Ok i really just want to know where everyone stands.

1. for Eisner to stay in place cause he so rocks gets the job done and why shake things up?

2. for Eisner to go cause he can no longer run the company.

3. don't care either way, you just like to come to the Dis to post and hang out or flame or argue(which is cool)

There is too much termoil and he doesn't have the desire to pursue the right course. It is time for him to go and honestly I wouldn't mind a subtle change, as in promoting Iger and take a 'look see' at what he's really made of, rather than a sale or a risk on a newcomer...

Dollar and sense wise, I think Disney is on the way up and I think some of the upswing can be credited to ME. But right now he is too much of a distraction.

I think the most dramatic change that will occurr when he is gone will be in the moral of the employees at the parks. Some of the little chip, chip, chips we read here would disappear if the CM's were motivated and happy again.

I'm only asking cause i was reading some threads and thought some people were more then happy( noone in particualr i'm not one for names) with how things are, which is cool, i just wanted to get a sense of how many. thanx for responding so far guys

Mr. Viking! Again I'm curious.

Are you seriously blaming the wonderful CMs for all the 'chips' we discuss around here? It is their fault? Do I have that straight?

On the way up? When you are in a large hole you only can go up the stock price is still way below where it was 5 years ago.

As for the morale of the CM I can't comment about it. Every CM I have met at WDW or DL has always done an outstanding job and made my visits great. I'm with you Baron

Mike

When 43% of the stockholders take time out of their schedules to turn a normally ho-hum meeting into a major event and cast a no confidence vote, that's gotta say something. It's time for ME to move on.

Here's my only worry - how much of the cutbacks to the parks were due to the bad economic conditions of the last four years? If/when a new leader is installed, will he be able to pour much needed capital into the parks? And if he can't, will he be blamed?

Vike.............I have to agree with renknt. Disney stock was so depressed it would be hard pressed to do anything but recover. Where is Disney compared to 5 years ago? Where are other major stocks relative to 5 years ago? Don't fall prey to all of the Board's current spin about 100 percent growth (doubling of the stock price) in the last year and a half. The stock was in the $13 neighborhood.............from a high of over $40. That is why it is...............................

Na, na, na, na............Na, na, na, na...............Hey, hey, hey.............Goodbye.

Let's see.... Sept '02 stock was under $13.00. Today it's over $26.00. And, a lot of stocks are still well below where they were 5 years ago.

A happy, motivated CM will probably stoop down and pick up a piece of trash long before it's photographed and displayed on this web site as ultimate proof the World is ending. Happy employee's will go the extra mile.

Of course, if the poor CM attitudes that have been reported are false, then never mind, replacing ME will have no affect on their performance.

.... Do you believe that the hi stock price of 5 years ago was an accurate price, or was it as overly inflated as every other stock price prior to the big bust ?

I was in a discussion the other day, and someone brought up how President Clinton got away with soo much. someone said that "ANY CEO that got what Monica gave him would be summarily Fired" I said maybe not Ei$ner...well, he might get a huge reprimand, but Disney would pay to have it quieted up, and the board would rubber-stamp whatever punishment (or show of punishment) he wanted. I submit their response as proof. over 50% of the voted shares wanted him out! and over 30% of the voted shares wanted the Senator gone! This is not only unprecedented, The response that they gave was thumbing their noses at Roy AND the investors. Roy isn't finished yet...

What do you think, Could Ei$ner have gotten away with what Bill did?

:bounce:

3 People voted to keep Ei$ner i wanted to hear theyre opinions as well to see where their comming from........what happened?

That high was inflated along with the rest of the market. However, I'm not only focusing on where the stock is today relative to that high, but how Disney compares to other companies in the same analysis. Heck, IBM survived the burst of the IT bubble (one of the leading causses of overall market inflation) and it is still trading at a higher percentage of it's 2000 share price than Disney is. That is what I look at when evaluating the stock. There are many ups and downs and influencing factors, but I do believe, all things considered, that Disney has underperformed.

Of course stock price isn't the sole reason why I think it is time for ME to move on. Heck, I've always acknowledged his part in bringing Disney back from the brink in 1984. I've recognized his good moves and given him the benefit of the doubt on many mistakes. I didn't take up the cause because of the poor performance of ABC, the failure of Go.COM, the losses attributable to the Fox transaction, etc., etc. They were always there. However, more recent events like finally letting the Pixar relationship implode, closing the Florida animation studios, trying to spin the recent gains into some earth shattering coup on his and the Board's part................just too many things added to the scrap heap that have pushed me over the edge. We aren't that stupid. The no confidence vote shows that a large portion of the stockholders aren't either. There is no way a 43% withhold was the result of misinformation and panic. No, it appears I'm not the only one who has had enough.

In some regards though a series of events stacked up that affect the bottom line of a company like Disney more so then an IBM. IBM kept its stock price up by laying off 10's of thousands. Disney made many of the same cost cuts as IBM, but much of Disney's bottom line is dependant on disposable income and the perceptionthat "all is well" in the world. Disney was hit hard by the economy,9/11,SARs,terror and war. It's not an excuse or an argument to support ME, but problems beyond ME's control hurt the stock price also.

And I've always recognized that. However, that will only get you so far. Such "items beyond his control" have had no bearing on his mistakes. The compounding of the two has had a terrible effect. Yes, people make mistakes, but wouldn't you agree ME has made few more than we should give him a pass on?

Can anybody get Donald Trump on the line to say "You're Fired!"

***" but wouldn't you agree ME has made few more than we should give him a pass on? "***

Absolutely....and I don't think I've ever said otherwise.

I'll PM you the rest of my answer.
