Dear American Cousins,

My, you’re looking well. I love that sweater: it really brings out the colour in your eyes. You hair? It’s wonderful, really suits the shape of your face. Your vacation photographs? You bet I want to see them - I’ll weep with gratitude. Of course I’ll walk the dog for you: isn’t he adorable. No problem at all.

Me? Oh I don’t want anything. Not really. No nothing. No, it’s fine.

I know what I was going to mention to you (you’ll love this). Well, you know that I am a BIG fan of the works of that fine American composer Stephen Sondheim? The man whose work speaks to my head, heart and soul. You also know that I’ve become an admirer of that fine American actor Raul Esparza; he’s rather splendid isn’t he. Did you know that Esparza appeared in Sondheim’s “Company” on Broadway? I have the CD and I have really enjoyed the clips on YouTube. Just imagine one of my favourite artists appearing in one of my favourite shows.

Well, I understand that PBS is broadcasting the show sometime in February. Could you suggest anyone who could record this show onto DVD for me? I’ll pay for the DVD and the postage.

If you know anyone who can help please PM me. I’d be hugely grateful.

Thanks awfully

Rob

PS: Did I tell you I liked your hair?

You might want to post this on the general Community Board :) We don't get too many US Diser's visiting us here :)

Rob,

Don't you need a different format than the way the machines work in the US? I'd be happy to try to do this for you, but I'm not the most tech savy person.

Yes...the only problem if recorded on dvd it would play in a different format:confused3

Perhaps it could be uploaded for you on Youtube.....I am not techie but I bet if you posted on the US DISboards someone would know exactly what to do to get this special recorded for you:surfweb:

I think that you do need a differently formatted DVD player...which fortunately I have.
It'd be great if you could help. I will PM you.

For those who are interested here is a link to the PBS site:

Thanks

I will be away at WDW at the time, but could program my Tivo to record it. I could then upon return burn it onto a DVD (albeit in North American NTSC as opposed to UK PAL format).

That wouldn't be an issue if you have a multi region player- or can "hack" yours into one, many websites have the codes to do that, ergo instructions to remove the factory programming that limits players to only playing disks from certain regions. I did the latter so I can enjoy the obscure titles I can only find on eBay.uk!
