Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Hi guys! Just came in from pulling some weeds, amazing how fast they grow!

piglet - glad Dewain is home and resting.

esbrick - wow, those stories are so sad! I've been trying to stay away from the TV as they rarely have anything good to say. :sad2:
*Happy Birthday to Meg! Hope she has a great weekend.
**YUMM strawberries, will have to see if I can fit that in tomorrow.

KimRaye - the only restrictions on carry-on bags is with regard to liquids and gels. All liquids and gels must be 3oz or less and must be in a 1qt size zip top bag, each person is allowed one bag. What we've done for WDW is ship a box ahead with all our liquids and gels and then do all carry-on.

mac - summer is over! I certainly hope not although I could do with a little lower temps. 80s is really my max, I guess I could do higher if it weren't for that darn humidity.

disneygal - how cool is that! He must be totally psyched, what an opportunity!

Leigh - congrats on the TLP figures, I've been staying away from DisneyShopping.com - dangerous!

Well, DH is due home today. Keeping fingers crossed he gets out ontime, there is a storm approaching NJ and I'm hoping his flight gets out before it hits. After the 8hrs he spent at the airport Tues I think he paid his dues!

Sunday we have our Family Picnic on my mom's side of the family. My kids are so excited to see all their cousins. Thankfully they're forecasting nice weather. Have to get to the store for all our stuff, need to make BLT salad as my contribution.

Well, I'm off to pick-up DS from day camp and then hopefully DH from the airport. We're having gyros for dinner so easy peasy! Have a great Friday everyone!! :flower3:

Dewain is home!! Sleeping on the couch right now, but at least he gets to be here. Now to convince him to take it easy for the next week or so.

That's great news! So happy he is home and you can fuss over him a bit!:lovestruc Have a great weekend!:thumbsup2

Irish Dancer ~ Thanks for the B-day wishes! She will have a great day:cutie: Good luck with the family party! I love having those:lovestruc.

My boss is out of town and I'm not really motivated to get much done today;) Can't wait for one of the guys to pick up some beer for an event tonight then I may head home for the evening and take a nap before dinner.;)

Happy weekend!

Dewain is home!! Sleeping on the couch right now, but at least he gets to be here. Now to convince him to take it easy for the next week or so.
 Take care of BOTH of you!

Leaving...on a jet plane.....see ya 7/6!

:grouphug: ALL!!!

Do you also ship it back as well? :confused3 I think I have us covered, with 1 checked bag ($11), and assorted the contents in our 2 (luggage) carry-ons (incase checked bag gets lost, delayed). We'll have a 3rd carry-on with stuff we need access to. Make sense?

SOMEONE needs to tell me HOW to pack lighter!!! I can NOT fit 3 people's clothes into less than what I have right now! This is WITH travel size toiletries, 5 days clothes for 8 day trip (laundry available), and minimizing EVERYTHING we could! There are so many OTHER things! :headache:

Going to bed now~~ leaving at 7:30 am. zzzzzzzzzzzzz

This is a very busy weekend for us.
*Our festival is this weekend, and Kevin is chairman of it, so we haven't seen him much all week.
Last night I took the girls to the fest, and we were there until 10:30pm - it was fun!! The girls rode rides, we ate to much festival food, and saw alot of people we know:)
*Today I work, and then church, and then back to the festival. The girls aren't riding rides tonight (not spending $$ on that again), we are just hanging out, and probably eating more festival food. Kevin is doing the White Castle eating contest, so we are going to cheer him on :cheer2:
*Tomorrow is our town parade, and I am riding with the girls on a firetruck. After the parade, there is a cookout at the firehouse for us, and other fire depts participating in the parade. Then back to the festival we go. Sunday is "The Best Pizza in Town" contest, which is always fun!!! Then we'll go home for a short while, and then back to the festival at night to watch the laser light show.
All during this craziness, I need to get Stephanie packed and ready for camp, because she is leaving on Monday morning. So this weekend is jam packed!!!! :faint:

So....how do you all feel about Michael Jackson dying?
I'm sad about it, because he was my very most favorite in the 80's:love:
He's been fresh in my mind lately, because I put the Thriller video on my ipod a couple of months ago, and I brought my Thriller album to the store a couple of weeks ago to frame as a framing example.
I've actually been sad about him for many years now. I've always felt that he had serious mental problems that he needed serious help with. It was very sad how his appearance changed, and how his outlook on life changed. This is just the final chapter in his terrible downward spiral. :guilty:I hope he has some peace now after his crazy, always in the spot light life.

Mac - Thanks for asking about my parents. My dad's Alzheimers is getting worse everyday. He still remembers our names, but everyday things he's forgotten how to do (brush teeth, take a shower, what to use to blow his nose, etc. ). My mom has started to going to Alzheimers meetings, which is helping her cope. She has many difficult days with him, and what's sad, is there's no light at the end of the tunnel, because it will get nothing but worse. Please keep them both in your prayers, especially my mom, she really really needs them!!!!

