Happy New Year Chicagoland Homies.......

We have started another new fun filled year.......
We all will be rich, happy, healthy and thin all year long.........

Happy New Year ALL Chicago area DISers!!!

Last night Kevin and I watched the movie Stepbrothers - it was so bad!!!!!!! Do yourself a favor everyone, and don't rent it - such a waste of money, and such a waste of 2 hours of my life. On a scale of 1-10, I give it a -5, so bad!!!!:sad2:
I SOOOOOOOOOOO AGREEE!!! :sad2:

We celebrated Matt's NYE's 21st BD :scared1: with dinner out on the 30th. Gave him his presents (a digital camera) on his BD, NYE! And, my brother stopped by with $ gifts, and Julie, our neighbor, came over with gifts and stayed to watch Horton Hears a Who with us. It was a fun couple of days, even if I'm still in my jammies since dinner on the 30th! LOVE being OFF!!! Matt worked tonight, and he IS 21, but he's not home yet. :confused3 And, it's still MY home, I believe, with rules. :rolleyes1 He's a good young man tho. What to do when you still worry?? :confused3

Hope you're ALL well!!! :grouphug:

yep what she said..

We have had a quiet time here too.. I watched movies and hung around the house and did nothing.. Geoff hung around the 'puter and played facebook and stuff..

Eric had a recording session yesterday, so Scott ended up staying with the band the entire time.. apparently another dad was supposed to be there.. but.never made it.. they got back about 1 am..so all of the band is sleeping in the basement.. I am working from home..

So happy new year... and yes ibounce..I am going to WDW too.. only in October for Food and Wine and to see my cousins and hang alone and with MAC

Yesterday was such a great day!!!
I played Wii Fit for over an hour, and then the whole family did Wii Bowling, and then Kevin and I played Wii Golf for quite awhile :) Finally at 3pm, I decided I needed to sit down and veg out, so I got some food, and put in Prince Caspian - great movie!!!!! Then after that, we watched PoTC 3, while eating some more :teeth: It was a great lazy day!!!!!

Today I am taking down Christmas decorations :guilty: I hate doing this, because I hate having Christmas be over. I love how the house looks when it's all decorated, and I love how everyone is so excited for the holidays when they are up. Once the decorations are down, everything looks so boring:guilty:

Bunchkin - I hope the lamp helps the baby:wizard: Does lamp also help people mentally feel better in the winter?

Kim - Happy 21st Birthday to Matt!!!! :cake: Our kids grow up way to fast don't they?! Good for you for wanting to stick with rules. I had a curfew up until the day I got married, and that time was midnight, and I got married at 23. Kevin's house was the same way ::yes:: Now, if I knew that I would be later than midnight, and I told my mom about it, then it was okay, but if we didn't discuss it, I had to be home by midnight. Many people thought I was nuts for allowing my parents to control me like this, but I believed it was the least I could do for the people that paid my college, paid my car insurance, did my laundry, paid for my upkeep, were paying for my wedding, and the list goes on and on. My parents and I had our battles and our disagreements, but we never had one about curfew - I just respected it.

geffric - I"m glad that the band was able to do their recording session:) Speaking of recordings, I forgot to tell you that I have that CD you wanted from The World. If you still want it, let me know, and I can send it to you :)

To everyone else -

Well, I'm off to eat some breakfast, and start tearing down the Christmas decorations.
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Happy New Year everyone! Been in a bit of a mood, plus not up to fighting for computer time, thus where I have been.

Today we are taking Lauren to the American Girl store to spend her Christmas money.

Morning all and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
I worked 12 hours yesterday and our first baby of the New Year wasn't born until I was walking out the door after 7:15PM.:thumbsup2 We had a very quiet day yesterday.
Slo, Marley and Me was not as wonderful as I had hoped. The book is definately better. I guess there really is no way to make an "actor" dog act the way Marley did in real life. And, of course, it required a box of tissues at the end. It was cute, mushy, and did make me laugh in spots, but I had hoped for so much more after reading the book. So maybe seeing the movie before reading the book isn't such a bad idea after all.
I contemplated taking down decorations today as well. Just hate the idea of looking at a drab house again. We are still waiting for our blinds to arrive, too. So the windows will be open and bare once again.
Bunchkin, natural light will help the jaundice as well as pushing fluids-feed every 2 hours if breastfeeding and every 3 if formula. But if the baby really looks suntanned, she needs to take her back to the Dr. for a blood test. If the levels get too high, the baby can get really sick. And if the whites of the eyes are looking yellow, she needs to call the Dr. immediately.
And yes, sunlight lamps help SAD, too Slo. I have often thought I would benefit from that in the winter. I used to tan at times, but that really isn't good for the skin, so:rolleyes1 I mope through til spring.
Hope everyone is having a great start to their new year and has a wonderful and prosperous year!

Well, Lauren has joined the American Girl craze fully and is now the proud owner of an "Elizabeth" doll. She used her Christmas money, and a gift card she had, to buy it herself. She is now saving for a "Felicity" doll to go along with it. We spent a few hours at the store, first looking at everything, then her trying to pick. She also liked "Kaya" and a "Just Like Me" doll that I tried to steer her away from. I explained that I really wanted her to get a historical doll and read the books that go along. Her doll may only have one book, but she is excited to read all the "Felicity" ones as well.

Good evening! I am offically tired of being cold. I need summer now please.

