Hi everyone!

I've been so busy with school work I just pop in now and then to read this thread and then I am gone again. We are leaving to see the mouse on the 19th then we head to The Villages an hour north of Disney on Thanksgiving to celebrate my mother's 75th birthday. I have so much to do before then I just can't keep up. I have 2 books & 1 ten page paper due by class next weekend, I have 2 drawings to do for my art class next Weds night, laundry piled to the ceiling, and I have to pack for 4 us in the next 2 weeks. aaaaah!

I also have to lose some weight but I am too stressed to commit right now. I will definitely jump on the band wagon eventually.

I think it's great that you all chat and seem to know each other so well. Can't wait to meet everyone!

I will be in the middle of my very last class for my bachelor's in early childhood ed. when we sail so it will be a huge celebration for me. Lots and lots of smoothies!!!!

::yes::

Doreen:

Matt's kidney stone procedure was yesterday, and he is having some pain today but it is manable with meds.

It looked as though they might have to cancel for awhile because they couldn't find the stone. They gave him some contrast by intervenous and they finally found it next to his hip bone.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

Hello Everyone!!

Hope all who are/have been not feeling well are/get better soon!! The time change, while I love it being light in the morning, has been a BIG change for me this year!! That, coupled with my procedure last week, my lower back/sciatica flaring up, puts me in bed around 8:30!! Yikes! The VCR has certainly been getting its workout lately. I have to keep up with Desperate Housewives, Lost and Survivor!!!

Darlene -- so glad Stan is home, even with the drain. I'm sure he's pretty happy about that!!!

Terry -- OMG I love the picture. I wish I could do stuff like that!!

Lyn -- how did Matt's procedure go?? I've been thinking about him.

Mjasp -- no I don't think you or anyone else is crazy talking to each other "before the fact." It gives me and everyone else who's new a good insight on all of you and I only wish 2 years weren't so far away!!! I can't wait to meet you all.

As for the Diet Challenge I do need to lose about 20 lbs or so but more important I need to tone up!! Luckily I don't have to worry about any leftover Halloween candy. I always buy candy that I don't like and my kids don't go trick-or-treating anymore so I don't worry about the candy I like coming home. LOL Anyone here belong to Curves? I joined this past March and have to say I love it and I am not one to exercise!!!

Anyway, it's my "short" day at work. My two youngest have minimum day on Thursdays and get out at 12:55 and 1:30 so I leave work at 12:30. Guess I'd better get back to work!! Have a great day all.

TootyJane:

Did your procedure last week make your back/sciatica flare up?

You asked about Curves, I have belonged for two years now and when I first went it really worked. However you must go for it to work and since I haven't been there for 6 months it not working and I have gained back all the weight I lost and then some.

I have been trying very hard to watch what I eat and I have been watching everything as I put it into my mouth. I just can't seem to get into this diet right now but I am going to keep at it.

Lyn

Hi Everybody

Hope you are all feeling better. I have been working very long hours this last week so have'nt had a lot of time to post, but I have been checking often to keep up to date.

Darlene- hope you and Sandy had a great time and so glad Stan is home.

Terry - The picture is fantastic, would love to know how to do that sort of thing.

Lyn - Hope Matt is up and about real soon.

Andy- Sorry to hear you had to cancel your trip, hope you are feeling better,my best to you,Hazel and Angelina.

Doreen - Sorry to hear to have been under the weather, hope you feel better soon.

Joanna- Dont think you are mad at all taking about the cruise 2 years before the date, I spent many months talking to a new friend of mine before our last cruise and it made it all the more special when we met for the first time on our cruise. Lets all keep up the chat, I feel as though I know you all so well already, as the foreigner of the group,(so to speak, being in the UK) I love to keep in touch as I know I wont be able to meet up with you at any of your meetings before the cruise, so this thread makes me feel very much included.

By the way I dont know if any of you will be taking holidays at WDW next August, but my dd Vicki and I are staying at the Pop Century Resort from the 18th August until the 1st of September 2005. If any of you have plans to be in the area around that time I would love to meet up with you. Let me know.

