Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Hi all. Busy working and training for new computer system. So not liking trying to teach this new system to those who never use a computer. They really have no idea what you are talking about!:rotfl:
Mac, sorry to hear you have been so ill. I certainly hope you are on the road to mending all ills. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that you will be healed soon.
Welcome home Momto1. Glad you had good weather and a good time. I was thinking of you while we were in DL. It looked like it was cool in Orlando. We had some cool weather as well.
geffric, awesome on the WDW/US tickets! So when do you leave?!:rolleyes1Need any company?!:rolleyes1:rolleyes1
Piglet, I hope you get into the neuros office soon! :wizard::hug:
Slo, glad you had a good time at the wedding. Did you enjoy your quiet afternoon?
Paint, good luck with testing coming up. Hope all is well with you.
Sk8, hope you are doing well also.
Crissup, I did the KTTK tour last summer! I loved it! But I think I already knew many of the insider secrets from all of my DisBoard friends.:rolleyes1But it was still really neat to see the secret tunnels and backstage areas.
Hi Hersey. Hope you took a hot soak to heal those sore muscles.

Everyone, I am passing on DD school exhibition project action plan. Please check out www.nwf.org and fill in the Good Neighbor Pledge at the bottom of their global warming page. DD is trying to encourage others to help conserve energy to reduce global warming and keep the ocean life alive and well. All you have to do is check off what you would be willing to do at home to help conserve energy. And pass it on to your friends and family. We all need a cleaner world to live in. Thanks for your help.
I'd better get moving. We still need to finish proof reading the research paper portion of this project.:headache:
Later.

Good morning!

Mac Glad you are back and posting disney listing for our viewing pleasure. Rest up no more hospitals. Repeat hospitals bad.

Slo How was your quiet yesterday?

All the time I spent on saturday washing floors were dashed in less than a nano second by 2 dogs:rolleyes1 Why do I bother? I should attach mops to their feet

Tigg I feel for you. Alex had to do a project like your daughter. He turned in to the water police :scared: except he has forgotten about the poor fishyes when he is in the shower

These grey days make it so hard to feel energized - I hate that!!!

geffric - That's great about being able to go to Florida!!!:cool1:When are you going?

TTTTiiiggernnnn - I took the pledge:thumbsup2

Mac - thanks for the listings!!!:)

Tig and HERSEY - I did enjoy my quiet day ::yes:: I was able to be on the computer longer than normal, we ate a homemade breakfast with peace and quiet, I was able to get a lot done around the house w/o interruption - it was nice!!! But as nice as it was, I was really glad to have them come home :goodvibes

Time to get ready for work
Have a great day!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Seems it was quite a busy weekend around here. Friday Mike and I went to the Cubs game! They won!!! Saturday we had rehearsal for a choir we are in then I had a Lia Sophia party to attend. Sunday we went and bought Bridesmaid dresses! They are NOTHING like I was planning but I love them and I'm pretty sure all the ladies love them!

Slo ~ I hate grey days too!

Well, back to work I go... have a wonderful day! :wave2:

Evening guys! Well, we're all back to the grind today. Everyone was cheerful on their way out to school, I was surprised. ;)

geffric - thanks for the free cone info, unfortunately we don't have a B&Js around us anymore. :sad1:
*Congrats on scoring the tickets, that's really a great deal!

disneygal - congrats on the bridesmaid dresses!

slo - I know how you feel, it's so much easier to get motivated when it is sunny! Although, I was very productive today.

Hersey - we've learned to make sure we shower before DD12 or else we'll have NO hot water. I think she'd stay in there all day if she didn't run out of hot water. :rotfl:

mac - so glad you're on the mend. That sound scary, I hope all gets better soon for you!
*Thanks for the listing, I've seen that J&K+8 episode. DD7 is a huge fan of the show. I can easily do without, the novelty has worn off for me and Kate gets on my nerves.

Tiggerrn - will check out that link, good luck with the project.

 to everyone else.

Can't wait for the weather they're forecasting. Going to feel like summer by the end of the week - yeah!

Well, gotta run. Have good night everyone. :flower3:

I am going to a leads group early this morning at 7:20am. My friend invited me to come as her guest, because she thinks it would get me some business. We'll see what happens!!

DG - Congrats on finding those dresses!!:) What color are you having again?

geffric - I wish I had a Ben and Jerry's by me:sad1:What flavor did you get?

ID - I"m glad everyone got out the door well yesterday. I hope today is successful too:wizard:

Well, I better get myself ready for this meeting. I'm glad Kevin is home today to get Steph out the door. Without him home, I wouldn't be able to go.

