Thanks. I am in the Champaign-Urbana area.

Made it home safe, but there were a lot of areas where it was white-out conditions. Stay safe everyone!

I just wanted to stop and say hi. I know I haven't been on in a long long time.

Good to see you again Jedi!! I was wondering where you've been. Sounds like you're enjoying yourself. Good to see you around again. :)

Awwww thank you so much my friends for the lovely birthday wishes! Yes it is quite windy and snowy out here tonite, but nice and warm inside. John gave me a lovely gold chain that I wanted for my pendants and I also received some lovely gifts from DD including a surprise trip next weekend to My Fair Lady at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. I could not have asked for a nicer birthday! :)

Hey all. Made it home. Not as bad as feared. Took local roads and no expressways. Just an FYI -when I walked Tiggs this afternoon the bank said it was 52 degrees. When I turned the corner to come home tonight, same bank said it was 4. Knew that would make your day!!!!
Sweet sleep everyone!!!
Welcome to our new friends.

Hello All,

Just a quick stop to say that I hope everyone stays warm today. Well off to take the dog out and get ready for work. Man I wish I could just stay in my nice warm bed.

Hope everyone has a great day.

HI all!!!

Found our new home. :thumbsup2

Hope everyone is doing well in this crazy weather we're having.

I have the stomach flu!!! Not fun!!
Started feeling it's affects yesterday morning and by the afternoon it was full blown.
And I got so much sleep last night that I am up early today and thought I'd post.

We have a huge snow drift in our driveway which DH did nothing with before he left for work. :headache: Not sure if I even have the strengh to go deal with it.

I noticed that the other day some of you mentioned the prank bomb threat at one of the New Lenox schools. That is where my DD goes to school.
The poor kids were stuck on the bus for over an hour in the parking lot before they decided to move them to the school behind them.
They all crowded into the gym and watched a movie, which they got half way through before they decided to take them back after the all clear. So they were not back at their school for a while.
According to info we got, it was 2 boys who made the prank call to the school's answering machine over the weekend. DD mentioned the teacher they have but I cannot recall the name right now.
One boy in her class made some sort of comment, after they were back at school, about a bomb and he got in trouble and was sent to the office. Not sure if they suspended him. DD's teacher mentioned they might, just for the fact that you are not supposed to be talking of such things.
Lots of kids were picked up by there parents and taken home that morning. Some where brought back to school.
It was a really crazy day and DD was so glad to be done with it. She litterally ran into the house when she got off the bus.

Ok......so HI to all the newbies out there!!! :wave2:
Welcome to the Chicago Thread!

Sorry to hear you cut your finger. I do that kind of stuff all the time.
Did Kevin make it home ok? Tony was home by 4pm, so he missed the snow.

Sam Again, sorry to hear about Dan's mom.
That was really thoughtful of all of you to get a gift for her caretaker.

jedi Great to hear from you!!!! We miss you and hope you're doing well!

DMM I'm so sorry to hear about Roman's hearing. I hope there is something that can be done to help him.

Well, I have to run for now. I just woke up DD a while ago and I need to get a movin'!

Talk to you all soon!!:thumbsup2

Who's kids are home right now????
Stephanie is home with a 2 hour delay, and Kevin thinks the schools will end up cancelling, but I don't know about that:rolleyes: I should have bet him something before he left for work, but I was to excited to stay in bed longer that I didn't think about it:rotfl:

**Kevin did get home earlier (he must have left work a little earlier). I called him at 5:15pm to see where he was (I was just trying to get a feel on when to have dinner ready) and he said, I'm on a ambulance call. So I was glad that he was in town already :)

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I should get going and start getting ready for work. I don't know why though, I could go in my PJ's and no one would know, because I doubt anyone is coming in today with it being so cold  Oh well, you never know, I could be surprised :)

Have a good day today!!

We closed our clinic early yesterday so everyone could go home and brace themselves for the pending blizzard, which luckily never came our way. The winds sure did though. Our little grill on our porch blew away (I found it this morning), and I had to run outside and almost got blown away myself in order to save our Spaceship Earth antenna topper out of fear that it might blow away too (hey, you gotta have priorities right?).

Right now it feels like 20° below here. DW was able to stay home today, so we're letting DD stay home from daycare too.

And just think, it's 61° in WDW right now. That's about what it is in our living room. :scared1:

Hi!

I just found this new thread yesterday, and I haven't read through it yet, but I just wanted to say that I was on one of the trains that hit the car on Monday! I was on the second train, in the first passenger car. If you see the video, that was the one where there was a huge fireball at impact! There really wasn't a huge impact, but we smelled the fire, and then the conductor came through and looked out and came back and told us to all move toward the back of the train. We all jumped up in a panic, and then he said Calmly! :rotfl2: So we moved back a car or two and had to stand in the aisle. We tried to get cabs, because they didn't think the train would move, but there weren't enough, and then eventually the train did move and I got home two hours late.

First time my train actually hit something. :scared1:

Leigh -- EEK!!! I'm glad you are OK. I live under a rock, I didn't hear anything about it but that's probably because I was focused on weather.

My kids had to get up & go to school on time. No delay here (didn't think they would be. I was *hoping* for a day off though. They never close for cold so I should have known.) As a matter of fact, DD had to go in early because Wed. is her extra-curricular choir meeting time.

Here's the story with a video. I can't believe the fire when we hit!

Wow! I missed that story too. Glad to hear no one was hurt, how scary.
