Calling all Chicago DISers #3

I had a lot of fun at The Tupperware party last night.
I booked a party for January
Send me a link to order online please?

I am what is called a "Lead", basically it is like an assistant manager, but the store has a full-time one of those.
Congrats again Kirsten!

Anyone buy their Thanksgiving turkey yet?
I haven't decided which store I'm buying it from.

Hersey Lauren is always running out of socks too! :confused3 No one else here does, so I'm not sure exactly what the girl is doing with her socks...and she has a ton of them!!!
Nope, going to WI to DBIL & DSIL's for TD, bringing sides/desserts. I might buy a Market Day turkey breast roast this month tho, for next month. :thumbsup2 (altho I like ham for Cmas)

Socks? Are you kidding?! Everyone loses one a month, at least - they aren't REALLY lost, they just are found in someone else's batch of socks. Does that make sense? :confused3 I don't do the whites anymore, DH does. He is NOT the best on matching tho. :rolleyes1 When Kelly needs socks, she takes from me, because that's where her socks are normally put by her dad. :rolleyes1 I only wear white, ankle socks in the summer. He hasn't figured that out yet. BUT, he does the whites, usually, and I'm glad for that. ;) He & DS wear the same size/style, so that's another story! :rolleyes1

My 13ds said just last year -
Jon -the kids on the bus said there isn't a Santa"
me - Oh? What did you say?
Jon- My parents would NEVER do that!

So...at 13 - how can he believe? I don't know if he does or doesn't!
Lori, he's AFRAID to NOT believe! Weren't you? Weren't you all?! I know at 8yo in 3rd grade, when I learned, I was so young and afraid gifts would end! I KNOW that was a selfish thought, but I was 8! I've learned to overcome that now with my kids. I ask them flat-out, what do you REALLY want? They're old enough now to KNOW the difference between wishes and realities. Make sense? :confused3 We Santas :santa: had to decide for our kids, for the most part in the past, now if they 'know', they can actively, responsibily, ask for what they think is POSSIBLE. I'm NOT giving up Santa :santa: tho! I have a niece & nephew who actively believe! And, for every other kid out there that does. I won't squash their dream! :santa: Santa is many people.

I so nned the money- just look at that ticker!
Have a Magical time! :santa:

I'm tired this morning.
I hate mornings where I wake up feeling really tired.
I think it's because I didn't get my "down time" last night.
Kevin and I had a Centennial meeting last night, and I didn't get home until almost 9pm - so yesterday was a long day!!!!! :faint:

Tonight, Kevin and I are going Christmas shopping, while the girls go to my inlaws.
I found a ipod clock/radio at ToysRUs for $99, and you get instant $20 off, and then a $10 gift card for the store:thumbsup2 This is one of the main gifts Stephanie is getting from Santa. We also got her a hot pink fuzzy cozy chair for her room in the summer too :) So those 2 things are her main gifts, and then I'll get some little things, and then Santa is done for her :santa:

You want to read something kinda gross and funny at the same time....
I was going through the pantry yesterday morning, and I found a can of soup on the very very back. I looked at the expiration date and it was 1/03:eek:
So I said to Stephanie....
"Hey Steph, this soup is older than your sister"
"What?!" she said
"Look at the expiration date on the bottom, it expired before your sister was born"
"Ewww. Grossssss!!!!!" she says
"Not only is this soup older than your sister, it also moved with us, because your sister was born in the old house"
We both laughed and laughed - I should of kept it as a family heirloom :rotfl:

HERSEY - Thanks for the congrats!!!!:goodvibes
Kevin is really liking his new job - he's doing exactly what he likes to do :teeth::thumbsup2

piglet - I would love to have you come to the party :) It's on Thursday, January 28th at 6:30pm, so mark your calendar - I will send you an invitation :thumbsup2 PM me your address and email address.

