Need to run!
Cubs tickets go on sale soon, so I'm off to the virtual waiting room!!! :cool1:

TTFN!!!:tigger:

Bunchkin -- did you get cubs tickets?? I was so bummed because we had a meeting at work today from 10 - 11:15...don't they KNOW that everyone just wants to try and get cubs tickets today??? :lmao: I work up north of the city, so most up there are cubs fans not like down here in the south burbs...
By the time I got into the waiting room (after work at home) there were none of the games that I wanted left, so I got a night game in April. GO CUBS!!!

jedi_librarian -- how is pita inn?? my friend works down the street from me at allstate, and she says we should go there sometime. i've never been though. my favorite place to eat up by work is bob chins!

Thanks everyone for the welcomes!! I think my DH is joining everyone who is sick. He came home after work today with a fever and he's all achey...I went to target to get him some stuff...I ended up checking out with chicken soup, crackers, dayquil, nyquil, and chocolate milk. The cashier was like...well, someone doesn't feel good!! I think he's doing a little better and the dog is sitting with him all worried because she can tell he is not feling well. pixiedust: for all the sickleys to feel better...

m_kasch I am so confused.. you live in the southern burb but work at Allstate in northbrook?? That is a way too long drive..

:rotfl:

No, I actually live in the southern burbs and work at Walgreens in Deerfield...a little farther north than Allstate. Yes, I know I am crazy!! But, it's a good place to work, and at my new position (started in Jan) I can work 6 - 2:30, so it only takes an hour. You have no idea how many times I hear...you live WHERE??!!?? When I started the new position, everyone was coming in my office like...I heard that you live in Frankfort? That can't be true... :lmao:

After waiting forever on line and on the phone, and then giving up, and then checking again later this afternoon.....I FINALLY got my Cubs tickets!!!
I didn't get my first choice, which was a May game with a Webkinz giveaway, but I got my secong choice of a July game with the American Girl Cubs outfit giveaway day. Pricey tickets!!!!

I hate to say, being a Cubs fan, that I have never been to Wrigley Field yet I have seen the Sox play.... twice!!!! :sad2: Both games were work related and free!!! That being said, that would be the only way I would go to see the Sox!!! :rotfl2:

Donna I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to your son's girlfriend! My prayers & thoughts are with all of you.
Please keep us updated on her condition.

jedi See above post for info on the next meet. Movie doesn't open until June 27th, so it would be a late June or early July meet if the dates work for everyone.

I hope you plan on coming!!! I haven't seen you in ages!!! :goodvibes

Good morning to all my fellow Chicago DISers. It's actually getting warmer here. I think yesterday was the first day in a while where it felt like it was above 0 outside. We're so looking forward to spring. There's still no big plans at the Shrink household for this weekend. We'll probably watch more Disney DVDs and I have a couple more pages to add to my thesis before it's complete. My DW and I are both hoping we can get enough of our work done during the next two weeks so that we can go to the Smokey Mountains during our spring break in March.

Now you can hold that over everyones head when they say "I have such a long drive" :thumbsup2

Jedi I hear from my boss spring time in DC is really beautiful. Hopefully they don't keep you in meetings all day.

Donald How are things going? My friends son is having a hard time with processing the shooting. His big brother goes to NIU but he was not there that day, Thankfully.

Slo Glad Stephanie is doing better :cheer2: How was Katie? Those two are so cute together I've never seen to siblings so close.

Morning everyone!!

Sandy, good to hear about Stephanie doing well!! Really helps put those last minute nerves at ease.

Donna   We will def. keep her and your family in our prayers!

Bunchkin, congrats on the tickets! Very cool!

pixiedust: :grouphug: Pixie dust & prayers to everyone here who needs them.

It's hard for me to keep up with everything.

Wish us luck, DD is trying out for her High School choir this afternoon to see if she can get in the Treble choir or Varsity choir vs. regular old choir that anyone can join for next year's classes. I don't know when we will find out though (probably April?). I have no idea where she will fall on spectrum. My guess is she will be singing "My Country Tis of Thee" since I am now fully convinced that is the ONLY song in the universe you are allowed to sing when trying out for any singing group. :lmao: That is the song she had to sing to try out for the voices choir she is in; that is the song she will have to sing when auditioning for the summer camp (they make everyone audition so they know where to place you within the camp)...that is the song *I* had to sing a million years ago in 6th grade to see if you could even be in 7th grade choir. I think DD said it has to do with the range that song has in it or something. I didn't make 7th grade choir so know nothing about ranges, etc...

Things are going okay here. My family and I are handling the situation quite well. We've started seeing the first few students come to our clinic for counseling during the past few days. We anticipate we'll be seeing lots more next week when classes start again. On Monday and Tuesday we're going to have counselors available in every classroom. I also know they've been giving professors special training on how to handle the return to classes.

m_kasch ~ That is quite a drive. My Dad (who lives in Orland hills) drove to Gurnee everyday for two years for his job. We thought he was nuts.

