We haven't had any snow at my house yet this year (although Devin is praying like mad for an early snow day). However, my week has been affected by snow.
Yesterday morning (Monday), I dropped Devin at school and stopped to gas up my car on the way to work. As soon as I got to the office there was a message waiting for me from Devin. Right after I left, he was informed that there was a 2 hour delay for the start of school that day.
Apparently, the outlying areas of the school district got snow and the delay was for the busses in that part of the district. Geeze, how was I to know. It rained all night at our house and I never thought to turn on the news or the radio to see if there was a delay or closure for school. (Water, even lots of it, doesn't phase us northwesterners.)
Anyway, I had to grab a stack of work to take with me and go rescue the child until school started. That is how my week started and it hasn't improved a whole lot. (But the countdown to vacation is down to 8 more workdays - YEA!)
Life isn't totally horrible, however. That cold I had never did quite make it into a case of bronchitis. I still have just a liitle bit of a 'left-over' cough at this point. Thank goodness! I thought that the "barking cough" was going to drive my dogs absolutely bonkers. Especially the dachshund, he thought that I was 'barking' at him.
I also shelled all of my walnuts this weekend! I ended up with 5 gallon-size ziplock bags full of walnut halves. (A new record!) Just to clarify the amount for the rest of you... that's 14 pounds of nuts. It was quite the adventure. The dachshund likes nuts and I had to battle with him all weekend. I sounded like a freakin' three year old, "Leave those nuts alone! Those are MINE! Mine, mine, mine!" I wonder what my crop would have looked like if I hadn't missed the first week of the harvest galavanting aound the Caribbean with you guys. (The nuts were just starting to drop when we left for the cruise.)
AND... Tonight I'm off to finish the last of my Christmas shopping! (I even got my stepmom's package sent off yesterday.) Unfortunately, Devin hasn't even started his shopping yet. Oh well, so much for avioding the crowds. (But then again, if I really luck out, his father will take him to get most of it done while he has the kid this weekend. I can always hope!)
Now on to others...
Darlene - The vow renewal sounds like a grand idea. If we weren't going to be so far from home, I'd see if my mom wanted to do the flowers. She used to be a certified florist, but could make a decent living at it working for someone else (the shop owners are the ones that make the money). However, she loves doing flowers and cakes for weddings as a hobby. (You guys were wondering how I could be crazy enough to volunteer for creating the t-shirts? Well, she's proof that I come by it honestly.)
Doreen - If you want to be the flowergirl then we'll have to make sure that you get the proper behavioral training. (I've been one twice in my life.) Let's see... there's refusing to drop the petals while walking down the aisle. Then there's making faces across the aisle at the ring bearer during the ceremony. And let's not forget, refusing to pose for any of the pictures. Oh, and if you really want to follow in my footsteps, there's taking a pair of scissors to your hair about a week before the ceremony. (Boy, did I get in trouble for that one! Thank God, the lady that did my hair was talented enough to hide it.)
Tina - The wedding pictures were great. It looks like you guys are going to have great memories of your wedding. (I have to admit that they made me a bit jealous, though. Those sunny skies and that blue, blue water... and I'm stuck here with gray skies and rain. ICK!)
Andy - "Two by two", huh? Sounds like Noah unloading the ark! LOL (But seriously, great job!)
Denise & Andrew - Welcome to our happy little tribe!
Joanna, Terry, CV, & Sue - Glad to see that we all survived the Thanksgiving food-fest! Hope that your preparations for the upcoming Holidays go smoothly!
Bobby/Cindy & Karen - MIA? Hope that you guys are okay!
Anyone I missed - I hope that things are going well for you.
Well, I better get a bit more work done before I leave for the day.
Here's a batch of good vibes for anyone that needs it!
Dori