Have a good day everyone!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: I hear there is a light at the end of the tunnel... (aka, 80degree weather by the end of the week) :cool1:

Slo ~ They are tangerine. definitely not what i had planned but they are fabulous so i'm happy! :goodvibes

ID ~ glad everyone was in a good mood this morning! :thumbsup2

geffric ~ thanks for the info.

everyone else ~ :wave2: have a good day!

Morning everyone!
Thanks to all of you who are checking out DD project website. It is going well. I am waiting to hear from her teacher where we go from here now.
Also, while I am talking homework projects, how much help do you all give your kids? DH was really nagging me about helping, but I feel like with the amount of work the kids get and how advanced their learning levels are, they wouldn't understand what they were doing if we didn't help. I mean, this project is a huge research project with bibliography and the whole bit. What 5th grader really understands how to do a research project/bibliography/action plan? And math is ridiculous at this age. It's Algebra that I did in high school for Pete sake.
DG, I spotted the cutest wedding favors if you haven't already found them. M&Ms makes Disney themed M&Ms and they have a wedding set. I saw them on Mousesavers this morning.
Slo, how did the meeting go this morning?
geffric, no B&J by me either.:sad2:Saved me some unneeded calories.:rolleyes1
ID, I am looking forward to this nice weather coming up as well. Of course, now that we are home from CA they are having record heat.:headache:We always miss out on the good stuff.
Anyone going to see Earth this week? I am hoping to take the kids tomorrow after school and get the tree planted in our honor. Another thing to help with DD project.
Well, I had better get moving. This is the first day since we returned home 10 days ago that I have the chance to put away :laundy:that I have been doing and leaving folded in the basket downstairs and to run the vacuum. It's a little Tigger hairy around here.:rotfl:(I have swept though, just so you don't think I am a total slob. OH, and I have mopped the sticky spots on the kitchen floor with wet paper towels.:lmao:)
Later.

ugh, can i just say... i'm about to give my office printer a nice swift kick in the paper feeder. :sad2: .

i have a bunch of letters to print before my meeting at 3pm and it keeps randomly stopping. then it will print the 3rd page but not the first two. then it printed the first and third but not the second. i seriously think it's possessed! i'm going to another printer. k... i'm done venting now. thanks for listening! :)

LOL, our printer at home is like that! I swear it has a 6th sense. Whenever I need to print something in a hurry it almost always jams or won't feed the paper!! When I was teaching dance it would do this when I was rushing to get a newsletter or calendar printed before leaving for class.

Hope you found a cooperative printer!

I am really loving how it's not dark when I get up now:)
It makes starting the day that much easier!!

DG - I had to chuckle about the printer, because mine at work is a pain the arss. In fact, I had to buy a generic receipt book so I could give my customers a receipt when my printer doesn't want to print. Then when I do this, it prints 20 seconds after they walk out the door:headache:Computers - can't live with them, and can't live without them:upsidedow
**The tangerine sounds lovely - especially for Florida!!!!:goodvibes

TTTTTTTTiigernnnn - We have to help Stephanie with her homework and projects, because school doesn't come very easy for her. Every night we sit with her while she does her math, and I always assist her with projects. If I knew that Steph could handle it, then I wouldn't do all this, but since I know she can't, I really need to be with her.
**I can hardly wait to hear what your review is of Earth. I want to take the girls, but if it's not worthy of all that money, than we'll wait until it comes out on DVD.

ID - When do you start teaching dance class?

Mac - How are you feeling? Please check in

Well, I must go eat my grapefruit, and make Stephanie's lunch.
Have a good day!!

Morning!

Kevin is off of school today due to testing. Seniors are off today and tomorrow, Juniors are taking the PSAE both days, Sophomores take the PLAN test today and Freshman take it tomorrow.

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Still haven't heard back from our wedding consultant regarding the booking process. I hope everything is going alright with it. she said she'd forward us the email she received to confirm we are 'held'. i'm just getting so anxious.

Slo ~ I also love that it's getting lighter earlier! :cool1: makes waking up so much easier!

Tigg ~ I've heard about the Disney M&Ms. I'm going to look into them for our at-home reception.

ID ~ glad to know I'm not the only one who has printer problems. oh, and i did find a cooperative printer!

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a nice day!

Morning!

Kevin is off of school today due to testing. Seniors are off today and tomorrow, Juniors are taking the PSAE both days, Sophomores take the PLAN test today and Freshman take it tomorrow.

Our seniors and Freshman are off today and start at 10:30 for a short day tomorrow.. Jrs and Sophmores are 1/2 day today for testing and then tomorrow is testing and start for a short day at 10:30 am..

So Eric is practing taking tests and Geoff is doing his community service requirement for graduation.. I got him a job at meals on wheels today.. he had been doing the Palatine Food Pantry but they didn't need his help this qtr.. and all of the other volunteering and working he does for Eagle projects don't count..:sad2:

I am cleaning today and trying to find a cheaper hotel near US/IOA.. the hard rock was my first choice but it was $300 per night..

