HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!!!

Happy Father's Day to all our dads, stepdads, granddads, stepgranddads, godfathers, uncles, and etc.....I hope you have a wonderful day today!!!! :goodvibes

HERSEY - Thanks for the tea bag in bathwater suggestion - I will remember that!!!!:)
**I know about the sunscreen, but I'm embarrassed to say, that I hate putting it on, unless I'm going into the pool, and I need to get over that!!!!! I hate the way it feels, and I hate the way it smells, I just hate it - but I would probably hate skin cancer more, so I do need to get over it!!!!!
**I'm glad Alex is enjoying his activity at the library!!!! :)

piglet - I'm sorry to hear of your parents lost dog:( Is there any positive news since you last posted?

Peter & Crissup - :wave2:

Leigh - Did you have any luck with your shade shopping yesterday?

DG - Your bags sound really nice :goodvibes
I will keep my eyes and ears open about the Disney stuff for you :)

Kim - I wonder if they were a part of the mass banning that happened about 3-4 months ago:worried: I miss so many of those people so much, and it's so hard to see names on the CB that I don't recognize:(

Well, I gotta go get my house ready for the company we are having today.
Have a good day today everyone!!
happy father's day!
my DH is sleeping in and Jake and I are watching Nemo for the ??th time.

by the way, the museum of science & industry is free this week!

We had a fast moving storm move though just a little while ago. I was cleaning the floors and had the windows open catching a breeze. Needless to say I had to remop. :( Oh well maybe they will stay clean twice as long.;)

Happy fathers day

Well back to cleaning and doing the pretrip organizing. I have to see if we need anything. The next couple of weekends are going to be very busy. My friend's son is having a college graduation party and I volunteered to help cook.

Piglet I hope your parents pet is found soon. Poor thing must be scared.

That storm was SO INTENSE!

Happy Father's Day!

Yep, we had that big storm, too! Do you think that's the last of the yucky weather for today? We are supposed to be grilling this afternoon, not so sure that's going to be a happening thing.

Slo, how's the sunburn? I feel for you! So much so, I went and got a bit of a burn myself yesterday. It was just so nice out, I sat outside reading most of the day. I just can't resist beautiful weather!

Piglet...I pray the dog is found safe & well...please keep us posted...

Sk8Leigh...how was the shopping trip?

Hersey...I didn't know your trip was coming up so soon! I thought you guys were going in November???

Kim...thanks for the email. I need to look at those dates.

Bunchkin...as always, thank you for the planning! How are things going with you?

Shout out to all...and again, wishing everyone a GREAT Father's Day!!:cool1:

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!

Tiggerrn- have a great trip to DL! :cool1:

Donna- Hi :wave2:

Bunchkin- thanks for planning the meet!

Leigh- I follow politics as well. I'm a Fox News Channel junkie, or I was one for a time. I try to watch Hannity and Colmes once in awhile and On The Record with Greta Van Susteren. I listen to conservative radio talk shows sometimes, like Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity's show  . Once in a while Rush Limbaugh :rolleyes1 I love Laura Ingraham's radio show! :woohoo:
I met her briefly back in September. Had my book signed by her. Her and I are around the same age.
Enough of politics tho.

Hi to all :wave2:

Have a good day everyone :)

I did pretty well on my shopping trip. I didn't actually buy anything, but I think I know what I want to get. For most of my windows I'm going to get Bali cellular shades. I just have to figure out the specifics. They have cheap ones in stock that are about $40 each, and I can use that for some of my windows, but then if you want room darkening you have to special order them. Also, some of my windows are double windows, and the girl there said that for double windows it's' better to get double cell shades, because they hold their shape better. And those are special order. The special order shades are a lot more expensive than the $40 ones. So I think what I might do for the double windows is just use two of the $40 ones, if I don't need room darkening. (I only want that on one window.) That increases the window count, which increases the installation fee, but I think I'd still come out way ahead.

