Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Thanks everyone for kind words. :goodvibes
Mac - Didn't know you had similar situation - I'm so sorry. At least we didn't have to get our son back from .........MEXICO!!! Hope your's is ok now? Your cat sounds...............ummmmmmmmmmm... older ....than mine. Unfortunately the older they get, the more attached to them we become? and vice versa - he follows me around like he's a dog. Very needy. The guy at Pet Smart actually gave me the onesie idea when I went in there looking for a dog sweater or something to keep cat from licking wound. Cat acted like it weighed 50 pounds at first, but is getting used to it. Hasn't taken it off yet.
Tiggerrn...my dreams are ALWAYS of travel. :) sigh.
Disneynut...our girl scouts here sold cookies at the Goodwill (where I went for the cat onesies!). I bought a box of the thin mints and ATE THE WHOLE BOX BY MYSELF in one day. My personal best. :thumbsup2 They are so good.
Slo - hope Katie is ok with the boot? :cutie: Is it like the boot they use for a broken foot with velcro? Said a prayer for her.
Disney Gal...my son has an old Kia Rio (Cinco - 5 dr) and we love it! Hope yours is as good as his has been.
Need to get moving.....good to hear from you all - SUN IS SHINING NW OF YOU - HOPE IT IS THERE TOO :cool1: !

Hey gang!

Sunday was great - I will post pictures soon:)
Sean Casey was very nice and signed alot of stuff for Stephanie:thumbsup2
Steph got to see and sit in his TIV too - she was in heaven:cloud9:

Rmom - I am so sorry to hear about your son:sad1::hug: I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers:grouphug:
Katies boot is just like you described ::yes:: Thanks for the prayers :)

Mac- Kate got her boot today and she is adjusting well:thumbsup2 thanks for the continued prayers:)

Geffric - good luck with the gluten free diet:wizard: I'm glad its not to difficult for you:thumbsup2

Tigggerrnnnnnnnnnnnnn- the lazy day sounds great:thumbsup2 I need one soon:)

I'm off to watch Hawaii 5O-have a great night

Oh.....forgive any typos-I'm on my ipadnand it's not as easy as a computer

another day, another dollar at work.

i shouldn't whine.
it all goes into my vacation fund. :goodvibes

slo, how's Kate's boot coming along now?
has she kicked many butts with it on?

think of the positives of her having it.
think of all the chores she will be able to get out of doing......
(i'm thinking like a kid here)

John, thanks for the link. i'll be reading it later after work.
i'm sure it will be great reading. i love trippie reports!

rmom, Petsmart is my best friend and gets a lot of my money.
how is it really pronounced....
Pet Smart or Pets Mart

gluten free.
i didn't know that geffrey.
if you tell me it helps you lose weight, i'll try it too.....
i'm still on that diet that Slo started us on two years ago january.
obviously, it hasn't worked for me yet. :rolleyes1

gotta rush off now.
time to get ready for work.

see youse all later!

i'm still on that diet that Slo started us on two years ago january.

Been on Weight Watchers for the past year. Lost 50LBs by September, then hit a brick wall. Then couldn't make it to the meetings in January or February due to a hacking class i was in on Tuesdays.

Finally got into my pulmonologist and got back into the sleep lab. Found my CPAP pressures were out of whack due to the weight loss. So I'm now on an Autopap and back in the WW meetings. Down 2.2LBs in this mornings weigh in.

Hi everyone! I love reading everyone's updates.

Not a whole lot going on with me. I am working part-time retail and working on my business part-time, getting more involved with networking groups, etc... joined a new Chamber of Commerce that has started so that is fun.

The scariest/exciting thing that is happening is my oldest will turn 18 on Saturday! It's a strange bunch of emotion mixed into that. She's still in high school so won't be going anywhere soon but hard to believe she is considered an adult. So very weird.

Morning all. Checking in for the day. Load in washer, load in dryer:laundy:, dishwasher emptied and reloaded, pancakes made for kids' breakfast to kick off their ISAT testing week, showered and now off to school for book fair.:faint:
Crissup, great job so far! Good luck with continued success. We will be here to cheer you on, and you can help to motivate some of us (who will not confess ourselves):rolleyes1that could use the motivation to move it, move it!
Morning Becky!
Have a great day all.:flower3:

Katie made it on the bus okay with her boot this morning.
I'm just hoping the rest of the day goes okay:rolleyes:

DDork - Thanks for the link -I will check it out :thumbsup2

Mac - Stephanie would think like that (I would too at that age), but Katie is different. She doesn't like attention being drawn to her:sad2:. She's happy just being her normal self, with her normal life (kinda boring )

Crissup - Congrats on the weight loss!!!:cheer2: My DH is currently on a weight loss challenge while doing the Atkins Diet, and it's going really well for him - he's lost about 25lbs so far. Keep up the good work :thumbsup2

Becky - Wow, 18, that would be weird ::yes:: I can't even imagine how I will feel when Stephanie turns 18. Happy early bday to her!!!:dance3:

TTTTTTTigern - Testing week for us too :cheer2: I love testing week, because it's a week off for me helping with homework!!! (Stephanie needs my daily help with her math).