Bunchkin - Yes, we are a small little group on this street :)
**I've got a bunch of AVON stocking stuffers for my girls too ::yes:: I've also been buying the acne products for Stephanie, which work well. She was having an issue with her nose breaking out, and this stuff took care of it real well :thumbsup2
**We bought our turkey 2 weeks ago. Ultra had a deal that if you bought $25 worth of products than you got your turkey for like 60 cents a pound (or something like that) We needed Pull-Ups for Katie (yes, she's still in Pull-Ups at night :faint: ), and a couple other things anyway, so we took advantage of that deal :thumbsup2

STitchfans - Thanks for the congrats!!!:goodvibes

momto1 - I wonder if your son really does still believe?:santa: You'll have to keep us posted on this. I think he's just saying he does to you, because kids just don't allow other kids to believe that long anymore. The only reason why Stephanie didn't believe anymore, is because of the other kids at school. She told me that other kids told her :santa: isn't true, which annoyed me, because she was only in 4th grade last year. I was very very firm with her on keeping her mouth shut to other kids her age, unless they've confirmed they don't believe, because I don't want her ruining other kids last beliefs of Santa. I hope she's respected that

paint - Awesome color for the kitchen!!! :thumbsup2
Did you paint the whole room red, or just a couple of walls?
My Mickey Mouse bathroom has 2 red walls, and the toy room has one red wall (and one blue wall, and one green wall, and one yellow wall - I love that room).

Kim - I will ask Tupperware Joe what information is needed to apply your order to my party - thanks!!!!

Time to run
Have a great Friday everyone!!!

Morning everyone. Guess what? I got an email yesterday from another victim of that criminal in Naperville. He signed her up to repave her driveway took her $2000.00 down payment, and ran. Won't return her phone calls, nothing. As I said everyone beware of Bob Doyle from O'Shea Paving, Concrete, Brick in Naperville, IL. The stupid ServiceMagic is still referring him to innocent people even after being forewarned by me and this woman about what he is doing.:confused3 What a horrible scam. I guess the next warning is stay clear of ServiceMagic also.

Hey SLO- thanks for idea. Hope DD isn't lurking here. Will be checking out Toys R Us. :thumbsup2

Well no one else has posted anything there isn't anything else for me to comment on. Hope the lack of posts means everyone is out and about enjoying their day. Have a great day everyone!

Hi everyone! :flower3: I've been super busy but wanted to let you all know I posted pics of my invites in my PJ if anyone is interested. I designed them all by myself on photoshop(with some input from Mike of course;)) The condo hunt is frustrating. We put an offer in on a place on monday but the seller is refusing to budge on his price. Told his agent that he isn't selling his home for less than he's asking. Needless to say, we moved on. It was a very nice place but it wasn't like it was the biggest place we saw or the most updated or upgraded either. It was just nice, we liked the layout and the area and it was kept up with just fine. So, anyway, we are still looking...

Slo ~ glad you had fun at the tupperware party. I :lovestruc tupperware! It's so convienent!

Bunchy ~ sounds like you are having some nice weather... minus the winds. YAY for stocking stuffers. Going to my sister's for Turkey day. I'm bringing the yams and a pie. I :lovestruc pie!

Paint ~ good luck refinishing that floor! :wizard:

Hersey, Stitch, ID, momto1, Leigh, Kim, Piglet ~ :wave2: hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Happy Friday! :goodvibes

Not totally sure what we are doing this weekend. For sure, the kids are going to the dentist tomorrow. And we might go to this huge air show going on at the Air Force base tomorrow. It's like the Chicago Air and Water show, minus the water part!! And a lot more planes!!!!!! My fav! :goodvibes

slo Have fun shopping tonight. Tony and I like to shop together for the kids but it can be dangerous shopping with him. He always wants to over buy for them!!
I've heard Avon had a good acne system. I deal with adult acne on occasion and the product I use has helped so much. But I've been looking for something for Lauren as she gets tiny white heads occasionally. And to top it off she has become more interested in make up lately but that's a 'no go' for a least a while longer! She can stick with her assortment of lip glosses!!

stitchfans I hope something can be done about that contractor. Have you contacted the police? Or the BBB?

Kim No Market Day or similar here! And I miss it!! Used to order every month!

paint Hope you make it through your busy weekend and the tips are plentiful!!!! :goodvibes

momto1 I wonder too if your son still believes in Santa....at 13??

disneygal I know you and Mike will find something soon! Just be patient! :goodvibes

Laundry time here. Woohoooo!!!

Hi gang! As a follow-up to my Santa post yesterday - No, I don't really think he believes! He can't - he is 13! He is pretty naive, though. I do think he believed for a really long time.

