Calling all Chicago DISers #2

So, what is everyone doing today????
Today we are just hanging out at home - I love that!!! I don't love winter, but I do love the fact that there's very little going on, and that forces us to stay home and enjoy each other's compay. Plus it gives us all a chance to slow down for a day Because once the weather breaks, and it's nice out again, we'll all be busy, or feel we should be busy, because we shouldn't be home and inside on a nice day.

Kevin is making dinner tonight - Chicken Fajitas
He already made the guacomole last night, and it was very hard to not dig in right when I came home from work. But I was good, and didn't touch it



Carol - I'm so glad you are doing better and thanks for the update on the boards

Mac - I haven't had Dominoes in forever, no reason why, I just never think of it. Do they still have Oreo dessert? Have you tried it? Was it good? It sure looked good

Today's going to be slow in the Shrink household. Cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, maybe watch a movie, oh an lots of

Yesterday we got bored, so we took a quick drive up to Wisconsin Dells to walk around the outlet mall. I got an Oswald travel mug, DW got a Minnie mug (for all the Twinings tea we consume), and DD got a ton of stuff as always (dishes, clothes, bath stuff, plushes). We then drove around downtown (it was too cold to get out and walk, plus most things were closed) and had a steak dinner and came home. Overall it was a nice fun day trip.

We're planning on taking a day trip to downtown and another one to Woodfield soon. Now if this cold weather would just go away.

Hey DS - It sounds like you had a good day yesterday. I haven't been to The Dells since I was a kid, and I would like to take my kids there sometime soon. I couldn't agree more with you about getting rid of the cold - I need some outside time without freezing!!!!

BTW PineWood Derbies.. Yuck!! we always had the slowest and ugliest cars. I am so glad that is over..I used to tell my boys that we were participating and that was it!!! Pinewood derby cars - we were not good at making them - so the kids always lost..

Hi there!!

Kevin and I make it the same way.
We always buy a guacomole spice pack that is generally located in 1 or 2 sections of the store. I usually find it sometimes by the avocadoes, and always by the other spice packs - you know, the ones for tacos, gravies, and such.

We like our guacomole a little more creamy, so we always add sour cream - yummy!!! We also add chopped tomatoes (no particular amount, just whatever you want), and that makes it super good too!!!!

The packet calls for 2 avocadoes, and make sure they are super ripe when you buy them. You want them nice and soft, but not squishy. They should also be a darker color. If the store doesn't have any like this, you can buy greener ones, and put them in a paper bag for approx. 24 hours, and that will help ripen them up.

Good Afternoon All!

Boy what a long week. Emily turned 5 on Tuesday so this week has been full of Birthday activities. Tuesday dinner, Wednesday High School Musical on Ice and yesterday she had her birthday party at American Girl Place. She wanted a tea party so she invited 2 of her best friends and we spent the day there.

Her grandma bought her two new outfits for her dolls and I got her the sweet shop. She has been playing with it all day.

I was glad that the weather was better. It wasn't really bad.

Another Chicago newbie here. I grew up in NW Indiana and now live in the Nothwest burbs by Great America. Today has been a busy day. Dog park(its finally been nice enough to take her), , cleaning and now its time for the grocery store and then a stop at Lou Malnati's for pizza

I found you guys!! Sorry I've been MIA, but we had a loss in the family last week and we had to do the whole wake/funeral thing and it was a long, difficult week, but we got through it! My DH's Mom died on Tuesday and although it was very expected, it was still hard nonetheless. I'm just catching up and when I checked my subscribed threads, I couldn't find our thread, so here I am.

Gee I hope WebMaster Alex finds our thread! It was like a history there. All the good times and bad since SLO started the thread, but if we must carry on here, well, then that's what we'll do!!

Has anyone seen the new spring line up for Disney Store. I have to say that if anyone has any little girls and princess lovers, they will be mega-happy! It's very flowery and pastel!

I got a chance to take a peak at it this afternoon, but not for long because DH was not in the mood for that. We were actually at OakBrook looking for a gift for my mother in law's caretaker. She was a wonderful asset to this family. We ended up buying her a Waterford crystal angel and a gift card.

John took down the remainder of our outside lights today and I have been catching up on mounds of laundry and some dishes. I am hoping to start doing wash mid week as spending time on the weekend doing this is a bummer. We are off to the grocery store soon..

I live in Grayslake by the fairgrounds. Lived here for like 2 years now. Except for my nosey neighbor I am loving it here.
Stopped at Lou Malnati's to pick up dinner and next Sunday for every large pizza you buy you get $2.00 off.

He will be going again to Districts in April!
(It's the dads that are really obsessed about making the cars and the speed)
