Bunchkin, good luck with that job hunting! We had a nice day at Woodfield today. Kids had a great time playing in their fun room during the presentation. Be sure you go in the room to "talk" to the DVC reps after the presentation. That is how to get the big book you were talking about. They give you a little gift bag with that book and a little DTD travel cosmetics bag. I was listening to their presentation thinking about it and then thinking again. I laughed at their figures though. They talk about how it pays for itself in 4 years since most will spend $4500 each time they go to Disney. But then I started thinking, I may spend that with airfare, food, tickets, and hotel plus souvies, but I certainly don't spend that on lodging alone, which is all those points cover.
I did go up to the DTD store and look through the AKL villas sample rooms. They do look inviting. I still love that resort best so far. We'll have to see how I feel after returning from the Beach Club.
Slo, sorry you didn't enjoy your COC day out. Hope your back is feeling better and better.

Thanks!! We were at the 11 am show. Yes, too bad we did not know and meet up! We went to the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate with lunch afterwards.

The winner at the 1 pm showing was also a DIS'er. Small world..

Good Morning all

It's Sunday morning and I have to take my little kiddies to Michigan City today to meet up with their dad. They will be gone for 2 weeks. The longest my DD has every been away from me.

I am feeling a bit better. Friday was tough for me. I took a few pain killers and it helped a bit.

The insurance company called and they deemed my car a total loss. So I need to look for a new car. I only had about a year left on my Van now I have to start all over again.

They are suppose to take the van Monday or Tuesday. Every time I go over and sit in it I get sad. I have a lot of memories in that van. The drives to WDW and the fun we had on the way.

I went to the DVC event yesterday at 4. I didn't win anything but congrats to Carolann I would love to have won. I really want to go to WDW this year.

The offers were really good, even for members. If I didn't have to buy a car this week I might just have added some points.

Well I have to go and finish packing the kids things. Have a great Sunday!

The girls birthday party is finally here - they are so excited!!! (Their actual bdays are not today. Steph's was in July, and Kate's is later in August) If I like doing this ONE party, we may do it this way in the future too There's still alot to do before the guests get here - water all the flowers, mop the kitchen floor, tidy up the girls bathroom, pick up the cake, pick up the balloons, and pick up the food - the party starts at 1pm.


We had quite a mess on our back deck yesterday. Our glass top table shattered, and there was glass everywhere I heard it when it happened, yesterday afternoon, but I had no idea what the sound was - it was so weird. I looked all over the house to see what had fallen, and broken, but I found nothing. It never dawned on me to look outside. That was not fun to pick up, at all!!!!!


paint - Have a wonderful trip tomorrow/honeymoon tomorrow!!!! I'm sure you'll have a truly wonderful, memorable, and fun time Take lots of pictures, becasue we would love to see them.

Bunchkin - I tried to watch that movie, but I slept through it (which I do with alot of tv shows/movies if they are started past 9:30pm - I"m like an old lady ) I'm glad you liked the movie - I'll have to try it again sometime.

My grandparents are celebrating their 90th bdays/65th wedding annivesary today. Then, tomorrow, my mom is driving us to the airport. I am a little nervous about leaving the kids for so long, but I am sure they willhave fun. GMa loves to spoil them!

It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day. Too bad I planned indoor things. We are going to Ikea for desks. I think they have the biggest selection and price. Alex organized his room yesterday so all we have to do is get the desk and put it together.

My Weight Watchers is going well. I've lost about 5 lbs so far. I need to lose at least another 6. Then I'll see how I feel about it, what clothes I can fit into. (I have all these clothes in my closet I can't wear, and it's making me angry. ) I have a lot of flex points left for the day, so we're going to Culver's tonight. I'm just going to have the value pack with a small cheeseburger and fries, but it's still 15.5 points. For those who haven't done WW, that's almost a whole day's worth!

Oh, I don't think I ever posted this. I'm getting my shades/blinds installed on Aug. 18. I'm excited to not only get them, but also that I'll be taking a day off work.