Tigggg I could use a sun lamp ;)

Tomorrow morning the remaining christmas decorations are coming down. :yay:

piglet Thankfully I have a boy so no american girl stuff :woohoo: A couple of my friends daughters are into them though. They are pretty expensive good thing your daughter had her own money.

Hersey ~ I told her at her birthday in May, if she wanted a new doll she would have to use her own money for it. A couple of years ago, she used her money to buy a Bitty Baby from there. I swear that she has not taken better care of any other "favorite" toy as she did that doll. Hopefully, the same will be true for this one.

Piglet It is amazing when it comes to their own money they become very concerned consumers :confused3 Alex will ponder for the longest time when he needs to break with his money, my money however is the wind. :lmao:

Evening guys! Dd11 started basketball today and after she was done at 11a we headed downtown to the Museum of Science & Industry. OMG, it was beyond insanely crowded. We got there around 12n, the underground garage was full, we got into a small side lot but they closed it a few cars after us! Benefit was we didn't have to pay for parking. :thumbsup2 Inside was so crowded, I've never been there when it's that busy. We did see a fair amount and since we ate before we went we didn't have to fight the food court. We left at closing at 4p and headed to Pizzeria Due, yummm! After that we walked over to the Disney store. There were lots of people out and about, a lot with bulging shopping bags. Looked like many were helping out the economy. ;)

As we were driving home I was thinking it wouldn't be long before everyone had their decorations down. I was so depressed just thinking about it. :sad2: I'm waiting a few more days before starting ours, just not ready yet!

Bunchkin - my french toast loaf took longer to cook too, we have a remote thermometer that DH got for the grill but I use it in the oven and works great. It was worth the wait though wasn't it?! I'll pm you the potato recipe.
*Hope the baby is getting better and that the lamp helps. I need one of those!

slo - isn't Wii Fit great!! We all fight over it! The kids are having as much fun with it as DH and I. It can give you a great work out. I'm looking forward to getting a lot more time in on it once the kid go back to school.

KimRaye - do you think the PG rating was appropriate for Marley & Me? My DD11 wants to go but the family review website I went to disagreed saying it should be PG13. I'm not worried about the emotional part of it, it's the 'adult' part I'm worried about.
*Congrats to Matt - Happy Birthday!! I too lived at home until I got married and my parents were a lot like slo's. My cerfew was what I set, if I was in after that I was "late".

Hersey - I'm with you, enough winter! I'm ready for spring now, lol.
*I will use the "pay with your own money" sometimes as a test, if they really want it they will if not they'll pass. My mom did that a lot with me growing up.

I have totally lost track of what day of the week it is around here, it is so strange having everyone home. It will be nice to get back to some schedule when we are back to school and work. Unfortunately I'm not looking forward to 6:30a alarms, lunches and homework........

We've gotten so lax with betimes but we're committed to getting everyone back on schedule so I have to go and get kids ready for bed. Have a great night everyone! :flower3:

ID ~ I was thinking about going there tomorrow, but your post makes me wonder if we should. :confused3 We always try to get there when they open, but not sure if that will be much help or not.

We have to go back to the American Girl store tomorrow. Lauren noticed that a section of hair is not connected, so back we must go. I am hoping that since it will be the next day, that the doll will be just replaced, and we will not have to pay for her to get fixed.

Just noticed that starting Monday and running through the rest of the month, are all free days at MSI. More pondering in store on if we go tomorrow or not.

I wanted to get there when they opened but DD11 had BBall until 11a. Maybe we'll go back on one of those free days this month to see what we missed.

You should have no problem with AG. My DDs Felicity "mysteriously" had eyelashes on only one eye long after we got her. I brought her to the store expecting to have to send her to the 'hospital' but they exchanged her without any problems.

I had a good and productive day off yesterday:)
I finally went and renewed my drivers license - I'm glad to have that done!!!
Went to Aldis, which was crazy crowded, the most crowded I've ever seen it.
Got the Christmas decorations downs (I'm putting them in the boxes today), did some laundry, and made and Italian meal - like I said, it was a very positive, productive day!!!! :teeth:

geffric - I'll take a look at the CD and send you that PM:thumbsup2

piglet - Congrats to your DD on her first AG Doll :cutie: What did you think of the new store? Kevin and I thought it was really nice, and we liked it better than the old store. We thought there was a lot more room, which made it feel less crowded and hectic:)
**Good luck with taking the doll back - I hope they are cooperative:wizard:

TTTTTTiiiiiiiiigern - I'm glad you had an easy day at work :) Thanks for letting me know about Marley and Me - I think I will see the movie first and then read the book, then I won't have disappointment:thumbsup2

HERSEY - I couldn't agree more about kids with their own money. When Stephanie takes her own money to WDW she is so frugel with it, which is good, but sometimes we stand around forever for her to make a decision:rotfl2: When it comes to my money, she thinks I can afford the whole store:rolleyes:

ID - I"m sorry the museum was so crowded:guilty: Wasn't it disappointing with how much was closed for refurbishment? The whole upstairs was 1/2 empty:guilty: This really bummed me out.

Well, I need to get the girls up and ready to go - their grandma (my MIL) is coming to get them to take them for the day:woohoo: I hate to seem so happy, but it'll be nice to finish putting away all these decorations w/o them being underfoot:)

Have a good day today!!!
