Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Slo ~ That is a huge difference! I don't notice an increase in our water bill but do notice the electric bill is higher when I wash clothes every day.

"Hanna Montana" was actually a very good movie. Dewain ended up going with us, and all three of us liked it. Lauren and I also got our hair done yesterday. Lauren just got a trim to clean her cut up, while mine is now about 5-6 inches shorter. I am trying to do stuff with the camera, so maybe I can get a picture posted later.

Hi guys! Quiet day around here today, the girls are in Lake Geneva with my DSis and DS is at school. Going to head out for a walk with the dog shortly to enjoy some of the sunshine.

dex0x1 - Welcome to the thread! Hope you come around often.

slo - I've been wondering where mac is lately too, hope all is well.
*That's a pretty good savings. Our water and garbage are on the same bill and it runs us $150-$170 every other month. I'd love to be able to cut that down, it just seems like a lot of money for water and garbage.

geffric - I hope your DS doesn't get sick from being out in that weather, that is one thing I DO NOT miss as DD12 isn't doing track this year.
*Thanks for the heads up on Mousesavers, I'll check them out. The in-laws will only be with us for 3 days but my MIL cannot get by without a ECV.

paint - sorry your DS was sick, I hope he's feeling better now.

Tiggerrn - Welcome Back!! I'm glad you guys had good weather. Sound like you guys had a good time.

disneygal - an ECV is an Electronic Convenience Vehicle otherwise known as a scooter. MIL had a stroke 16yrs ago and doesn't have use of one side of her body so she cannot walk much and needs the scooter to get around.

piglet - oh, I went short this time, very, very short - think boys haircut. Still needs some getting used to but I think it will work great in WDW in June when it's hot and humid.
*Don't worry about getting everything out right, we'll get the gist of it I'm sure. Glad your appt was bumped and here's some PD that you'll get a cancellation soon :wizard:.
**My girls went to see the HM movie too and really liked it. DD12 now wants to get the soundtrack.

Well, I'm going to head out for my walk. I also need to put together a bio and picture and forward it to that dance studio. I worked things out with them and I'm going to teach 4 classes there over the summer. I also need to drop off the contract and deposit for DDs communion party, DSis and I are going together on one party and using a park district building. Buzz..buzz..

Have a great day everyone and enjoy the sun! :sunny:

Hi gang! I'm back! Actually, I was back on Monday, posted a thread, went to change my ticker, and poof it was gone! I haven't had time to read what you have all been up to but I will.

The trip was great! The weather was good except for Tuesday when there was record breaking low at night.

News reports said that this was the best year in 5 years for the attractions in the Orlando area. MK closed by late morning on at least 2 days as they were at capacity. Typhoon Lagoon closed one day. They were parking cars on the grassy areas and busing people in as the trams didn't go to the grassy areas.

Despite the crowds we rode and saw almost everything we wanted to in record time. We didn't do Test Track or Soarin due to a 4 hour wait for Test Track and 2 hour wait for Soarin and no fast passes to be had. Otherwise, the longest wait we had was 30 minutes at Haunted Mansion. We couldn't believe it!

Food wise - Cape May Clam Bake is a keeper. Liberty Tree for lunch was good but I am not sure it is on my must do list. Plaza was good but would probably only go for the ice cream creations! The Brownie Sundae was huge! Trails End for lunch was OK - maybe or maybe not go back. Whispering Canyon was fun as ususal. We did Flame Tree for walk up which is good, I think.

Better get back to work! Enjoy this fabulous weather!
Lori

:surfweb:

piglet - I desperately need to get my hair cut, because it hasn't been done since last July. I bet it feels good to have it shorter:)

ID - I"m so glad that everything worked out with the dance studio :woohoo:
**Our water bill has garbage and storm sewer included too ::yes:: It's crazy how expensive that bill can get. The downfall of doing what I'm doing is the large amount of laundry that's building up, but I'll wash it when I need it. I just hope I don't realize I need something until it's to late - that would not be good :sad2:

momto1 - Welcome home!!!! All I can say is.........4 HOURS FOR TEST TRACK?!?!:scared1: I could never wait 4 hours for any ride :sad2:I'm glad to hear the recession isn't hurting them - that's good news!!!! :)

Mac - Where are you??????

So, what is everyone doing this weekend?
I am crazy busy with errands tomorrow morning since I've worked so much this week. Then I take the girls tomorrow afternoon to grandmas, to spend the night, because Kevin and I are going to a wedding. I may attend the actual wedding after dropping off the girls, but I'm not sure yet, because I need to check in on my dad (my mom's gone all day) and be at Mass by 4:15 so I can speak to the congregation about being a lector (this is to try and recruit new people to lector). Then after that I go straight to the wedding reception. There's ALOT going on tomorrow!!!! :faint:

Have a good day today!!