For my sliding door, what I want is soft vertical shades. That's what I was thinking about before, but I didn't know what they were called. What they are is, vertical blinds with fabric attached, so when they're open, you can't see in completely. You can only see some shapes (privacy depends on which color you get, but there's not a lot of choices :( ). They had two kinds, Bali and Levolor, and I liked the Levolor a little better. Bali is on sale this month, and Levolor will probably on sale next month, so I think I'll do the other windows this month and then do the sliding glass door next month. :thumbsup2 The installation fees are separate anyway, because it's vertical vs horizontal. I ordered swatches of the Levolor fabrics, so I'll be able to see which one I want.

I'm probably going to get this from Home Depot. They were helpful. I went to Lowe's and couldn't really get anyone to help me, and I didn't really like it there, so I just left. (Sorry to any Lowe's fans!)

I looked at bookcases a couple of places, and will probably just end up with one from Sauder.

Sorry, I wrote a novel!

Roseprincess - Yes, I'm a Fox News junkie. Sunday mornings I just watch Fox News Sunday, so I don't see Meet the Press. (I did tape it today.)But I see clips of Russert all the time anyway. Everybody really loved him. It's so said.

Going to Olive Garden for dinner tonight. That was my dad's Father's Day pick. :thumbsup2

i hope the doggie is found soon.
i know it is a big worry..

paint, when did you get the second tag?
it is a cutie!

piglet- Hope they find the pup soon! How sad! Little guy is probably so scared!:worried:
mac- Thanks! I got my new tag on the "worst movies" thread. I said I walked out of "Weekend at Bernie's 2". The first one was kind of funny, but it didn't really warrant a second movie, because, after all, how much can a dead guy do?
dgal-Have fun making the bags! I got tons of compliments on my favors and centerpieces. I took full credit for them, too. I am making bags for dsis' bachelorette party this weekend! I don't know everything that's going in, but I have a few ideas!!!

Thanks for all the bday wishes for dd and all the good luck wishes as well. The show turned out okay. The main instructor is just really unorganized and was worse than usual this year. We didn't have a venue until a few weeks ago and they over sold the shows. People who had tickets still had to stand and it was really hot in there. Then, there were tons of costume mix ups! Wrong sizes, wrong costumes, things never coming in or coming in late (the day of the pics)! Anyway, she gave dd a adult size small grass skirt, which we had to pin. Then, during the final show, dd's skirt fell down mid dance! Now, she had on a leotard, but still! That made me so mad!!!:furious: She was kind of embarrassed but kept on dancing the best she could, all with a big smile! Needless to say, we are switching studios next year!
After all that, we went out for dinner to a Mexican placewhere they plopped a big sombrero on her head and sang to her! Today, they spent the day with their dad and dh and I relaxed. We had bad storms roll through while I was at the gym. The power was even partially out- the lights went out but the machines and t.v.s were still on, so I finished my workout! When I got home, I had to call 911 because there was a downed powerline on our street- now that area is blocked off!
Well, I should probably get some sleep. i start the new job tomorrow afternoon!

Kim - I wonder if they were a part of the mass banning that happened about 3-4 months ago:worried: I miss so many of those people so much, and it's so hard to see names on the CB that I don't recognize:(
Apparently they were. I didn't realize it was that long ago. :worried:

We had a very nice day yesterday!!! :goodvibes

Everyone came over, and we sat outside while the girls were in the pool. As the dad's were opening presents, it was raining, but by the time presents were done, and the dinner was done being made, the rain was over, and we went and ate outside. But boy.....it was chilly!!!!!! We had to go inside, and put some sweatshirts on. Then after dinner, we played some bean bags, and then everyone went home. It was a very very nice day!!!!! :goodvibes

This morning, the girls and I have to leave early, so I can make a delivery before I go to work. The girls know about this, but they will not be happy when it's time to wake them up :sad2: They will be crabby, crabby, crabby!!!!!

HERSEY - The storms yesterday morning were much worse by you, than they were here. We had a lot of wind, and a decent amount of rain, but not much thunder and lightening.

Dani said:
Jake and I are watching Nemo for the ??th time.
This made me chuckle, because Stephanie was like that with Toy Story 2 :)

Donna - The sunburn is starting to heal, and starting to itch while healing - I hate that!!!! I've been keeping a lot of lotion on it to keep it moist, but it's still itching. Thanks for asking!! How is your sunburn???