Speak soon

No, it all started back in February and has pretty much been consistent since then. However, when the kidney stones came along that pain canceled the back/sciatica pain. Now that the kidney stones are gone the back/sciatica pain is back. My MRI showed a small cyst on my spine but the orthopedist and neurosurgeon don't think that's the cause since it is growing outward and not into the spine. I've have had CT mylogram and EMG nerve conduction tests, both of which were "normal." Back in August my orthopedist asked how I felt about acupuncture so I decided to give it a whirl. While the acupuncture helped some, I still don't feel "normal." I have not had the shooting pain or numbness in my leg and foot but I do wake up in the middle of the night feeling as though I'm sitting on a HOT grill!! I cannot sleep on my left side or back :( so I have trouble getting to sleep at night. On top of that, I'm a legal secretary so I sit most of the day. I try to get up and stretch as much as I can but sometimes that's hard to do.

As for Curves, all my doctors have said it's all right to do but I haven't been since the beginning of the kidney stone episode. I decided to give it a rest to see if possibly that might be the cause but since I haven't done anything I'm pretty sure it's not the cause or contributing to it. One thing about Curves is I haven't really dieted but I have lost 10 lbs. since March. The 10 lbs, I have to say, was gained during a 2-week cruise with my Mom in February!!! This is the first time I have ever gained weight on a trip or cruise -- ever!! She took me on a Costa Rica/Panama Canal cruise on the Seabourn Legend. The food was fabulous, thus the weight gain. She's taking me again next September and I told her I definitely need to lose weight before we go!! LOL

DIETING
I came up with a diet plan while I was away this weekend in WDW. Hey, it sounded good anyway!
It is based on the Theory of Three. I can eat anything I want as long as it is in 3's.

3 oz of meat (chicken, beef, fish)
3 cups of vegetables
3 tablespoons of mashed potatos
3 bites of a Snickers Bar (little bites!)

I haven't actually tried it. Maybe it is just so goofy that it might work. I figured I wouldn't feel deprived if I allowed myself at least a taste of my favorite things.

It's amazing what a little stress and sleep deprivation can do for the creative flow! LOL

I'm really getting upset with mom, how she plays favorites. I do understand that you are the one always there for her, because you live close, but Lyn and I do think of her constantly.

As for curves, I am ROTFL at what Lyn said, You can lose if you go LOL I am a member, but after the cruise I went for a week and then had a problem with my foot and I just went back yesterday. It is amazing how after one day you just feel your muscles stretched and it feels good.

Sue...I usually do go to Florida in August as that is when we have our timeshare BUT this year we switched it for April, maybe I'll go west and visit Lisa. I would LOVE to go to CA. in the summer.

But my friend Carol is spending my money and wants me to cruise, so we will see if the price is right.

Joanna

Hey Folks......Add me to the list.... I'm going on the cruise also! pirate:

So is anyone packed yet!!!  :hyper:   lol

See you there!!

Travis

Ooo sorry...I forgot to tell you who is going!! lol

It's me....mostyn17, Girlfriend, Mom, and Dad.

Well I guess I spoke too soon about Matt, he had to be admitted to the hospital this afternoon. Something went wrong yesterday with the Lithotripsy and either they missed the stone or another one came out of the Kidney. Either way his kidney is now obstructed by a big stone and the pain was unbearable for him. He might be 17 but he still needed his mom today. They gave him several shots to get rid of the pain but nothing is working. They now have him almost sedated and he is able to bear the pain.

They wouldn't let me stay at the hospital with him tonight the nurse said he is too old for that. I left his cell phone and told him to call me if he needs me and I'll be right there. The hospital parking lot is in my backyard. Let them try and keep me out.

Anyway we won't know the doctors next move until tomorrow. So I'll keep everyone posted.

Please keep Matt in your prayers.

Lyn

Welcome Travis! Mary Rose AKA Carmen Verandah (our list keeper) is in WDW this week (the nerve on her) so she said to tell any newcomers she will add them to the "list" when she gets back.