Morning..

Yesterday I worked at Meals on Wheels and then enjoyed the outside. Today I am thinking of getting some flowers and planting them. OOO that feels so good to say that..

Last night was Troop Committee and both Dh and I decide that was the last one.. one to Venturing for us!!

This weekend, Eric's band is playing at DeKalb tonight and then at Hoffman Estates in Sat.. Geoff and DH are going to Spring Camperee..

momto1 - Welcome home.. glad you had a great time at WDW..

I feel flowers coming on...

Good morning! It looks like it is going to be beautiful out.:yay:

WOW a whole week without Mac.:sad1:

Geffric I am planting my plants I recieved in the mail tomorrow. They will be so happy. I am glad tomorrow is going to be a good day also.

Slo Glad you explained your water bill. 'cause mine is only $17 and I live with a "fish" named Alex.

Well I better get some work done. Later Gators

Mac ~

Off to enjoy the nice weather. I am taking Nathan to The Little Red Schoolhouse (yesterday was too crazy here) so he can take some photos. Found out that Tastefully Simple is giving me an anniversary present, I can update my website for free. I need to get a nice picture though, so I plan to hire Nathan for that. He works cheap, all I have to do is buy him lunch.

Mac - Wow, I'm glad they got it in time! Hope you're feeling all better soon!

Hi Chicago Dis-ers, I'm a Texan who visited your city last weekend and had a fabulous time! I was so impressed with the friendliness of each and every person we encountered.

We only had one day in Chicago so we drove to Wrigley Field and Soldier Field per hubby's requests! We did get out at Wrigleyville and had lunch at the Goose Island brewery. We also ventured across the street and had a look around inside Slugger's. The bear in the phone booth was a nice touch!

We had a family reunion in Aurora so we drove there next. We spent most of our time at hubby's aunt's condo visiting the family, but we managed a side venture to Walter Payton's Roundhouse where we had a total blast. Hubby and son are lovers of different kinds of beer and they were in heaven! Our bartender, Laura, was an absolute hoot and the food was really outstanding. We were fascinated with the history and architecture and of course the men adored seeing the football memorabilia. We caught a glimpse of the old downtown Aurora and it looked so quaint and unchanged from days gone by.

I was so glad that we got a taste of your city and we are dreaming of going back again! Thank you Chicago for your fine hospitality.

Hi gang! What a glorious Friday! We are heading to our camper tonight. Tomorrow ds has baseball practice and Sunday morning has a baseball game. I am gonig to visit my nephew who had a 4 wheel accident on Easter Sunday. He is on the road to recovery now after spending 4 days in the hospital and surgery.

Mac - Prayers for a speedy recovery. You are missed!

Slo - I got my haircut right before vacation. I get my cut about every 6 months, too. Have fun at the wedding!

Geffric and Hershey - I haven't even thought of plant yet! I better get busy. Enjoy digging in your yard!

Texasthumper - Glad you enjoyed Chicago. I haven't been to Goose Island in years but it used to be one of our favorite places to go.

Hi to everyone else! Have a great weekend!
Lori

Morning..:surfweb:

Yesterday we had DH's brother and wife over for dinner. I got a ham from Costco and it was very good.. made salad, asparagus, green bean cassorole and had fresh pineapple. DSIL brough pototes, a bean thing and desssert.

Be back later..

was that ham kosher..........

:surfweb:

We haven't seen Mac lately:guilty:
Does anyone remember if she said she was going out of town?
Mac, where are you?
Please check in soon - we miss you!!!! :grouphug:

i have now been sprung.
got home at 8:50 last night.

haven't felt good in past 2 weeks.
had an eye infection and it cleared 5 days before i got sick again saturday.

i still have cellulitis but it is now under control with medication for home use.
have to be taken to my internist today to measure progress from hospital release time to now.

all i did for 5 days was lay in a hospital bed on iv's.
infectious disease doctors were called in on monday night to determine the correct meds for the infections.
i started to improve on that tuesday and was able to be released thursday night.

i'm only up for short periods of time and have to hit the bed soon before i have to leave for the doc visit.

catch you chicagoland homies later.

geffric: thanks for finding me over in that thread.
when i was taken by emergency to the hospital, i didn't even have a purse with me. just my cell phone in my pocket. i had the number of a homie on the UO board in my phone and was able to call her when i was able to sit up in the hospital bed.

i know i'll be fine soon.

now to continue in the manner of the chgoland homies,
a big welcome to the newbies here.

Mac I am really glad you are back. Be good and follow the doctors orders :thumbsup2 and you will be back on the good track.

