Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Good morning!

Yesterday we register Alex for high school. It took over 2 hours to get through the lines, get his locker and find the said locker. I forgot my checkbook so I couldn't get his gym shirt and shorts so we will have to do that next week before school. Who know some people still don't do at least debit cards :confused3

Today I have the day off and we are going to Brookfield zoo. I get a family pass each year and I always get busy doing one thing or another. It should be a good day to walk around.

Bunchkin  I am so sorry your SIL has to be such a PITA. They have Alex is honors english and biology this year. Our school has a new program that his is in. Its a college readyness program where they teach a different method of note taking that is taught in colleges and bring in diffent colleges to talk about what they offer. Plus they will have some college kids come in to tudor and give guidance. I hope it turns out they way I expect it too and it is not a big waste of tax money and time.

Hi guys! Wow, where is everyone?! Hope you're all having a great weekend so far. DD12 had basketball tryouts this morning then straight to gymnastics. Nothing planned now for the rest of the day. Tomorrow we have a wake for a friend's husband and dinner at the inlaws.

Hersey - hope you had a great day at Brookfield Zoo.

Kim - thanks for the links, will go check them out.

Bunchkin - so sorry about SIL, what a pain! I hope you survive her latest visit......

paint - did you finish your True Blood series?

slo - saw on FB that you had a great time at the fest. Hope you get some pool time this weekend.

mac - I don't even want to THINK about turning on the furnace. I'm looking forward to school starting for the kids but I SO don't want summer to end. I HATE Chicago winters!!

Leigh - when is your DLR trip for D23? Is it coming up?

:wave2: to everyone else!!

Well, I'm off to shred some chicken I cooked in the crock pot yesterday to stick in the freezer for later use. Also need to fold the laundry I've been washing this week......:rolleyes1.

Have a great Saturday everyone!! :flower3:

Sorry I've been a little MIA - Facebook has sucked me in:upsidedow
I'm starting to find all these fun applications, and I've been having a good time with them:)

Stephanie had her first soccer practice on Thursday night and she really enjoyed it:) Her coach said that she has a lot of energy, and with the right training, she would be really good - that was nice to hear!!!

Now I am sitting at work, with no new customers coming in - only pickups.
I hate it when I am this dead - it makes the day go by so slow!!!
I still have a lot to do, but I dedicate Saturdays to my desk, so I don't do any other work besides that. I could get started on some projects, but I come to work ready for church, and I don't want to get glue or dirt on my clothes.

The weather is really awesome today, and I hope it's this way tomorrow too :sunny:
The pool is calling, and my floatation device is calling even louder :teeth:
I love my float time!!!!:goodvibes

Bunchkin - Good luck with the SIL:wizard: I hope she behaves herself while she is there:wizard:
*Thanks for letting us know about the Happy Meals.

HERSEY - Wow, Alex is starting HS:eek::eek:
I think it's really cool how some of us have known each other for awhile now, and we've seen and heard about each other's kids growing up. Best of luck to him:wizard:I look forward to hearing about his HS adventures!!

ID - I hope your DD makes the basketball team:wizard:Please keep us posted!!

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I need to go and finish up some things at my desk, and get going home soon.
Have a good rest of the weekend!!

Hi! Hope you are enjoying this toasty summer weather. I am working tonight! It has bee na pretty quiet weekend there so far since I think everyone is swimming and bbqing!
Slo- I get sucked into those silly FB quizzes, too! I saw you were a frog, btw!:rotfl2:
ID-Didn't finish the books yet. I will probably stop after this one (the 5th) since school starts Tuesday for me and I have 1 psych class and 3 english ones, so I will have a ton or other reading to do!
Bunchkin- The books are better (of course) and really different. There isn't the crazy side stories with Tara and Jason-hardly any of that happens in the book!
Oh, well...Hi ho, hi ho...you know how the rest goes!

Hi all! I just found this board! I'm Erin, from Crystal Lake. I've been on the Disboards for about 9 months, I think. I just skimmed a couple of pages, but you all sound great! Hersey, did you go to that HS? If so, I did too! Class of '77 (now I'm telling you how old I am...). And Geffric, I too am the parent of a child in a band (The Con Men, winner of the Crystal Lake Park District and Regional Battles of the Bands, heading down to Springfield next weekend for the Illinois Finals!) It sure gets loud, doesn't it? But I love it!

I have two DS, 17 and 13 (senior and 8th), hubby, stinky old dog. I'm a substitute teacher for K-5, and always have at least one more job running. We're not DVC members, although we would be if someone dropped a big pile of money in my lap. I LOVE Disney, as do all of you, I'm sure, and we were last there during spring break when DS 17 (Greg) went with HS band and choir (yes, he's in everything, jazzband, regular band, high choir, madrigals, theatre, it's a wonder he does ANY homework). I'm looking forward to having some time to read through the board and get to know some of you a little bit. If anyone ever meets up for an evening, for lunch, etc., I'm game!

- Erin

:welcome::welcome: to erincon !

Good Sunday Morning Chicagoland Homies.......:goodvibes

i'm off to church soon.

will have your backs covered for the week.

Have you seen this thread? http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2258190 Tissue alert!!

:bride:

Yikes, I should have known better than following that link when you included "tissue alert". I'm a big crier and of course this time was no different. Only problem is I've already got my make-up on so now I've got to go clean up the runny mascara. Thanks for the link.

Have a great Sunday all. DD12 is going to see G-Force with a friend and we have that wake this afternoon. Small family battle going on over that, DH doesn't want to go. :headache:

mac - thanks for covering our backs. I was planning to go to church but now our schedule is messing things up.

erincon - :welcome: Hope you come by often! I live in the west burbs, married with 3 kids and teach Irish dance.

:wave2: to everyone else!

Gotta run, need to give DS a haricut and get the rest of the house going. Have a great day all! :flower3:

CarolAnn, i'm sorry but i will be missing you on this trip.
I leave on the 8th and that is when Geffric told me you would arrive.

One of these days we will meet!

Hi guys! Happy Monday! Wow, is it steamy out there! DD7 is at a bday party outside in a park, I'm so glad the rain seems to be holding for them.

mac - thanks for the listings. I don't think I've seen that RV one, will have to set the DVR.

CarolAnn - thanks for the review of the meet. Forgot that was this weekend....

Tiggerrn - the water park sounds like fun! At least you had good weather for it!

geffric - happy belated bday to Eric, hope he and the gf had a nice dinner.

slo - thanks for the good luck wishes for DD12. Everyone makes the team, tryouts are just to determine who is on the A team and who is on the B team. DD12 will most likely be on the B team as she doesn't have strong skills but likes to play.

Well, I'm off to pick up DD7 from the party. Then it's dinner and DH will probably want to exercise and DD12 has b-ball again. Have a great night everyone! :flower3:

Hi all! are any of you playing along with Millionaire? DH and I have gotten hooked on this -- he pulls out his laptop and I sit at the family computer -- I'm a game show nut so this is fun for me! (I know, I need a life!).

Geffric -- my niece goes to Fremd also! She's a sophomore this year. I know it's a long shot, but her name is Isabelle Adams. She's on the swim team. Happy birthday to Eric! We've had Greg driving for a year now, and it hasn't been bad -- you'll hold up! What's the name of your son's band? My son's is The Con Men (check them out on youtube.com/TheConMenBand).

We leave Friday for Springfield -- if any of you will be at the State Fair on Saturday, check out the Battle of the Bands at the Shed at noon.

I'll try to keep up with all of you! Happy evening!

- Erin