Rose - :wave2:

Leigh - I'm glad your had a pretty successful shopping day :)

piglet - I'm sorry to hear about your parents dog still missing:(
I'm sending tons of PD their way for the dog to be found soon:wizard:

Mac - Thanks for the listing!!!

Paint - I saw that post - how fun that you got a tag out of it!!!!
**I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your DD during her recital - I would not be happy about this either :sad2:
**Good luck with your new job today!!!!:wizard:

Kim - Yeah, I think it was Feb/March when the bannings happened. It wasn't a good thing :sad2: They are there one day, and the next day they are gone  I know some people were going to be reviewed, and possibly have their bannings lifted, but I don't know what became of that  I truly do miss some of these people!!!!!:worried:

Well, I guess I should get into the shower and get my day going
Have a good day today everyone!!

Happy Monday everyone! Weather looks to be nice for the next few days.

Thanks for all the good wishes for the dog, still no word on her. :worried:

Slo and Kim ~ I miss a lot of people too.

Hi everyone!!!

Busy weekend for us!

Here's a not-so-short story of what happened!!! :rotfl:

The Jackhammers' game went well! They lost, but it was a ton of fun. They do so much entertaining, crazy stuff inbetween innings that the whole evening was just great. And then of course there was fire works afterwards!

We're going to a game tomorrow night too! Already got our tickets early this morning when the box office opened! :hyper:

Our Father's Day was a lot of fun.
It started Saturday afternoon. We got a super great price on a room at the Hyatt in Lisle through Hotwire. So we went there and checked in. Great room. Went to eat at Famous Dave's and then back to the hotel for lots of swimming in their pool! The kid's loved that! Major complaint was that there were several guests from a couple weddings that were staying there and when they came back to their rooms in the early AM they were soooo loud!! :furious: I got hardly any sleep! Had to call down to the front desk at 3am!!! :furious: The next morning I complained to the manager on duty before checking out. I'm waiting to hear from one of the upper mgmt people now.
Nice hotel...rotten guests!!!

Next morning went to brunch at Heaven on Seven in Naperville, had a ressie.
We were really exicted to try this restaurant, it's New Orleans themed for those that don't know. There's 2 other locations downtown as well.
Get to the place, get seated after a short wait..they were busy, and then wait and wait and wait...no one comes to take our order...wait some more... you get the idea!! :furious: I get up and tell the hostess. She assures me someone will be by us soon. No one comes...the tables seated after us are getting their orders taken. :furious: That's it!!!....we get up to leave. The hostess stops us, I say we are starving and that we're leaving. She explains that our waitress we should have is kinda slow! What? :confused3 So we say it's too late we're going. She insists we stay and she gives us another waitress. Ok, we stay.
I appologize to the new waitress for being slightly cranky and thank her for serving us. Food is awesome!!!!!!! :worship: They offer us a free appetizer for the trouble we went through. YAY!!! It was great!!! Thanked them!
Then after the main course they offer a free dessert. VERY NICE of them to do!! They bring out 2 HUGE desserts!!! :worship: A huge, delicious order of Bread pudding and a 6 layer mud pie!! :worship:
I forgot I had a coupon for 10% off, but all the free food made up for it!
And despite the rough start, it was a great place and awesome food AND we will be returning to there!
I ate something I never had before, I am usually not this brave.
I had parmesan reggiano cheese grits with andouille sausage with poached eggs. DELICIOUS!!!!

Then we went to Naper Settlement for Naper Days. So much fun!!!! Too full from brunch to try any of the great food that was there though!! :rotfl:

NOVEL OVER!!! Sorry!!! :rotfl2:

slo Please start using that sun screen. Try Avon or Neutragena, they don't smell bad or feel sticky. :thumbsup2
Father's Day at your house sounded really nice!!!

disgal That was nice of your DF to find that pattern!! ::yes::

Hersey At least it was only rain that messed up your floors!! I clean and the kids bring their friends over!