Bunchkin - I am so sorry to hear about your MIL needing Hospice care :guilty: I will keep her, and all of you in my prayers. Please please keep us updated on how she is doing:grouphug:

DG - I'm glad to hear that your dad is home and doing better :)

piglet - That's great that your DH is now home and resting. :)

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I gotta run and get ready for work
Have a great day today everyone!!!

Just a quick note to ask for some thoughts and prayers for our family today...Mark's brother died earlier this week, and we are doing the services today...

i do remember when you told us about him.
prayers for all of you.
it is never easy to let loved ones go.

Good Saturday Morning all!

Lots to do around here today. Need to finish unpacking BEFORE we leave for DL!!! With taking my mother inlaw to all her appointments I have had little time to get a lot done around here.

Hopsice came to see MIL yesterday and DH was there for the meeting.
She's still looking for a miracle and is seeing a new doctor on Thurs. at the cancer center to get a second opinion. Just so happens that her current doctor is leaving and going to a different center. So hospice is on hold till then. She put off chemo for over a year which is why her tumors are so advanced. And she's in denial she needs hospice help at home. She can barely get out of bed any more. It's very hard to convince someone of how much they need help when they are in denial.

slo I'm sorry to hear that your dad is getting worse. I hope the group your mom attends is helpful for her. I'll keep her in my prayers.
The fest sounds fun! Watch out for how much of that fest food you guys eat!! You don't want it to come back and haunt you on Mon!!

Donna I'm so sorry to hear that Mark's brother passed. My prayers go out to you and Mark and your family.

Kim Have a great trip!! See you in July!! :wave2:

Just a quick note to ask for some thoughts and prayers for our family today...Mark's brother died earlier this week, and we are doing the services today...

thanks, friends...

 you and Mark in in my prayers and thoughts..

Found my camera!!!! I really thought I lost or misplaced it! I was starting to freak out a little while searching for it!!

Here are a couple pics from out my bedroom windows! You'll notice some areas are under construction. There's a lot of that around here. Everything around here is new! In the last pic you can see a dude on top of that house, he's the one who wakes me up every morning with his little hammer. I'd like to take that hammer and ..................

Hi guys! Just a quick drive by.....:car:

Donna - so sorry to hear about Mark's brother. Will keep you in my prayers.

slo - sorry that your dad isn't doing well. I hope your mom gets a lot of support from her group. Watching your parents age is certainly not an easy thing.
*Have fun at the festival! It sounds like a bunch of fun, and you certainly have great weather for it!
**I've been trying to avoid all the coverage on Michael Jackson, I hate when "famous" people get so much coverage to the detrement of other news. Yes, I know what a huge figure he was but honestly there's a lot going on in this world do we really need so much coverage on his life/death?!

Bunchkin - wow, what views. Thanks for sharing.
*Sorry your MIL is being difficult. I hope she will come around and take assistance from hospice.

:wave2: to everyone else!

Have to run, we're going to the inlaws since we have my family picnic tomorrow. Have a great night everyone. :flower3:

Bunchy That guy would have a hammer much longer. Have you seen the commercial where the guy glues his neighbor hamme to the ceiling? :rotfl2:

Donna I am sorry to hear about Marks brother. My Prayers are with Mark and your family.

Slo I am sorry your dad's illnes is progressing so quickly. I will keep your mom in my prayers.

I wanted to pop in and say "HI" before the crazy day begins.
This is parade day, fest day, and then laser light show at dark.

Thanks, my friends, for all your thoughts and prayers for my mom and dad - they need them. Through this, we will all learn more about Alzheimers and how terrible this disease is. With any disease, we always know it's terrible, but you don't know how terrible until it happens to someone we know.

Donna - I"m sorry to hear about Marks brother :guilty: You are all in my thoughts and prayers :grouphug:

Bunchkin - Thanks for posting those pictures - your area looks really nice:)!! I would love to live where there's palm trees - there's just something so peaceful about them (IMO).
**I understand what you mean about your MIL being in denial ::yes:: My dad swears that he is perfectly fine:rolleyes:My mom catches him doing the weirdest stuff, but he thinks he's fine:sad2: This denial makes things so much harder on the family:guilty:
**When do you leave for DL?

Mac, HERSEY, and geffric - :wave2:

ID - Have fun at your family picnic today!!!:cool1:

Well, I must go change all Stephanie's packing with the change in temps for this week. I have tank tops and shorts for her, and now I need to change it to capris, tshirts, and maybe a sweatshirt. The weather is going to be awesome for her this week!!!!

Gotta run - have a good day!!!
