shoes did you get? I waitress in Borns and love them!
slo- I purposely never saw that movie since I heard about how graphic it was. I wouldn't be happy with my kids seeing it!
Bunchkin- Aunt Fol, LOL! DD asked me when she'd be getting her "perm". After a few "whats?!?" on my part, she says, "My perm! You know the thing you need tampons for!":rotfl2:
Tig- Hope dd is feeling better, no matter what the cause was. Those illnesses are short lived but miserable! On a lighter note, I am happy to be doing WDW at Xmas, too. I used to go in Nov., but I haven't been during that time since I was a teen.
stitch- That Tues. was lousy, wasn't it? I walk to school and spent my first few classes drying out. yuck!
