Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Donna ~ I am sorry to hear about your uncle,

Kim ~ That tooth will most likely never fall out. My husband had the same issue, but his never "dropped" down like Kevin's is. If we leave the tooth the way it is, it will possibly get covered over with tissue and may even damage the jaw.

I hear you on how expensive dental care can be. :scared1: Vision is no better.

Mat ended up not coming last night. Now we have to see what he is doing today and tomorrow. Dewain has not seen him at all this time around.

I missed the baby tooth talk when I was trying to catch up. I also still have a baby tooth with no permanent tooth under it. At age 39 it isn't giving me any problems though. It is just sitting there hanging out. I had braces for a whole other reason. From what I understand, it is hereditary, but I don't know my biological history as I'm adopted (closed, back in 70). My oldest, Mary, is the only one so far who has had xrays at the dentist and she's normal. It will be interesting to see if the other two have anything missing.

Slo- Sorry about your headache and also the alarm issues. It would not be fair at all for you to have to pay that as it is a structural problem.

Hey Chicagoland friends! I am still here! I have been out and about on the Dis but not keeping up with this thread...and it moves way too fast to try to play cath up now. So...hi "old" friends and hi "new" ones, too! I see there are some new names on here, so I'll intro myself briefly...FT student studying to teach HS Eng, waitress, mom of 2, married to dh for a little over a year, and been to WDW about 30 times (most recently in June).
So, now that I am back, I'll try to keep up...at least until school starts!
Hope everyone is doing well!:)

Good Afternoon Everyone! :flower3: YAY for days off. I don't really have any plans. We had new patio chairs delivered this morning so I arranged them in the Florida room/screened in deck. I brought the new cushions for them up and set it all up so when my dad gets home from work all we have to do is find a place to store the old chairs temporarily. They look very nice with our old patio table and they are quite comfy! :goodvibes Now I'm just hanging out on the DIS!

Donna ~ so sorry to hear about your uncle:hug:

Middlepat ~ :welcome: thank you for sharing the story about Noah. I'll think of him everytime I use the smilie:littleangel:

Erika ~ have a nice trip:wizard:

Kim ~ :wave2:

Slo ~ sorry to hear about the headache. I hope it goes away soon:wizard:
Good luck with the alarm system and the landlord. Maybe you can get the landlord to pay the bill from the village since it's their door that keeps popping open??? It might be wishful thinking.

Piglet ~ :wave2:

PAINT ~ Glad to have you back! :cool1: Hope you are doing well. Is this your last semester?

Everyone I may have missed ~ :wave2: have a wonderful day!

Hi gang! Only 4 more hours of work and let the weekend start! We are heading to our camper tonight, going to our niece's 1st house for a party tomorrow and then going to Bears Training Camp on Sunday. Doesn't sound like I will get much work done at home.

Slo - Hope you are feeling better! Bummer on the alarm system and door. I hope your landlord gets it fixed real soon and you don't have to worry and deal with it.

DG - You sound like you are enjoying your day off!

Paint - It is sooooo good to "see" you again! Don't be gone for so long next time!

Welcome to middlepat! Come by often!

Donna - So sorry to hear about your uncle. My prayers are with you and your family.

Hi to everybody else! Hope you all have a great weekend!
Lori

DGal- How are the plans coming along? I've popped over to your journal from time to time. I love the Photoshopped cake! And, no, this is not my last semester-I have 2 left then student teach next fall.
momto- Thanks!:goodvibes I'll try to be a better Diser!

Well,I am working all weekend. I picked up some shifts since I "picked up" this new ticker last weekend! My sister might be joining us, but it might be just the kids and me. Dh can't miss school, but I will pull the kids out a few days before their official break.
So, as they say...HI HO!

Hi all-
Haven't been on the DIS in awhile. I am out of the loop now.
Wanted to pop in to say hi :)
My kids are keeping me quite busy this summer.
Matthew is leaving soon for boy scout camp(Camp Napowan).
Both Chrissy and Matthew had an overnight camp experience with the junior high ministry at my church a couple of weekends ago.

Nicole- sorry to hear about Tony's mom passing.

Donna- sorry to hear about your uncle's passing.

Hi to Slo and everyone here on the Chicago thread :wave2:

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday - we had no electricity all morning.

Today is the girls family bday party, so I"m going to have to make this quick (Stephanie's bday was 7/22 and Katie's will be 8/21).
I woke up early so I could get things ready, and then be out of the house by 10am to pick up the cake, and the balloons :cake:

I can't get over the fact that it's August, and we have the windows open, and I was cold the last 2 nights - it's just not right!!!! We have the pool heater going so the pool is warm for the kids today. I hate putting the heater on, because it's costs so much $$$, but the pool chemicals cost alot of $$ too, so I want the pool to be used.

Thanks to all that sent well wishes for me to feel better :goodvibes
I do feel better, and I hope it stays that way.
Stress very easily gives me a headache - it's terrible:headache:. So on a day like today, I need to make sure I take my time, because I'll end up with a screaming headache. I wish I wasn't wired like this, because it's so frustrating!!!!