I am so far behind on my Christmas shopping. I have some gift bought my not many. I am really trying to shop from local, small business owners this year - particularly for my dh. I still need the teen gadgets from the mass merchandisers for the best prices.

DS has a sore throat and cough. No fever though. So I sent him off to school. I hope it doesn't develop to anything worse.

Have a great weekend everyone!
Lori

I found a ipod clock/radio at ToysRUs for $99, and you get instant $20 off, and then a $10 gift card for the store:thumbsup2 This is one of the main gifts Stephanie is getting from Santa.
Does she have an Ipod already? That is just the dock/clock radio. I've learned these 'things' recently from my son. :worship: I saw you asked on FB also. CD's, if she has Ipod! Or, GC to buy CD's! I'm quite happy knowing my DD is enjoying music, among other things.

Kelly is getting an Ipod 160mgb, while her older bro has a 120. I asked him about trading with her, before she knows, but he says they can always do that later. ;) She won't trade after getting a new one with higher capacity! I got hers for $160!! :thumbsup2 His cost $250+ last year!

Kevin and I had a successful evening last night!!!!:santa:
The ipod clock/radio is purchased, and I think it will be perfect!!!!:thumbsup2
The house for Barbie is purchased, and I hope it will be perfect :upsidedow
*I say that because the "Barbie" house is $160.00 and it looks very cheaply made (very plasticy and weak looking). The only good thing about it, is it has lights and sounds. We found a generic house for Barbie that was less expensive, $99, and its made out of pressed wood (so tons more durable), but has no lights and sounds. I'm hoping she likes it {{fingers crossed}}.

I'm glad that these items are purchased, and now I don't have to worry about that anymore:thumbsup2 Stephanie also has her pink chair, in the attic, we are giving her too from Santa:santa: I need to get Katie another larger, less expensive item, and then both some smaller things, and then Santa is done:woohoo::yay:

I will be heading out to the mall again tomorrow with the girls to buy their Christmas dresses :santa: Stephanie is such a fuss budget about her Christmas dress, that I know this will be a long day. She wants it to be pretty, but not babish, which I can respect, but to find that perfect one, is always hard to do :faint:

Stitchfans - What a crook!!!!! I hope that guy is brought to justice for what he's done!!!!

Bunchkin - Have fun at the air show if you go :cool1:
**Stephanie would love to wear make up too, but it's also a no way here too :sad2: I got some different lip glosses from AVON for her stocking, that I know she'll like:thumbsup2 I know she's going to want to start wearing makeup soon, and I haven't decided yet on what is the appropriate age. Have you decided on an age for Lauren?

momto1 - How is your son today? I hope he is feeling better :wizard:

Kim - Stephanie has an ipod Nano, that she got for Christmas last year, from my mom. Alot of the music she has on it, came from the library. Last winter, we were going to the library every 2 weeks, and bringing home tons of CD's for both of us, and then I would put the songs we wanted on our ipods - it worked out really great!!!!!:thumbsup2

Time to get ready for work - I wish I didn't have to work on Saturdays:rolleyes:
Oh well - have a great weekend everyone!!!

Morning guys! Ahhh, the weekend! Not much planned around here, thankfully. Need to pick up more leaves (the never ending project) and clean out the gutters. Also need to put DMILs storm windows on but we'll do that tomorrow.

slo - congrats on the successful shopping. We have a iPod clock radio and a digital camera for DD12 so she's done except for small odds and ends. Nothing yet for DS9 but he's easy - anything Star Wars or Marvel comics or PlayStation will be a hit. DD8 is typing her list as we speak.
*Best of luck with the dress shopping, I know what a task that will be! ;)
**Last weekend at MILs I was fixing dinner and went through just the door of her fridge and she had salad dressings that expired in 2007 still! :scared: I pitched them without asking, wonder if she noticed. :confused3

momto1 - I hope DS is feeling better and that it didn't turn into something worse.

Bunchkin - hope you have fun at the air show if you go. Sounds fun!
*No turkey bought here yet, only have the small freezer on our fridge so no room to store it. I'm hoping they'll have them for $.49/lb like last year.
**DD12 would love to wear make-up too and I'm thinking of using some as stocking stuffers. I'm not real excited about it but it's not allowed at school so I've got a while before she really gets into it.

disneygal - will pop over to your PJ to check out the invites.
*Too bad about the condo but I think you were right to move on, there's a lot out there.