Hi all!!

Finally getting over being sick...again. The kids and I were all sick at the same time and during Spring break no less.
We went and saw 'Race to Witch Mountain' and liked it a lot!

DD's whole school went to see the Earth movie today. Darth Vadar is the voice over......I mean to say James Earl Jones. Saw the preview in the theatre last week and it did look good! Can't wait to hear about it in a little while when DD gets home.

Some news I've been waiting to share with you all......
We are moving out by the in-laws in early June. Mother in-law is not well at all. The doctor's think that these infections she keeps getting will kill her before the cancer even does. Not a nice thing to hear from the Dr. :sad2:
And they definitly need the help out there.
On a lighter note, DS gets to spend his b-day in Disneyland this year.
We're hoping to actually come back to the Chicago area before DD enters high school.
I'll miss all of you and seeing you all at meets!! :grouphug: But I'm sure I'll still come and hang out here! :goodvibes Once a Chicagoan, always a Chicagoan!! :yay:

slo I hope you were able to make some contacts at the meeting you went to.

irish dancer DD uses the shower like her personal spa too. Luckily we have 2 water heaters in our house. :)

piglet Hope you're doing well.

Tiggerrrn Glad your trip was good !!! It's a scortcher in Cal right now, too bad you missed it. It's even hotter there than in Vegas.
DD gets some crazy hard projects too as she's in the advanced classes. I help but have been trying to have her do more on her own and then check it over with me. She has one teacher that is a total NUT!!! She likes projects that cost a ton of money to do!!!

disneygal You've complained about that printer before I think. I got an idea!! Make a small cardboard complaint box and put it right by the printer! See if anyone higher up gets the hint!! .....make sure you fill that box up first!
Your dress color sounds awesome!!! What length are they?

mac I'm so sorry to hear about all you've gone through lately. I sure do hope you're feeling a wee bit better now.

Hi to all and hugs for those who need 'em.

We are moving out by the in-laws in early June. Mother in-law is not well at all.

Oh wow! Big news! Hoping you enjoy your new digs! We'll definitely miss you at the meets. Maybe you can fly out for them. ;)

Hopefully, you'll still be around the Chicago thread.

That sunshine is really great isn't it?! :sunny:

piglet - Wow, there's alot of testing happening by you - I used to hate those test when I was younger.
**How are you feeling? When do you see the specialist again? Continued prayers and hugs to you!!

DG - Did the wedding consultant ever get in touch with you yesterday?

geffric - You have a lot of testing by you too. I wonder if seniors here have to do community service in order to graduate:confused:I know my employee, who's graduating from an Illinios private school doesn't have to it. How many hours does he have to do?

Bunchkin - I"m glad you are starting to feel better :) Those spring colds are always the worst!!!!
**What did Lauren say about Earth? I would really like to go, but I don't think I will.
**When you come home to see your mom, you'll have to let us know, so we can hopefully do a quickie meet - that would be fun!!! :cool1: Even though you are away, you'll still feel just around the corner, because you'll be posting on here still
**Continued prayers for your MIL - please keep us posted on how she is doing.

Crissup - :wave2:

Well, I must go drag Stephanie out of bed
Have a good, sunny day today!!

Morning all! What a beautiful sunny morning!:goodvibes
Slo, how did the meeting go for you? I loved EARTH! I am so glad I saw it on the big screen with the surround sound. It was a nature film. But it was amazing the shots they got. I just couldn't figure out how they must have been standing with cameras to get the shots-especially of the Polar Bears. I am sure many with the elephants and the whales were aerials and underwater, but they had to be on the snow to get the shots they got of the cubs. It will be viewable at home, but the effect will not be the same as if you go to see it in the theater. A couple of times I thought the kids were going to get a real education on the circle of life, but they never show the final outcome of the attacks for prey. But the kids get the idea.
Bunchkin, I am sad that you will be moving away.:sad1:But I totally understand. Do your in-laws live in CA? I didn't realize that Tony had been so far away all this time. That must be really hard. Did the house sell? That is great that Lauren gets to spend her birthday at DL. Did you register her day yet? Kellie had a blast. Both kids loved the Discover the Magic tour I did for Kellie's birthday. Please be sure to stay connected here with all of us.
DG, I love that tangerine color. What a great choice for sunny Florida! I bet you will be really pleased with it.
geffric and piglet, I could faint at the thought of high school testing.:scared1:I am just trying to struggle through 5th grade. By the time they get to high school, I think they will have to be on their own. Especially seeing as my DD is already doing work in 5th grade that I didn't do until high school.:rolleyes1
Hi Crissup. How are you all doing?
Well, I had better get ready. I am helping the at kids school today in their classrooms.