Well, I guess I better go open the store for the literally no business that I have due to the gas prices. :headache::mad::headache::mad:

Have a great day everyone!!!

:wave2: everyone!! Wow, what a day out there. Love the warmth, could do without the wind but since it's bringing the warmth I'll deal with it. ;)

slo - glad to hear Katie is doing well with the boot.
~ Glad your field trip on Sunday went well, must have been a great day for Stephanie.
~really hoping these gas prices come down, it's crazy. It wasn't all that long ago that prices were under $2 now they're over $4.

mac - we have never been to the darkside so if you have any first timer pointers or not to miss things let me know. DDs time is going to be limited due to cheer though.

Crissup - congrats on the weigh loss!! Hope the adjustment in meds helps get things back on track.

Becky - yikes 18?! I'll be there in just a few short years and can't wrap my brain around how fast it goes as they get older. Happy Birthday to your DD!!

Tiggerrn - you make me feel like a slacker :rotfl: It is testing week for DS11 too but he didn't get pancakes today. ;)

Well, got to run. Today is my split shift day at work (9a-1p and 5-9p) so I've got to change the laundry and figure out what the family is going to have for dinner. The only good thing about working this split is I'm off Wed-Fri. :thumbsup2 Hope everyone has a great day!! :hippie:

Crissup, congrats!
that is wonderful on the weight loss.

if i went on WW would i look as good as jennifer hudson?
i have thought about WW but never put much effort into checking it out.

i just count calories and try to stay at 1600 a day.
but then there are days that i count up to 2500...........:rolleyes1

home from work about an hour ago.
my brain is mush now.
i have completely forgotten what everyone has posted since i did this morning.

i'll be back when i ketchup on the posts.

slo, congrats to Mr. Slo too!!

i have thought about WW

It's really easy. In fact, many days I don't eat as much as I should. What they don't want you to do, is starve yourself. However, if you're not hungry, then it's ok to stop short. But, they also don't want you to stop short and end up famished later as a result of it.

Hi all-
It is so good to see the back up and alive again. I missed checking with you all daily.

We are headed back to Disney from August 4-18. We are driving down and then ds and dh are driving back to get ds to school much earlier than normal. My mom and I will be flying back on the 18th.

On August 12, we will be celebrating our 25th wedding vow renewal at The Swan. We are then going to Portobello's at Downtown Disney for lunch. If anyone of you around on the 12th, please come by the Swan for our renewal and cake reception.

I read about your older kitties. My dh pulled a good one in January. I was away in the Dells and he called asking if we could foster a starving 2 year old Greaty Pyrenese. I reluctantly agreed. Come to find out when he picked Zoe up that she is actually a starving 7 year old Great Pyrenese with cancer. Now, tell me who is going to want to adopt this dog? She is a sweet dog and had a good home life - spoiled - for the first 6 years of her life. She then ended up being adopted out since a new baby came along with allergies. The last year she was kept confined to a garage with little food. If you live in the Romeoville area, keep an eye on the news stories. She is a court case!

DS is still playing baseball. He will actually be playing in a tournament while we are in Florida. He played in it last summer, too. Boy, was it hot.

Take care and post soon.
Lori

Evening all!!

What a beautiful day!! Too bad I was at work all day...

I can't believe how out of shape I am. DD, our dog and I went for a walk for about 30 minutes...My knee hurt back aches...If I am going to be able to walk around Disney...I really need to get in shape.

Nice to read everyone's updates...It's interesting to read what's going on in everyone's lives.

Got to go fix dinner...have a good night:hippie:

I was in LA last weekend visiting a friend. I had no plans to visit Disneyland, but thru a twist a faith, I did. Here is my recent blog about my Four Hour Visit to Disneyland...ENJOY!!

Not a diet for weight loss, that would be nice..but to help with my other issues.. but you do give up all gluten..it may be TMI but I have been blogging about my experience ( sort of).. I am not very good at this yet.
My Gluten Free Journey

Congrats on the weight loss.. hope the new Autopap works ..what is your goal for wt loss??

Becky - 18?? wow time flies.. 18 is a big milestone.. congrats to her// where is she headed to school??

Well back from Vernon Hills.. eric sold some paintball gear to a guy there and I delivered..:thumbsup2

what is your goal for wt loss??