Stitchfans - that contractor sounds like a peach ;) . Have you reported him to the BBB, and ServiceMaster for that matter too since they're recommending him.

paint - hope your DD is feeling better.
*Wow, red sounds great. I've got the decorating bug too!

:wave2: to everyone else!

Time to run. Going out with an old friend tonight and I was supposed to pick a place to meet up and forgot. Time to figure that out and send her a text. Have a great day everyone! :flower3:

ETA: For anyone interested 93.9 Lite FM has gone to all Christmas music! :santa:

Happy Friday! :goodvibes

Not totally sure what we are doing this weekend. For sure, the kids are going to the dentist tomorrow. And we might go to this huge air show going on at the Air Force base tomorrow. It's like the Chicago Air and Water show, minus the water part!! And a lot more planes!!!!!! My fav! :goodvibes

Morning everyone. Tomorrow we will be visiting my dad and his wife. I really love those days. Don't get to see my dad as often as I like. Today is just catch up on errands, housework day. :sad2: Oh actually got an email from ServiceMagic since I threatened to report them for aiding a criminal. My previous emails and phone calls to them were ignored but now that I threatened to report them their tone has changed.

stitchfans I hope something can be done about that contractor. Have you contacted the police? Or the BBB?

Yes. contacted BBB, Lisa Madagan. Thought I would look like an idiot calling the police.

Stitchfans - What a crook!!!!! I hope that guy is brought to justice for what he's done!wave:

I sure hope so too.

Bunchkin- never went to the air show. I don't know why but going downtown makes me nervous. My entire life I can count on one hand how many times I have gone downtown. Heard it was wonderful though. Never saw the taste of chicago or any of the concerts and chances are never will.

ID- DH cleaned our gutters out last weekend. We had Leaf Guard here not that long ago ( I think that is what it was called), they quoted us $5000.00 for their gutters. :scared: Almost what we paid for a brand new driveway.

Wow SLO- you are really getting a great start on the holiday shopping. I am some what finished. At least with our extended family. Still trying to come up with ideas for both DD's and DH.

Disneygal99, KimRaye, Paintnolish, and anyone else I may have missed. Hi!

Everyone have a great day. Enjoy the sunshine. At least it is shining here!

Happy Saturday everyone!! :goodvibes

I was looking forward to sleeping in today, just a bit, but DS was up by 7am. He's not even up that early during the school week. He seems to do this every weekend. I could hear him watching tv so I got up too. Oh well!

We need to go out for shoe shopping in a bit before we head to the dentist. DS is getting a cleaning and exam and DD is getting a re-exam. When I first took her to this pediatric dentist, when she cracked her tooth off, they did a cleaning and looked at the broken tooth and told us she needed to see an 'adult tooth' dentist to get it fixed but they never fully examined her teeth to make sure she doesn't have cavities!!

I hate shoe shopping for DD. It is so difficult for her to find shoes she likes. And she NEEDS to have a black pair for chorus (she just out grew her other back shoes). They wear special shirts with the chorus/school name on them, black pants and black shoes.

slo I bet Katie will love the doll house!
If you ask DH when Lauren will be able to wear make up and he'll say 35!!! That's his answer to everything concerning her, including dating.
I will probably hold out till 8th grade or right before high school. I see a lot of kids at her school, 6th - 8th grade, wearing make up and they look like CLOWNS!! And she realizes that, thankfully! Kids out here are way advanced!! :sad2: Dyed hair, make up, tight clothes, lots of attitude...etc.
Lauren had great complement about her hair and face and what she was wearing given to hear by the women of the dentist office last week. And it was right after we were just talking about make up. And I think she apt to wait for make up. All though I know it interests here. It's just a natural process!! :goodvibes

irish dancer Don't give her the make up!! Hold out!! :goodvibes

Kim How would Kelly not know she got her brother's MP3??...and he got a new one?

stitchfans Hardly been to the city!!?? Are you afraid of crowds? Traffic? I'm guessing it can't be crowds since you've been to WDW, right?
We tried to go downtown as much as possible, and I can't wait to get back so we can go again!! I miss Chicago and all it has to offer! :goodvibes

Gotta run! Have a great day!

