Hello all, I found this thread from a link on another. Hope I am not intruding on your community, but I was SO excited to see it! We currently live in Roselle, and DH and I both work in Naperville. I have not had enough time to read through all the previous posts, but you seem to be a great bunch!

When will the winter madness end?? Do any of you consider moving to FL during this time of year?

DMM ~ As much as I appreciate the med students, I dislike having them too. My DD hates having her ears looked at, and with med students it is even worse.

I had a med student in the delivery room with dd! I was calm and cool, so I was probably a good example and didn't scare her off!

Our pedes office is with Loyola, so we always have students there. Nathan used to give each one a hug when they left the office. There was one time that the girl said that him doing that made up for all the kids she had made cry that day and reinforced why she wanted to go into pediatrics.

Bunchkin- Yep. Still sick. I hope it isn't the flu. He had the shot but I know some people still get it. Luckily, I was not scheduled to work today so we are home together!

Yep.. I am so upset I can't see straight. I had to talk with my boss this afternoon and I had a hard time keeping in it. She thought I was upset about another thing.. she is just a cheery little thing like lalalalalala.. great oppty to work here.. can't see why I would be upset about a $20,000 decrease. Guess she doesn't work to pay bills.. I don;t have the spirit for being cheery right now.. I need to find another job.. any job to get out and not take this pay cut.. I think I'll check at SAMs / WalMart when I go there this weekend. maybe they have employee discounts on food.


BUT.. I have been thinking about WDW in October.. if I have $$$$$$ to go..What are your dates?

I know a ladies group that will be there Oct 11-19 and another group of ladies october 23 -29. Better to think of happy things..

I made it to & from Go Diego Go Live. It was a cute show. The best part is I got home and NO messages on the machine!!! *WHEW* which means no one sick at school.

And Shamrock Shakes are back -- which means Spring *must* be on it's way despite what it's like outside.

Guess what I found out about yesterday -- A show tune singing group that DD wants to do for this summer offers a "Traveling Troupe 2008" -- so I check it out and it's 3rd Annual Performing Experience at Walt Disney World over Columbus Day weekend. It goes for kids in grades 6-9 of fall of 2008!!! That means both my oldest could do it & they have a Friends & Family package. Other than being in a summer workshop, there are 4 Friday rehearsals starting in Sept. We could handle that.

It's a quick weekend and would be really expensive but it would be the last year DD could do it, so I'm thinking we *have* to do this.

It includes round-trip non-stop airfare; 3-day Hopper passes; 4 night stay at a Disney Deluxe Resort; 4 breakfasts; 3 lunches; 3 dinners; charter bus to/from airport, police security for the group; participation in Disney's Magic Music Days & Performance on a Disney stage.

That alone is Woo Hoo!!! The kids don't have school that weekend -- they would leave Thursday night and get back Monday night. I'm only trying to decided if DS-11 should just go as a spectator this time vs. participate. I don't know if he is going to like this or not but you have to sign up by July 1 and the summer workshop isn't until the end of July. I need to call the tour operator and find out the cost to see the price difference for performer vs. specator.

Becky ~ I agree that something like that is a once-in-a-lifetime type opportunity, and I would sign one of my kids up in a heartbeat. My DS Kevin wants to do a thing through the Shedd that while is costs $1600, he would spend a week in the Bahamas, on a boat, learning Marine Biology hands on. DH and I are hoping we can afford for him to go, it will be three summers from now.

Becky - Totally cool about the opportunity for the sigining troupe in Disney! I would have to do it.

Did you see my new ticker? Made RSVP for September 26 - October 3rd for mom and me to do our 2nd Disney trip. I took her for the first time last year and she was bit by the Mouse! She planned to go back before we left last September. My guys are planning to do the Exhibition Everst event on the weekend and then go home for work and school. Mom and I will stay behind for fun. Food and wine starts that weekend and I have been dying to go!

I am so glad this is Friday and the weekend is about to start! Have a great weekend everybody!

Hersey - you're right, they're saying more snow on Monday I might have another exotic trip up my sleeve But right now the only thing I'm planning is a trip to Washington D.C. in April for a library conference. I hope the weather is good then