I gotta run - have a great day today!!!

On Friday, Kevin took Stephanie and Katie to the Bears training camp in hopes of getting alot of autographs. When Kevin went on the Chicago Tribune website he found this....

Bears2009.jpg

They were very excited to make the newspaper :teeth:

Slo I hope your day is stress and headache free. That is such a cute picture of Katie you should try to get a copy for her scrapbook.

Yesterday was such a junky day. It was soo cold and rainy. So glad it was only scattered rain :rolleyes1. Today looks very promising though.

I bought some flooring yesterday for my upstairs. The carpet up there is soo old I expect it to come up with no problems.

Well I better get a move on or all that I planned for today won't get done today either.

Hi gang! :wave2:

Been busy around here and at FIL's house. One more house to clean, one more person to do laundry for....etc.

Saturday we went to see the new Harry Potter movie. I really enjoyed it but as usual has way too many questions afterwards. I really need to read those books. DH has read them and fills me in on the details. :) Which doesn't bother me even though I plan on reading them.
Liked the movie! :thumbsup2

Today we took FIL bowling which he hadn't done in at least 18 years, maybe longer. He kicked my butt!!! I hadn't bowled in a while, but no where near 18 years ago!!! LOL!!!
I have issues with my hook and that's all I'll say in my defense!!

Still need to give you all my DL report and pics!!! Maybe I can do that this week, before it's a faded memory!!! EEK!!

slo Hope the girls had a great party!!! That's neat they made to the Tribune's website!!! :yay:

Hersey Is that the flooring you spoke of installing yourself? Wood?

Donna Sorry to hear of your uncle's passing.

I need to run! My turn at Animal Crossing City Folk on the Wii!!! Everyone here is seriously ADDICTED!!!!! :yay:

oh man, i *totally* forgot about hanging out on the DisBoards :( I hope everyone is doing alright! not much happening on my side besides really *really* missing Disney. I'm trying to watch all the old classics to not miss it so badly LOL but we'll see how that goes!

my condolences to those who lost family members :(
Welcome to the newbies I missed!

Oh man...I am really tired this morning!!!! :faint:
Our after party lasted until 12:30am, and I made it to bed around 1am :faint:
We had a lot of good laughs, but I wish today was not a work day.
Thank goodness I can't drink, or I would really be tired

The girls party was a great success!!!:thumbsup2
The kids had tons of funs (they got to swim for awhile, so that made them happy), I had a great time seeing my friends and family :goodvibes We have barely any leftovers, so that's good too ::yes::

HERSEY - How did the floor removal go? I hope it went easily for you.
**I think the photo was just on the website, but I'm thinking about getting it printed in a 5x7, so I can put it on her shelf in her room :)

Bunchkin - You are such a good DinL - I'm sure your FIL is so grateful :goodvibes

rachaface - Good to see you again!!!!:)

Well friends - I gotta go get ready for work
Have a great day!!!

Hi gang! I was so glad that yesterday finally felt like summer! Today should, too. The niece's housewarming party was fun. Her friends are fun. She had tons and tons of yummy food. Bears camp was fun, too. DS got some good autographs.

Slo- Glad the party went so well! Too cool that Kevin and Katie were on the Trib website. Neat picture.

Hersey - Good luck on the flooring removal and replacement. Want to come do my LR when you are done?

Bunchkin - Good to hear from you! Do update us on the DL trip.

Better get to work. See you all later.
Lori

slo- Hi! How have you been? Sounds liek the dds's party was a success! My dsis and I used to have a shared party when we were little since both of our bdays are in July. Nice pic, btw...she's famous!
bunchkin- OMG, when we first got Xing we were so addicted...dh and me! Have you been to the Dis thread? I went to visit other towns through other Disers...cool!
rachaface- Hi! Not a newbie but was seriously MIA for awhile!
momto, Hersey, rose, everyone...Hi!

About baby teeth...I still have one. It is the third from the middle. I hate it, but I don't/didn't want to have it pulled and get partial braces to pull it down. Oh well. Guess it ruined my modeling career!:rotfl2:

Work was good this weekend. It was very busy! Every dollar earned is another dollar for WDW!
I was also feeling a little guilty about taking yet another WDW trip, especially one without DH, but he has become obsessed with golf lately and wanting to buy a fairly expensive set of clubs. I was encouraging him, and I finally admitted if he did it would make me feel a little less guilty about going to WDW!:rotfl2:

Hi guys! Well, another weekend sped by and it's already Monday night! I finished up school supply shopping over the weekend. Got some good deals at Meijer. Just need school shoes for DD12 and NOT looking forward to that shopping expedition. Now that she's in adult size shoes it is very $$$$$$ and our tastes do not match. Trying to convince DH he should take her, he's not falling for it.

DH and I watched a documentary type show over the weekend called The Long Way Round. Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman rode motorcycles around the world. Started in London, went across Europe through Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Siberia. Flew to Alaska, down through Canada and across the US to New York. It was amazing to see parts of the world I've never seen and the conditions they survived was mind boggling.