ETA: For anyone interested 93.9 Lite FM has gone to all Christmas music! :santa:
Was already listening! :thumbsup2

The ipod clock/radio is purchased, and I think it will be perfect!!!!:thumbsup2
If she's got a Nano, the dock and clock/radio WILL be perfect!

Kim How would Kelly not know she got her brother's MP3??...and he got a new one?
Matt would delete (or just not sync his songs again, thereby deleting them), so both would have 'clean' Ipods. Matt would then 'sync' the NEW Ipod to his music on his 'puter, and Kelly would start from scratch on her 'new' Ipod. Make sense? It did to me, when Matt told me, but he's chosen to wait, which he'll regret because Kelly WONT give up a 160 when Matt has a 120! :rotfl: They are identical in features and colors, except the memory capacity. ;)

Family party from 3-8 went to 10:30 and then Kelly & I went to my brother & SILs house til 2am! Playing Wii, talking, etc. Time to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......

I normally never post on Sundays, but I'm up early so I can go to work for awhile. I was going to go back last night, but then I decided I'd rather stay home and doze off in front of the tv, and go in this morning. So, I'm having my cup of coffee, and then I'm going to put on my sweatpants, and off to work (I sorta like it when I can go in like this, because I can work in comfort, and know that no one is going to see me). I figured I would stay until 10am, and then come home, have some breakfast, get myself together, and then take the girls to the mall for our shopping. This is going to be one of those busy days :faint:

ID - We need to do leaves again here too ::yes:: This tree in our backyard is really losing leaves early this year (I wonder if it's because of that crappy Oct we had). Normally this tree loses leaves in January, so we never pick them up until Spring. I don't forsee any time soon that we can pick these leaves up, because next Sunday I'm putting our living room Christmas tree:eek: I can't believe it's time to put that up - I feel like I just took it down:rolleyes:

Stitchfans - Normally I have even more than this done by now, but when Kevin was unemployeed, I didn't even consider shopping. I'm still not buying alot, but at least I feel a little more comfortable buying some things. Plus, I do shopping early, because I work so much, since I can't afford employees in this crappy economy. I sure hope that changes some day soon :upsidedow

Bunchkin - I can honestly say I'm not sure when we'll let Stephanie wear makeup. I know she would like to NOW, but she knows that's not allowed, unless she's in the house playing. I have always said though, that when the time comes, I'm going to take her to Clinque, and have them give her a make over, and teach her how to put on her makeup (she won't wear Clinque, I just want them for teaching only). She'll listen to them, before listening to me, because at that age, the moms know nothing  I would REALLY like to have her wait until 8th grade, but we'll see what happens. I use to sneak makeup out of the house in middle school, and I don't want her doing that, so that's why I'm playing it by ear. Having a girl, at this age, is just difficult when it comes to these kind of decisions:rolleyes:

Kim - I love those kind of parties, but I'm amazed you still took the time to post. I would be :faint: as soon as I got home :)

Well, I need to go to work, and get some work done.
Have a great day today everyone!!!

leaving for church in a few minutes.

your backs are covered for the week.............:thumbsup2

Howdy!! :wave2:

Going to the Air Show at the Air Force base today, which is the home of the Thunderbirds. It should be a good time and noisy too! :goodvibes

Dentist visit went mostly well yesterday. DD got her teeth examined and then her nails done! Yes, they do girl's nails while they have to wait for a sibling to get cleaned, etc. Didn't know that.
Hunter did well but his xray showed that one baby molar no longer has a viable root to it. Don't know when that happened or how. :confused3 So he has to have it pulled and a spacer put in until the adult molar comes in (which you can see it in the xray). So he goes in this coming Friday. They are going to give him some laughing gas to help with the discomfort and his nerves just in case.

slo I hope you get some work done! I like being alone and working. :thumbsup2
I like that idea about taking her to a make up counter for them to show her. And I think a lot of times it is free, or free with a purchase of something.

mac

Kim I was thinking that maybe Matt's would look a little worn and the other would look brand new. :confused3

Gotta run, time for breakfast and then gotta fly! :flower3:

WOW! That is cool, about the nails, I mean. Matt had something similar to Hunter - he had a pulpotomy (kid root canal) at age 5, and then we spent years having the spacer checked. :rolleyes1 It should be fine for Hunter. :goodvibes Laughing gas is Way Cool! :thumbsup2

