Hi gang! DH cooked ribeyes on the grill last night. They were yummy and made me think of spring. Not today though. I am dreading the commute home. I hope I can leave early to beat the bad roads and the extremely long ride.

Debbie - The trip for dh looks fabulous! By the way, my bday is January 6th, too, and my dh didn't book anthing like this for me! Shame on him! We did Spring Training in Arizona about 7 years ago. We loved the weather and had a great time but have come to love Spring Training in Florida. We have found the players and coaches to be much more accessible. Last year, ds approached one of the catcher's coaches and told him he wanted to be a catcher. The coach gave ds a 20 minute catching lesson right then and there! We always do the last game for the Astros - don't know why, just do! We have done games at Disney Wide World of Sports. This year we are going to the parks at Winter Haven and Vero Beach.

Slo- How's the finger? Hope you didn't need stitches.

Anybody doing anyting for Super Bowl? We are going to my in-laws. I am thinking about taking Buffalo Chicken Dip. I think it sounds good and have been wanting to try it.

Be careful this evening!
Lori

Morning Chicago!!

The Baptism went off without a hitch thanks for asking!! I was totalyl surprised because of all the drama the unfolded before hand! hahaha! It was just insane!! But the actual day was quite uneventful and my little guy sslept right through it and then woke up a bit on the car on the way to brunch, and then fell asleep through bruch!!

Another thing I learned (even though we aren't having any more kids!!) was to never ever let a bunch of people order off a menu in a fancy restaurant!!! I totally should have done fixed plate, but of course I wasn't thinking! When that bill came I think this was me---> :faint: :faint:
And even though we thought it was obvious that you don't order liquor at a Baptism at NOON, it was still ordered too :sad2:

Oh well, Roman is now ready for his surgery on his ears coming up, I felt the baptism was really a must before that.

Hey PAINt :) I sell funky jewelry geared towards the tween market online :) It's been such a blast, that I think I am having more fun than anything. When I intorduced a new line of button jewelery for any age, it took off and led to quite a few custom orders that had me holed up in my studio and cranky! haha

My stuff has been featured in many online blogs, a magazine in Iceland (hahaha) and even can be found in 2 boutiques in Tuscon. I can't believe how rapidly it took off, but of course it has me being a complete insomniac since I can only work when everyone is asleep or Sal is home for lunch, breaks and all that!

I don't know where monday went, but i feel like I am walking in a haze!

PIGLET_Too--> I CANNOT believe that bomb threat!! OMG how scary no matter what the situation, where did the good old days of school go? It's like you have to be afraid every minute of the day lately no matter where your kids are. :sad2:

Geffric, good luck with the pancake breakfast! Sounds YUMMY!!!

Hi, everyone :goodvibes

I just wanted to stop and say hi. I know I haven't been on in a long long time. :sad2:

Things are ok on my end. Still not divorced (it's almost done  ), but very happy with my life right now :cloud9:

I just went to Morocco again this month and spent almost 2 weeks there this time. It was wonderful! :cloud9:

momto1 ~ I don't think we will do anything special for the Super Bowl, except watch it of course. I really prefer to watch the game and not have to play hostess.

DMM~ Could you PM me a link for your stuff? I would love to look at it. Also glad to hear the Baptism went well. Sorry that people took advantage of the meal selections though. I can not believe anyone would order alcohol with out paying for it themselves!

ETA ~ Hi Jedi! Glad to hear you had a nice trip, sounds like a great place to go.

JEDI!!!!!!!

So good to hear from you and look at the World Traveler you have become! I've been following your travels on MySPace, glad to hear you are doing so well!

OMG! I just read that there had been a bomb threat (it was a prank) called into Oster-Oakview over the weekend in New Lenox. The kids had to go to Haines while the police checked it out. (I guess the threat was left as a voice-mail and not discovered until yesterday morning.) These poor kids! This is the same school where the new playground was burned down earlier this year.

Wouldn't you hate to be the parents of that kid! It was a kid, according to the Southtown. I would be mortified and need to move! Like that Southwest Airlines commercial... "Wanna Get Away". Ugggh! My kid would be ground from all electronic devices until he/she was 18!!!

The playground that was burned down last Fall was at Haines, but the threat yesterday came into Oakview school, which is up the street from Haines. (They are considered to be on the same campus, but have different playgrounds).

Now the kids were due to start Terra Nova State testing yesterday, so maybe some kid didn't feel like taking tests all day?? Who knows right. My DH goes to Haines and she said she wasn't scared at all as the teachers pretty much told them it was most likely a prank. The Oakview kids were back in their school by 9:30, so they didn't lose too much of their day.

I forgot that the playground was Haines, but I knew it was that campus. DH and I were saying that the kid is in deep doo-doo as it will not be too hard to trace the call.

I agree. This always used to get my goat. I am so mean though I sent my guests to the bar if they wanted to drink. I am FAR from a prude but come on..... I was just at a kids bowling birthday party where a Mom was drinking Bloody Mary's... Can you say "tacky" or "problem drinker". I don't mean to come across as judgemental which I probably am but it's a little pet peave of mine when others are paying for the booze. RANT OVER.

Hi,
Glad you are doing well.

This whole thread just down is bringing us all back out of the woodwork. Kind of neat, huh! I do have to say I hadn't seen this thread on the boards until Alex started cleaning up.

Be safe everyone. Where I am at is just warm and muddy (so far)!