DS8 is now sick, fever and sore throat. Strep came back negative but was still prescribed antibiotics due to symptoms. Missed camp today but wants to go tomorrow, they are going on a field trip to Kiddieland. He hasn't had a fever since yesterday so I think I'll send him.

paint - glad to hear business is good, every penny counts when you're saving for a WDW trip.

momto1 - wow, busy weekend! Glad to had fun at the party!

slo - so glad the girls party was a success albeit a late night. You had great weather!
*Cute pic of Katie, what a rememberance!

rachaface - good to see you around again, don't be a stranger!

Bunchkin - glad to see you around, I agree with slo - you are a good DIL. Your FIL is lucky to have you guys around. I hope he's coping a bit better.
*Looking forward to hearing about DL. We're thinking of going in 2010.

Hersey - I hope the flooring removal/installation went well.

rose - glad to see you around again too! Isn't it amazing how fast summer is going?!

mac - hope you had a great weekend in Mackinac Island!

 to all our new friends - Welcome!

:wave2: to all our old friends - hope life's treating you well!

Well, I'm off to straighten up and head to bed. Meeing some friends for coffee after dropping DS at day camp tomorrow. Haven't seen them all summer, will have lots of catching up to do. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!! :flower3:

Hey howdy hey!!

It's been a scorcher here lately!!! Yesterday afternoon the thermometer in the car said the outside temp was 110!!! :faint:
I commented to DH that I cannot figure why anyone would live here voluntarily!!!....but I could see being sent here as more of a punishment!! :rotfl:
Needless to say the kids and I didn't go out today.
I did finally get some things done around here though that I haven't had the time to do.

FIL asked DH today when we would be going bowling again. So obviously he had a good time.

slo Glad the party was lots of fun and the kids got to swim!! Too bad you didn't get much sleep though. It's hard for Tony to stay up late too, since he gets up at 4am!! He likes to try to be in bed by 8 - 8:30pm but usually it's between 9-10pm.

paint I bought into your theory on the golf clubs!! :thumbsup2
Yay for the tips!!!

irish Hope your son is feeling 100% better soon!!
Have a good time with your friends!
Not sure what we are doing about school supplies yet. DS's school sent a note saying the school district supplies everything!!!! Things are really different out here!!! And no school fees! That's a new one too!

momto1 Sounds like you guys had a good weekend!!!
What did your son get the autographs on? Football, paper?

:surfweb:

I was going to go my Leads Group this morning, but I'm going to work early instead. I have alot to do, and I didn't do much yesterday. I just kept walking around wanting to do stuff, but never really got anything accomplished - it was ridiculous:upsidedow. I was just so tired, that I had no energy to do anything. Last night I cleaned up after dinner, did a couple of things around the house, and then sat on the backporch and played with my Nintendo DS for about 45 mintues - I haven't done that in FOREVER!!! I had alot to do in the house, but I just wanted to chill out, so I did:thumbsup2 Then the kids and I were in bed by 9:30pm - it was nice!!! :)

Tonight we are going to The Night Out Against Crime in our town. I have never been, so I'm curious on how it will be. Kevin will be there with the FD, so that's why we are going, plus, they are having hotdogs there, so we'll have a free meal:thumbsup2 I've been invited to have a booth there, but I'm not sure if it's worth it to me, so going tonight, will give me an idea if I should do a booth next year.

momto1 - That's great you got autographs, because Kevin only got an autograph - Kevin Hester. He was going to go back yesterday, but he decided not to. He said the radio said it was going to rain, and I think it's because he was to tired from being up to late the night before

paint - I've been good, but very very busy at work, which means I am not home much - thanks for asking!!!! I'm hoping and praying that having this business will continue through August, and not just end like running into a brick wall - it would be nice to have a little $$ for the winter months, so I don't stress as much about how to pay the bills.

ID - I'm sorry to hear your DS isn't feeling well :guilty: I hope he feels better soon!!!:wizard::wizard:

Bunchkin - 110  I love the heat, but that's really hot :sunny: Do alot of people have pools there?

Well, I must go to work, and get some work done today
Have a good day everyone!!!

GOOD TUESDAY MORNING CHICAGOLAND HOMIES........

I'm back and I'm tired........

I could sleep another of couple of hours today ......

Hi gang! Only 2 more days of work for me this week! I am taking Friday off to celebrate or drown my sorrows - not sure which yet - about my baby turning 13. I can't believe I will have a teenager on Friday. I am not ready for this!

Mac - Welcome Back! Did you bring us some fudge? Hope you had fun!

Slo - Have fun tonight! A free meal sounds good to me. DH heard that the total attendance at Bears Camp on Sunday was 10,000 people! I guess ds is lucky to have gotten any autographs!

ID -Hope your son feels better soon!

Bunchkin - OH, my...it sounds hot by you. Stay cool! DS got autographs on the fan guide he purchased. He is really organized about brining Bears stuff to get signed. He did bring orange and blue sharpies for the autographs, though!

Paint - Good thinking on the golf clubs! No feeling quilty now!

Got to get back to work.
Lori