I ultimately need to lose over 200 LBs, which is a huge amount of weight. I don't want it to seem to difficult to do, so I'm setting incremental goals instead of looking at the big picture. Everytime I hit my current goal, I set a new one 20LBs lower.

We haven't even discussed what my official WW goal should be.

Crissup - great job on the weight loss! :worship:

Slo - sorry your business is slow right now. Maybe the weather will help this week? :)

Becky - what kind of business did you start?

My husband is self employed too, so I feel for ya'll...

Becky - 18?? wow time flies.. 18 is a big milestone.. congrats to her// where is she headed to school??

We aren't 100% sure yet. Her grades aren't that great last year & this year(let's just say I will be thrilled if she actually graduates!). That sounds worse than it is, she struggles with writing and 90% of English classes are writing projects, etc... Basically she has enough credits to graduate but she must pass English & Government or she won't. The other classes I don't care about because they are extras that were taken to just fill up her schedule. She wanted to go to Eastern Illinois University but did not get in. She did recently apply to Dean college now wich is in Massachuettes (sp?). I hate the thoughts of her going so far away but I really think the school would be a good fit for her. We are waiting to hear back from that one. She refuses to do community college.

Her thinking is she will go to Dean for 2 years and then try to transfer to EIU unless she finds she loves Dean enough to 4 years there. She is going for a Theatre degree and it is more of a performing arts college than anything else.

Becky - what kind of business did you start?

I'm an independant distributor for Send Out Cards which I love. You create greeting cards on-line & then a real greeting card is sent in the mail. It does so much more than that too but it's mostly visual & if I told you everything it would seem like an hour long infomercial. :rotfl2: If anyone wants to check it out you can go to my website which is clickagreeting.com (just put the www in front of it ;) ).

I have been doing it for a year but not really getting myself out there but this year some changes happened and I've been putting myself out going to networking groups and just trying to meet more people. There is a brand new Fox Valley Chamber of Commerce so anyone who has a business in the area might want to check it out. http://foxvalleychamber.com/ It is more geared business to business but it's perfect for me as my business works for both businesses to use as Appreciation Marketing or personal use. As I'm just starting out, I couldn't afford to join all the local chambers but I could join this one which has people from all over the area & it had a start-up offer that I couldn't refuse. They don't want to compete with the local chambers, they want to partnership with them.

I also have my fundraising pageant that I'm working on too so it always seems like I'm shifting my 50 hats to know what I'm doing. :lmao: My other "hat" is the Den Leader to 16 boys! YIKES...although I'm always looking for ideas/field trips. They are Wolves right now. We had our Blue & Gold not too long ago so basically we haven't had much of a meeting since then. We do have one coming up to a painting ceramic place since normally we meet at the park district & couldn't get the room for a couple of weeks.

I can't believe how out of shape I am. DD, our dog and I went for a walk for about 30 minutes...My knee hurt back aches...If I am going to be able to walk around Disney...I really need to get in shape.

This was me yesterday! I had to pick DD up after tech & as I was getting out of the car -- my legs were so sore & I couldn't figure out why. I was telling DD -- it felt like I had worked out, etc... Then I remembered I walked the youngest home from school yesterday! Obviously...sitting around all winter has not put me in the best shape. :rotfl:

I hope everyone is doing well this morning!

I have to go to the Scout shop to pick up awards for next week's pack night.

There is a florist I met at one networking event that is having an open house somewhere in Downers Gove & I'm excited to go check it out if I can find it. ;) They are silk flowers that have fresh flower smell. I knew I was ahead of my time when I insisted I wanted blue roses for part of my wedding & they told me that couldn't be done. Eventually I got them though -- they were silk but I got them. It was unusual request back then I guess. I'm really curious what these ones with the smell appear like.

Then an IEP meeting today for my youngest - YUCK...I really do not like IEP meetings but you do what you have to do.

Good Morning Everyone!!

Bit chilly out today. After two days of 60 degree weather it's hard to go back to cold...burr

Becky- I have been so lazy this winter...I tried to go to bootcamp in January, but then I got sick (found out I have diverticulosis and ended up in the hospital for 4 days) haven't been back since. I hope with the nice weather I will get out more and walk.

My son also has an IEP. At first the meetings were tough. Now that he is in High School he is doing a bit better and I do not dread going to them as much. at least it is only once a year.

I have had a crazy week for work. Yesterday 8-8 today I work 9-2 then to my DD Brownie meeting then back to work 5-8. Tomorrow I work 9-5 then DD and I are selling cookies again from 6:30-8...fun times. I hope we sell more cookies this time.

Well, I better get to work. Hope everyone has a great day!!