OMG Lyn...Please keep us informed. Has this ever happened to him before? We send all our best wishes to Matt, this is just terrible.

Joanna

Lyn,

We will surely keep Matt in our prayers and thoughts. Keep us updated, when you are able, on his condition.

Now we we get Stan out of the hospital... Matt thinks he can take his place. NO WAY>. tell him Jaclyn will be furious.... But most of all give him our best.. and I truly hopes he gets home soon..

Lynn, when he does get home, take the time and go visit Karen for a few days.. you sound like you need a break and after the day I gave KAREN,, I think she needs a friend as well..lol ( LOVE YA KAREN),,lol

Travis and family.. welcome to our family of cruisers... we are a crazy and caring bunch . Don't be shy,, and jump right in with a topic..

Joanna, Sue is my sister ( mom told me she gave you up a long time ago, you cost her too much money):teeth:

Thanks for the well wishes for me,, I have yet another antibiotic... pnumonia left lower lobe,, and thats the side I have the injections on for my back injury. OOCCHHH..

Doreen

COME ON, PEOPLE! We ONLY have 93 weeks left till our cruise, and we can't have anyone being sick!!!!!!!!!!! :teeth:

Lyn: I am so sorry to hear that Matt is in the hospital. The poor kid, I can't imagine the pain he's in. John has had kidney stones, and you can just tell how painful it is :( :( Please give Matt a hug and tell him that we are all thinking about him, and hoping he's better soon. You take care of yourself, too. I know how stressful it is when your child is sick. The year that Craig was in the hospital because of his asthma and pneumonia, I wore myself down and almost ended up in the hospital myself (I ended up with bronchitis and pneumonia, too).

Diane: Hang in there, with school!! :teacher: And please say Hi to Mickey for me!! :sunny:

TootyJane: I hope you are feeling all better soon. What procedure did you have last week? Something to do with your back? My mother had sciatica problems, I know it was very painful at times :( Feel better soon!! ::yes::

Darlene: I like your idea for a diet. :teeth: It's very well-balanced! ::yes::

Travis & family: WELCOME TO OUR THREAD!!! Looking forward to meeting you!! :sunny:

Doreen: Hey, you've been sick long enough, Missy. It's about time you got better! I had pneumonia in the same spot; lower left. I hope you're all better soon!!! So what's up with Karen?? What did you do to her?? LOL

P.S. The main page of my web site is still not back up all the way....I just don't have the patience right now. I hate computers (believe it or not) and I rarely have the patience for my web page. I was excited to add the cruise pictures when we first got back, but now, I'm really going to have to force myself to re-do it all. You can't believe how bummed/annoyed I am about this. It was bad enough writing that main page once, let alone doing it again. :sad2:

Good Morning Everyone!!!

All who are under the weather I hope you start feeling better!!!

Talk to you later!!!!

Hey gang! Sorry that I've been out of the loop, it's been a totally crazy week.

Joanna - If you're inclined to come out to California this summer, might I suggest the last week of July. Devin and I will be meeting up with Lucy (lwilliams) and her crew at Disneyland before they hit the Magic for a west coast cruise.

Lisa - Maybe your bunch can come up and join us too. After all, the more the merrier. We can make it a mini-meet! Also, I'm sorry to hear about the back problems! I have problems further up my back (just below the shoulder blades where the nerves for the stomach branch out) and have dealt with chiropractors and massage therapists for years. Fortunately, one of my best friends is a massage therapist. She keeps me going!

Lyn - I'm sorry to hear about Matt. I know that there is nothing worse than seeing your "baby" in pain and not being able to do anything about it.

Darlene - I'm glad to hear that Stan is home. Here's hoping that the drain can come out soon! I'm glad that you and Sandy had some "girl's time". I know that you probably needed the break.

Karen - Awww! Come on! You don't really want to get rid of Doreen, do you? Just think how boring your life would be without her!