Kim I was thinking that maybe Matt's would look a little worn and the other would look brand new. :confused3
Gotcha! ;) After Matt got his tho, he bought a clear, hard case for his and it shows no wear at all. He even has another case he's giving me for Kelly's! They should both look nice, even tho Matt decided to wait. :rolleyes1

My shoulder has been aching a bit all day and I thought it's because I slept 'funny', and then I remembered playing Toy Story Mania at my bro's last night til 2am! THAT might explain the aching shoulder. :rotfl: I can't wait to get this system and game for Christmas! I want to hook it up now, but it must be wrapped, given as gift, must be wrapped, given as gift.....lol, and NOT to ME!

Yesterday was a good day!!!! :goodvibes
I stayed at work until 10am, and got everything done I wanted to do :thumbsup2
Came home to a yummy breakfast Kevin made:goodvibes
Then the girls and I went to the mall for the afternoon - we haven't done this in probably a year or more. We searched and searched, and finally found their Christmas dresses (black and white this year) they are beautiful!!!! The girls also picked out a couple of new outfits, that they are not getting until Christmas day (they'll get wrapped up, and put under the tree). We also took some time to sit and have a little snack - Aunt Annie's pretzels. We really had a nice girls day out!!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

Mac - Thanks for the listings!!!!! :)

Bunchkin - I wish my dentist would do MY nails while I wait for the kids - that would be awesome!!!!:woohoo:
**I think a makeover is free, with a purchase of something too ::yes:: Which is fine for me, because I use all their facial products, and I can always use a refill on something. The actual makeup Stephanie will wear, when it's time, will be AVON, since I can get that at a discount. I will just get colors close to what the Clinque lady suggests :thumbsup2
**Poor Hunter about having his tooth pulled:guilty:I hope that goes well :wizard: Keep us posted!!!!

Kim - Toy Story Mania is going to be on my Christmas list :) I sure hope someone buys it for me {{fingers crossed!!!}}

My coffee is now gone, which means it's time for me to get outta the chair, and get my day started.
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Morning everyone. What a gloomy day. Weird our neighbor next door is having his driveway repaved right now in spite of the call for rain. I can hear all the heavy machinery in spite of the windows all being closed. :headache: Shouldn't last too long though.

SLO- sounds like you had a great weekend. Mine didn't go as planned. My dad again canceled on us so we didn't go there Sunday. Wish I knew what the problem is, as to why they cancel so often. :confused3 Saturday I ran errands. Went to Walgreens, Target, and Dominicks. Nothing exciting.

KimRaye- how is your shoulder? what did you do? hope it is okay now.

Bunchkin- so how was the air show? weather somewhat cooperated so that had to make it nice. not sure exactly what makes me so nervous about downtown. nope, I know it isn't the crowds though

macraven- again thanks for covering my back. :thumbsup2:laughing: some day I will get my lazy self out again back to church.

ID- love Christmas music. must tune in. :thumbsup2

Well moving on. Need to get some chores done after I read a few more posts. Everyone have a great day, and hello to anyone that I missed.

Morning guys! Just a quick drive by today. I can't believe Tgiving is NEXT WEEK! We're having MIL and BIL over, first holiday without FIL so it'll be tough. Went through our "menu" and made a grocery list, checked the sale ads and need to shop today. Busy week with 2 volleyball games, 2 practices and 2 days of dance.

Stitchfans - I LOVE the Christmas music too, have been listening all weekend. :cloud9:
*Unfortunately it doesn't look like we'll see much sun this week. :sad2: Time for me to start my vitamin D I think......

slo - glad to hear the shopping expedition went well. My kids are set since my nephew got married last month, they'll wear the same outfits.

Kim - lol, too funny about the shoulder pain from TSM. None of my kids have it on their list but they're getting it because I want it. :rotfl:

mac - thanks for the listings, hope you are well.

Bunchkin - what a great dentist, wish ours did that! Sorry Hunter needs to have a tooth pulled, hope he does OK.
*Hope the Air Show was a good time.
**I don't mean "real" make-up for DD12, just lip gloss type stuff. She's already got some limited make-up though from when she was in dance competitions.