I am off to have Alex's contacts checked out.

Just a quickie-been reading but too busy to post!
Mac-:hug:glad you are back and on the mend!
Piglet- for the problems you are having. We are here for you! On a lighter note, the HM movie wasn't bad? I want to take dd next week!
slo-:hug:I know how hard it is to own your own business! I have worked for 2 family owned restaurants-one is successful, the other went bankrupt! I felt so bad for them, too, since they put so much into it! As far as scrapbook stuff, I was thinking along the lines of premade pages and album or dolled up frames or pages that could be framed or shadow boxed. That was whoever makes them (I know a few people) could just have them in the store. If they don't sell, no loss.
TXThumper- Glad you enjoyed your visit. You should come back in summer and enjoy the sights. We've got lots of recommendations, too!
ID- I could never go short...think afro. I have really curly, thick hair!
Tig and momto- Welcome back! Posting pics or TRs?

Busy, busy as semester finishes! Ds ended up being fine. He is a random puker. You know how you can get nauseous but talk yourself out of it? He just goes with it, I think!
Anyway, time for bed!

This is a quick drive by before I get ready to tackle my day :car:

Mac - I'm so glad to see you here, and I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to you  You are in my prayers to get better soon, and to stay better. The last 10 months haven't been kind to you, and I pray that that changes soon  Take care our friend, and we are always here for you!!!:grouphug:

geffric - Thanks for the update yesterday!!!!:)

To everyone else - I read your posts, but I have no time to comment today. So I'll say :wave2: and

Gotta run!!

Good morning everyone!

Yesterday was such a beautiful weather day, too bad there was a job dragging me down.;)

TXThumper Glad you liked our city. We are partical to it also:flower3:

Piglet

I better get moving I have a lot to do today.

Ok I have strange neighbors one was pushing a stroller while wearing skates

Crissup - I'm Sk8ieSH on Twitter. I'm trying to anonymous on that, though, so if you say anything to me, just don't use my name.

Funnily enough, I tried searching for usernames starting with sk8, but didn't find anything. I also checked the list of users following the DIS' Twitter feed. LOL!! I get on a mystery and I start tracking things down just to see if I can solve it. :lmao:

I don't do Facebook because of the privacy concerns. Facebook has gotten into trouble a couple of times over their poor attitude towards people's private information. Twitter has been really good about resolving issues in that area. There's been more than one case where someone assumes someone's name as their Twitter account for the wrong reasons and Twitter has taken the account away and turned it over to the rightful owner. Facebook has refused to delete people's personal information once it's been posted, claiming once it's posted, it's Facebook's property to do with it as they please.

SLO - KttK is keys to the Kingdom tour at MK.. I did that a few years ago .. and it was well worth the time and $$..I loved learning about MK and seeing the parts backstage...

Carol and I did KttK several years ago. We enjoyed it a lot, but it pushed the limit as to how much Carol could endure. It was very hot out that day and she couldn't use an ECV because of all the places you go. It was fun though.

disneygal - an ECV is an Electronic Convenience Vehicle otherwise known as a scooter. MIL had a stroke 16yrs ago and doesn't have use of one side of her body so she cannot walk much and needs the scooter to get around.

Carol uses one because the heat gets to her fast and she just can't last without it.

We love Cape May. We did LTT for lunch one time. While I enjoy it for dinner, I didn't care for the lunch too much. I can take or leave the plaza. Love Trail's End for breakfast and dinner.

Welcome back Mac!! Glad to hear you're feeling better! :)

Good morning!

Looks like it is going to be a rainy day here. Good thing I spent yesterday outside. I did get a lot of yard work done still have tons to do, oh well.

I may spend today on the couch. I did too much. My muscles are screaming this morning.

John I agree on The Plaza not bad just ok good place to be when its hot out. We really like Trails end :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a good day

Yesterday was all screwed up because my employee was sick, and I had to work unexpectedly :guilty:So I wasn't able to get any of my errands done, and then I had to shut the store down a 1/2 hour early so I could go home and get ready for chuch and the wedding we went to - it was crazy!!! So, now I"m totally behind on everything I needed to do this weekend - I hate it when that happens:headache:

The wedding we went to though was lovely, and it was good to see many friends. I wish everyone's lives, including mine, were not so busy so we could see each other more. Maybe someday - when we all retire:rolleyes:

The girls are not here today, because they spent the night at my inlaws, so it's very quiet here. I'm going to catch up on some things that need to get done, and make a grocery list for tomorrows shopping trip to Aldis. Then we are having dinner at my inlaws, which is very nice of them.:goodvibes

Have a good day today everyone!!!