Doreen - Okay, enough of the "illness marathon"! We need you to be strong and healthy. After all, we need your knowledge and skill in the 'quest for outlets'! LOL

Terry - I'm afraid that I have only one word for you... "backups". (I'm sorry to hear that you lost your web-page. Being in the IT industry, I know how frustrating it can be to lose something that you spent hours creating.)

Travis - WELCOME! I hope that you're ready for this crazy bunch! We love to have a good time and our philosophy is... "the more the merrier!"

Now for an update on my life...

The decorations for Halloween turned out great. I got alot of compliments on how it turned out. I finally got the last of it taken down yesterday.

Devin has been a trial this week. He had a 'meltdown' over a homework assignment on Wednesday night (not unusual, especially if he's tired). However, once I got him calmed down, it only took him another half hour to finish. Then yesterday he got two tardies in the same day. This takes his total for the quarter to four. So, now he has detention after school next Monday and Saturday School next Saturday. The funny thing is, he was more concerned about how his father and I would react, then about the punishment itself.

I don't know who's having a harder time with the transition to Junior High... him or me. It's so frustrating for me, because he's an extremely bright kid (been in the gifted program since first grade), but he is SO absent-minded and scatterbrained. (He got the tardies because he couldn't keep track of what day of the week it was. He wanted it to be Friday so badly that he was acting as if it was.) Sometimes I want a magic wand that I can wave over his head and give him the organizational skills that he seems to lack. We've been trying to teach him some over the last three or four years, but it's been an uphill battle.

I'm really looking forward to Sunday this week. I am going to be taking Devin over to Seattle for the day. We are going to see an off-Broadway rendition of "Little Shop of Horrors". That's one musical I haven't seen yet and one that I think Devin will enjoy. Afterward, we'll probably hit The Spagetti Factory for dinner before we take the ferry home. (We live on a pennensula about 20 mile west of Seattle, as the crow files. The ferry from Bremerton to Seattle takes about 55 minutes. It takes about the same amount of time to 'drive around'.)

This means that Devin has to get all of his stuff (homework and chores) done on Saturday. Wish me luck (and patience) in that regard.

Have a great weekend! Here's some good vibes for all you folks feeling under the weather.

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Dori :wave2:

WoW Dori,,, sounds like my son,, he had a partial meltdown at 910pm Wednesday about a school project that he was in charge for and he " CREW" did not do the work. I told him he was "FIRED" sad to say these kids were on line and I told them to call my house and we 3wayed to 4 kids at 915 and got it done.. other wise Daniel basically did the whole project alone and they got credit for it... He had to go to BAND and left some one else in charge,, thus the referal to " THE DONALD...."

As far as KAREN,, she would never sell me or get rid of me ,, no one else would deal with her phone calls all day:teeth: Now as far as the UGG boots... hmm I do have 2 pairs in my closet..

Yes, I do hear the ice crushing, but its not the blender,, its the HAIL... we lost power twice yesterday . The last time was at 430 Am, so I got up like a good mom, and took a shower by candle light to get ready to take the kids to my dads so they can use the blow dryer and have heat... BRRRR it was cold. The hail hurt too... Power came on at 640am.

Terry sorry about your pics... we did enjoy the pages if that is an concellation to your hard work.

Totty Jane, I had Cervical 4-5 fused,, and still have more complications. Now I am dealing with neuropathy of both legs. One leg was done last December the left one is aching so bad.... Dr just called... see him on Monday.... Take me out back and shooot me ,, right Karen????:smooth:

Stand by for more updates::yes::
Doreen

Terry: Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'll take any I can get! oops and I almost forget to say sorry about your web page. That stinks!

Lyn: Sorry to hear about your son. I hope all is well soon.

Darlene: I hope Stan gets well also.

Get well to all who are sick!

Dori: Glad your decorations turned out well & here's wishing you all the patience you need. I have to deal with middle school next year for my shy little DD and I am not looking forward to it. I hope she comes out of her shell.

Travis: Welcome!

93 weeks! Wow time is just flying by but I can't wait till that says 93 days!