We wnt to the Doorway to Dreams event today and Carol's name was chosen as the winner of the free trip! So, five day trip for four people in a DVC 1 bedroom, complete with park passes, airfare, a check to cover the IRS taxes and gift cards for food and souvenirs. Carol was in such shock, that I finally thought she was telling me to go up alone (they simply called out "The Crissup Family", so we didn't know yet who's card it was). As I got up to the front, Carol came sprinting along behind me.

She's still on her high.

Went to Great America yest. Getting there and coming home was a zoo, as their was lots of construction going on on I94. But we had a good time anyways. Had to use the 2 free admission tickets the kids got for the Reading to Success program from school before they expired.

**No, we didn't buy a new table, and with all the events over this summer, I don't think we will until next year. We still have the table on the pool deck, that we can still use if we have people over. I still can't get over how it broke - it's just so weird!!!!!

Leigh - Congrats on the weight loss!!!! I don't even want to think about how many points I've consumed over this weekend I just ate, ate, and ate some more!!!!

Good Morning Everyone! today was a lovely walk to work! as we were pulling in to the city it was so dark it looked like it was 3 in the morning. it started storming right as i was getting off the train! i don't mind though b/c i like the rain and i had an umbrella.

Disneygal -- Definitely dark this morning!!! I was a little bummed as the 2 older ones had private swim lessons scheduled but, of course, those were cancelled.

CarolAnnC -- Congratulations!!!


I think my kids are desperate for $$$ -- I offered them at the beginning of the summer that I would pay them for folding clothes (the never ending job in this house, that I never seem to get to either!) They hadn't taken me up on it to much & the mountain of clothes was huge. All of a sudden yesterday, DD started folding a TON of clothes. DS-11 joined her & woke up this morning -- the very first thing he started doing even before eating breakfast was folding clothes.

Since their swimming lessons were cancelled, they are now both folidng clothes. They are now complaining that there isn't that many pieces of clothes left to fold. (there is still a ways to go but it's definitely looks less than a mountain now).

I'm trying to decide if I should go out later this afternoon for school supplies.

It's a nice relaxing week for us as DS-11's summer school is over. DD has no cheerleading/gymnastics practice.

I got to sleep in a little today, so did the kiddies. But it was so dark I thought it was still much earlier!


Someone asked me a question the other day that I forgot to answer, I think it was Irish dancer who asked, when is the last day of the performances at American Girl Place.
The last performance is Sept. 1!!! Not far off!
We'll be calling today to see what tickets/dates are available.

I don't blame you for waiting on buying a new table, but you might want to look at all the end of season clearance sales to see if you can pick one up on the cheap!
Here's our rundown of the presentation, some people already mentioned some of these details.
We had a lot of fun yesterday at Doorway to Dreams! We didn't win anything, but we were sitting behind the lady who won the trip and it was just herself, she has no family!! Later on, after congratulating her, we asked her if she needed some family!!
We got the goody bag with 2 Doorway to Dreams toiletry bags per person. So we have 8 total!! The kids also got a couple DVC coloring books and crayons. And they went to the play area they had set up at the Improv and got to meet Mickey, Minnie and Goofy. They had lots of appetizer foods, water, pop, coffee, and served cupcakes later. Then there was more snacks in the area where you would speak to a rep. afterwards.
Then we went up to the Doorway store and showed Tony the rooms on display. They had more cupcakes up there too!
Castmember Jean was working there! Hi Jean, thanks for all the pins!!
The incentives they were giving were INCREDIBLE!!! WOW!!!


piglet There is no real good way, or short cut, to get up to Great America!! Try to drive at off hours to avoid the traffic.

HI Piglet-
If I remember correctly, the construction started as soon as I294 and I94 merged, in the Northbrook, Deerfield area. The back-ups were before then- in Glenview on I294. Construction is all the way north past Great America on I94! There is supposedly one or two lanes as express lanes where the construction is, but when we were going up there, they were for the southbound lanes, not going north. For us coming home(going south), we couldn't get on the express lanes until much later. Not sure if I'm making sense, hope I am.