Afternoon all.
I am dreading this afternoon storm. Piglet, I have to go in to work late as well. Picked up 4 hours this evening for another RN who is supposedly returning on a 5:30 PM flight home from Denver. What do you think the odds are that she won't make it back for the rest of her portion of her shift from 11-7. I hope I don't have to stay all night.
Carol, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!
I'll check back in later. Need to run to eye MD appt.
Jedi - just was thinking about you yesterday, and here you are!!!! Welcome back. Check in more often. Glad to hear things are going well and you are enjoying your travels.
Later all.

Piglet- I went to Oakview. Nothing ever exciting happened. The most thrilling thing we did was roller skate around out front! J/k. Glad it was a hoax!
Momto1- That dip is good. One time somebody served it with Chicken in a Biscuit crackers! Yum!
Jedi- Hope the divorce is over soon. It will be a relief when it is. Believe me. I know!
Slo- Hope the finger is better. It can be hard to stop the bleeding on a finger sometimes!
Dmm- link?

How about this weather? I got stuck walking from my last class in a torrential downpour with tons of lightening!
Had a meeting this morning with ds' teachers. He needs an IEP for his specch. he can't pronounce the "R" sound. Anyone familiar with IEPs?

Paint ~ DS13 went to Haines and then Oakview for a year. We used to live in the townhomes right across from Ranch Frosties!

Due to my hearing loss, I had IEP's all through school. My DD5 had an IEP for speech too, but after a year her problem was fixed.

piglet- Ranch Forty! PB Cup No-Name for me! DS' teacher said the IEP was no big deal. He just needs some speech therapy to iron out his "r" sound.

Lauren was dropping a lot of her sounds, and just needed that extra help to get it right.

Ranch Frosties was never the same for us after Harold died. We still go over there (as opposed to the Creamery) every so often because we like their slushies better.

interesting I read as IEP is the subject. I came here to ask...

I am having issues with my son. We just started the IEP process but DS was sent to Linden Oaks yesterday and now has to go to outpatient school for the next few weeks. I am very upset over this and I really do not know what to do. He is such a bright little boy but is very angry over something but just will not share with anyone. We have tried meds but they just make him sick and he is seeing a therapist. We rejoined Rainbows and signed up for church youth group to help make some new friends.

Anyone who can give me any advice would be great feel free to PM me.

I am not sure how much I will be on for the next few weeks but I hope everyone else is well.

DMM I would love the link to your website. My DD even though she is 5 loves that girly stuff

YES YES YES! I was sooo amazed that they would do that :sad2: but the peopel that ordered it do have a drinking problem and RACED me from the church there, that by the time i spoke to our waiter to say NO LIQUOR it had already been ordered :(

That Buffalo chicken ranch dip sounds great!!! Can someone please share the recipe?
Slo, how's the finger? Glad to hear we may see you Saturday at the Blue Restaurant.
DMM, I have a few of those rude members in my family as well. We opted to have the Baptism dinner in the church basement with both of my children and catered it in and then I was sure to avoid that problem. I didn't want the awkwardness of having to say no alcohol. But, come on. Can't grown folks avoid their beverages for one day knowing it is on someone else's tab?!!!
Raining rather good here right now. Just hope the temps hold up til late tonight!!!! Still 52 degrees here.
How's the weather up by you, Mac?

What a good idea, one would thing right?~ hahah Yeah right! I catered Autmn and Gabriels birthday parties right at the house and we live about 1.5hrs away from everyone, so we purposely had NO LIQUOR because we didn't want anyone drinking and driving leaving our house......

The same people that ordered liquor at the party showed up with 3 ginormous bottles of wine AND finished them :sad2: it's really sad.

Nothing is going on here today - very very slow!!!

Katie has had a great day though
I brought all her playdoh to work, so she can play with it in the backroom. The floor back there is just concrete, and is nothing special. She played and played for 2 hours - it was great!! I love her coming to work with me:goodvibes

Thanks to all who asked me about my finger.
It wasn't bad enough for stitches, but it was a very decent size cut. Cutting yourself is a HUGE given in this job, and in fact, I make this topic a part of my interview process for new employees. If I ask, "Do you get upset about possibly cutting yourself?" and they say "YES!" than I know this is not the job for them.

DS - I"m hoping Kevin (DH) can get home before the storm hits. I would hate to think the had to sit in traffic - that is never fun :headache:

piglet - Be careful going to and from work tonight :wizard:
*That bomb threat is scary!! :scared1:
Bunchkins DD goes to that school (I talked to her yesterday), and her DD had to be taken to the neighboring school.

Mac - I'm not receiving any notifications either :sad2:
*I love the penquins:goodvibes

momto1 - We aren't doing anything for the Superbowl, and if fact, I'm not even going to watch the Superbowl:sad2: I'm sure Kevin will flip it on from time to time to see the current score, but outside of that we'll watch some movies. Have fun at your party!!!:cool1:

DMM - I'm glad the baptism went well :goodvibes
When is Roman's surgery again?

Jedi - Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi :wave2:
We missed you - please come by often and visit :grouphug:

Sam - I couldn't even imagine that child being mine, I would have to change my name. I would die of embarrassement!!!!

Debbie - It is great to see so many past posters coming back!!!:goodvibes

Tiggerrrnnnnn - Be careful going to work tonight!!! :wizard:
*It'll be great to see you guys on Saturday :goodvibes