Kim Regardless of banning, people should come to the meet. ::yes:: What do we care if their banned! It's not like the DIS police will be there!! :rotfl:

paint Happy birthday to your DD!!!! :cool1: :cake: Hope she had a great day!!
That's a long haul for new wheels!!! :faint:

piglet SOrry to hear your parent's dog is still gone. :(

Tiggerrrnnn HOpe you got your packing done. Have a great trip!!! Can't wait to hear about it when you get back!!

crissup Haven't been to NY since I was a kid, need to go back! :thumbsup2 Too bad your trip was for business.

Hi to everyone else!!! :yay: :cool2:

Gotta run!!!
Take care all!!!

Evening all. I have no business being here since I haven't got my packing done. I do have clothes choices laid out (not definate decisions made) and have electronics all charged and stuff strewn about here and there. Guess I had better get a movin' !!!!! '
Piglet, hope they find your parents' dog soon.
Paint, good luck at the new job. So sorry to hear your DD had a bummer of a recital. Maybe next year will be better.
Bunchkin, sounds like you had a fun weekend along with a few hiccups.
Slo, glad to hear your sunburn is healing.
Hi to Leigh, Mac, Hersey, KimRaye and Donna. Hope you are all enjoying your summer. I can't believe how fast it is going by already.
Rose, are you any further packed and ready to go. I haven't had a chance to catch my breath since last week.
DH aunt is in the hospital. They are running all sorts of tests on her. She couldn't stand up last Friday, was really weak and was acting goofy (goofier than usual for her-she has a history of mental illness, but is just usually a little slow/off). They are transferring her to UIC tonight. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers for us while we are away. I hope to come home to good news.
I'll try to check in tomorrow, but if I don't get the chance, have a good week everyone.

As much as I love the heat in the summer - this weather is really nice too!!!::yes:: It's been nice having the windows open so we can air out the house :)

Leigh - :wave2:

piglet - I'm sorry your parents dog hasn't been found yet :(

Bunchkin - I can feel your pain about the loud hotel neighbor. When we were downtown for our anniversary, we were woken up to very very loud unruley children. They kids were probably 8 and under, and they were screaming, and screeching, and yelling - it was crazy!!!!!!! I called the front desk and told them to call the room and tell them to SHUT UP!!!! They did, and then they were a pinch less loud, but we were already up, so we stayed up - I was p*s*ed off!!!!!
When you called the front desk, did your neighbors get quiet? That stinks about the restaurant too - at least it got better and not worse:) Have fun at the baseball game tonight!!!!!:cool1:
**I will have to try those sunscreens - thanks!!!!:)

Tiiiggernn - I hope you get everything packed in time :wizard:
Have an awesome trip - I can hardly wait to hear all about it!!!!:)
**I'm sorry to hear about your DH"s Aunt :( I will keep her in my prayers to get better soon.

Well, I gotta get our and get walking - I didn't work out the last 2 days, and I need to!!!
Have a good day today everyone!!!!

Good morning!

Tigg I hope they find out what is going on with your husband aunt. It is very fustrating when they can't find out what is wrong. Have a great vacation in case you don't get back.

Bunchkin I heard about that restaurant in Naperville before I want to try it. Sounds fancy? I never though of Lisle being a wild and crazy town.Sorry your sleep was wrecked.

Piglet What kind of dog does you parents have. Someone around here last week lost there dog and they went on findtoto.com I don't know what the cost is though. I hope they find the dog soon.

Slo- DD is a bear to get up early (and I don't mean the sweet Pooh bear variety!). We start with a nice wake up, but that escalates to me putting the lights on an pulling off her blankets!
Tig- Have a great trip! Hope dh's aunt is better soon!
Bunchkin- I was interested to read your post after I saw all the flaming smilies! I love Heaven on Seven and didn't know there was one in Naperville! Free dessert always cheers me up!

So...remember when I mentioned the smalle of gas in my basement...I finally called Nicor yesterday. They came out and their meter went crazy in the basement! We had two leaks, so our gas is shut off to the dryer and the hot water heater. Plumbers are coming out to replace the copper piping (a big no-no, as gas corrodes copper- wonder why our home inspector didn't notice that?!?). Ds is happy I am not making him shower this morning!!!