Slo ~ I am so glad to hear that the surgery went well. Lauren goes to see her ENT on Wednesday to see if she will need the same thing done. It was not until you talked about Stephanie that it occured to me that her chronic ear pain may be from the tubes that were placed 2 years ago.

:wizard: :thumbsup2 :cheer2:  as needed around

Off to the PTA Fun Fair with the kids.

Morning or aftermoon really..

m_kasch ~ That is quite a drive. Walgreens on Lake Cook?? WOW from Frankfort.. that is dedication at least the 6 am to 2:30 isn't too bad for traffic but what time do you have to get up and leave to be there at 6 am??? 4ish???

Donald's Shrink that has to be so hard on all of the friends and families and even the kids that didn't know anyone that was injured or shot.. It just effects all of us for assuming that we are safe.

Becky2005 that is so funny about 'My Country Tis of thee'. I hope she makes the choir she wants to be in..

DisneyMommyMichelle how is Roman today??

Well I'll answer more later but I have to drive Geoff to another ceremony..

see ya later

What's everyone doing today?

The girls and I are picking up my mom in a couple of hours, and we are going out to breakfast, and then going shopping for Stephanie's First Communion dress:) It should be a good, fun day!!! :goodvibes

I noticed the smilies are in different places - I hate it when that happens. It makes my posting time longer, because I don't know where anything is at.

DS - Good luck with finishing your thesis pixiedust:

HERSEY - Katie is doing well, thanks for asking!!! :goodvibes
The girls are very close, but they have their moments too
*How are you feeling? I hope you are feeling better today pixiedust:
*How is Alex feeling? I hope he is feeling better today too pixiedust:

DMM - Does Roman have to have blood drawn for his surgery? Stephanie did 6 years ago, but then when Katie had her tubes put in 4 years ago, and then this year, Stephanie didn't need to - it was great!!!!! If Roman does have to have blood drawn, ask them for the cream that numbs the skin - many doctors or nurses won't offer that, and it really does help. If you have any questions, please let me know!!

Becky - How did your DD do at her choir try-out yesterday? I hope it went well :)

piglet - Good luck at the ENT Wednesday pixiedust: Hopefully he/she can give you some answers on what to do about the tube that's still in Laurens ear.

geffric - :wave2:

Well, I gotta go get ready for shopping
Have a good day today everyone!!

Hi, all. Hope everyone that isn't feeling well gets better soon & the kids do, too.

Slo..I'm happy that the surgery went well.

Welcome to new members to the thread! Check in often. This is a great group here in this "box"!

My son's girlfriend is still in ICU. If you could, Please continue to keep her and our families in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks so much.

What's everyone doing today?

Becky - How did your DD do at her choir try-out yesterday? I hope it went well :)

We will be going to Sunday School and then off to Oswego for a gymnastics meet for DD. If anyone wants to come watch gymnastics it's at the high school...it starts at 3 pm.

DD's try-out went OK. It went really fast and she DID sing 'My Country Tis of Thee' -- :rotfl2: Another girl that she knows from school & is on her gymnastics team came out before DD went in. She warned her that the tonal reading was hard.

We had to wait for another girl, that I thought was in there for quite a bit of time. Our time was 3:15 and we got there are 3ish -- saw the girl we knew about 3:05 and then DD didn't get called back until 3:30. Next thing I know I look up and she's done. I thought maybe she bombed it or something it went so fast. DD said she thought she did OK. She did say the tonal reading was difficult as they do 3 sets. She said 1st one she knows she aced, 2nd one was more difficult and 3rd one was extremely hard. The teacher had told her before they started that no one gets through the 3rd one. She did find out she's a Soprano 2 -- which means a lower Soprano. I didn't know they had levels until we saw a performance by the High Schoolers in Oct and they were introducing themselves as Soprano 1 and Soprano 2. I always was surprised when DD would say she's Soprano as she does NOT have the high pitched voice I think of when I hear the word Soprano. So basically almost an Alto but not quite. The teacher did ask if she ever sang Alto. Probably because they have more spots for Altos, KWIM. Just like the music summer camp that if you are a Soprano you need to send that in ASAP as 90% of the girls applying are Sopranos but if you are an Alto, you have a better shot at getting in.

We won't find out until right before Spring break which is the last week of March as yesterday was the first day of try-outs and I know they are having them next weekend too. That doesn't seem that long to wait but probably because we have had to wait longer to find out about the summer camp and she also has a gazillion things going on between now & spring break. It should go fast.

quick drop in.
out the door for church.

have you all covered for the week
