This is so funny. So many people turn on the TV or get their news from a newspaper.

I of course have to check in with our on Disney Cruise News Anchor to read the latest. :rotfl2:

Thanks Terry :thumbsup2

Hi Jeff:

I'm glad it brought you a chuckle this morning. :teeth:

On this very somber anniversary, I think it's a good thing to still try and smile and think of the positive things in life, which include all of us here on our thread, and the fun times we shared, and will hopefully again share, on our Disney cruises. :grouphug: :boat:

We had a young man by the name of Nick, age 21, from our town that graduated from the same high achool that Hazel and I did, and the same high school that Angelina is now attending, perish in the South Tower on 9-11. He had only been working there about two months when the towers were attacked. Hazel, Angelina and I attended his Memorial Mass where more than a thousand people had shown up to support his family that day. I still feel very somber whenever I read his parents water meter, I usually will say a short prayer for the family while I am entering the yard.

Like most Americans, my heart is feeling very heavy today. :grouphug:

Indeed. :(

I personally know people here near Boston who had family members on the PLANES, and being from New Jersey, I also know people who had family members in the towers. :(

Jeff that was well put.. we usually do look here to find the latest news or see how we are all doing.. We are right on top of the local and national news.. See what I mean by what a great group of people we are.. We dont need the nastiness that is surrounding our world today.. Perhaps its just to escape for a few moments.. but at least we know we can find a KIND WORD right around the next page.. That is what makes OUR THREAD the best thread...

I have done other cruises.. I know the other peoples names I had dinner with ... but not like I know all of you.. DIS people really are special.. and espcially today when so many of us are touched on this 911 anniversary.. we are one big family.. No hatred is FELT on here and hopefully never will and never SHOULD....AMERICA is a wonderful country.. and I am proud to be part of her..

OK I am actually thinking of doing a DCL cruise in 2008. I booked the Wonder last night for February (see my countdown) I am doing Sea & Land, because when they finally throw me off the ship at 9 AM I know my vacation isn't over and being the cruise is so short I need to do it that way.

Please post ASAP on here when the rates come out

What is the Raddison at the train station? Is that a hotel? If so, No, we are staying at the Chateau Resort right where the conference is being held.

Hi Everyone!

Today is a really sad day indeed. I find myself welling up all day today. Like Terry, I can't watch any of the coverage either. This morning when I drove DS John to the school bus the local radio station I always listen to automatically came on and was playing the most heart-wrenching 9/11 song about kissing a hero. I immediately started crying (like I'm doing now). When we got to the bus stop my suddenly-very-grown-up-thirteen-year-old-son says to me "Bye Ma, and do me a favor, don't listen to the radio if it's going to make you upset. Turn it off and say a pray instead" I took his sage advice. Some of us just can't listen or watch any of it. Five years ago, when I was a stay-at-home Mom, I darn near needed an intervenion to get me away from the media coverage of 9/11! I don't know if I ever mentioned that at different times John and I worked at the WTC. I worked in the mid 90's in 1 WTC on the 89th Floor and from 1992 - 1998 John worked in 2 WTC on the 63rd Fl. I hated being up so high, John loved it! In fact, our DS John was born 2/19/93 and DH John was on his last day of "paternity leave" when the WTC was attacked on 2/26/93. It was only because we decided to have scheduled C-section 10 days early that DH John missed that tragedy. Anyway, I'm rambling now........Prayers to the victims, their families, our Servicemen and woman, Firefighter, Police Officers, EMTS, all of the Volunteers and all citizens of OUR GREAT COUNTRY!

On 9-11-01, our receptionist was late to work, so I was asked to sit at the desk until he showed up. One of our union stewards got a call from the chief steward in our NYC office and came out saying a plane just crashed into the WTC. We of course were stunned, and were first told it was a weather/news plane. Of course we turned on the radios and listened intently. I called my son's school and was reassured that all students were safe and in lockdown. Nobody felt like working, but the show must go on, and eventually our Corp HQ decided to close and because our office park houses a communications center and we are one of the tallest bldgs near the airport, we were let out and told to not return to the office park until we were notified.

I came home and sat glued to the TV, stunned, shocked, and so sad. My friend's husband is Air Force and was deployed immediately. She was a basket case and it did me good to help her care for her 2 young sons.

May God be with all the families who were devastated, not only those who lost loved ones, but I think all of us.

And thank you God for the great country we live in. In the words of Lee Greenwood, "God Bless the USA"

In 1978, I visited my friend who lives on Staten Island during the Christmas Holidays. We went into the city and went to Windows on the World. I was awestruck by the beauty, and will always remember how lucky I was to have had the pleasure of being there.

Good morning again everyone :surfweb:

Boy, I'm tired this morning! I'm sipping a cup of French Vanilla coffee right now in the hopes that it helps wake me up a bit.

I keep bumping up the cruise meets thread for my February 4th Wonder cruise but not many people are posting on it. A guy named billinaz started the thread, he's doing a b2b Wonder cruise, and he's the one who'll be in a mid-ship Cat 3 and offered to let us see it. :3dglasses As nice as I'm sure it is, I think that connecting Cat 6 cabins will be more in our price range.

I'm still half asleep and I can't think of anything else to write.. (unless you want to hear all about my plans for the day which include work, going to the post office, going to the bank, taking Robby for a hair cut, dinner, meeting tonight, etc. :lmao: )

Have a great day everyone! :sunny:

I sat at work yesterday (where I can only read, not post anything!) and read thru the posts that worked up to Sept 11 really helped me get thru yesterday. Everyone on this board is so friendly and thinks nothing of reaching out to others - that affirmation in others is such a gift that all of you give.
All of us knew so many people who either lost their lives or of a friend/family member who lost someone at the Towers or at the pentagon. If there is any good that came out of such an awful tragedy it was seeing how this whole nation pulled together, if only for a short time. I remember staring in shock at the lines of New Yorkers cheering, waving flags and throwing out "God Bless America" as police cars, firetrucks and military convoys drove down in lower Manhattan. I have chills just thinking about it.
I don't think I'll ever get that smell from there out of mind, or the ash, or the burning. I think what made the biggest impression were the posters of the missing in the Armory and later, at the pier. Walls and walls of photos and none appeared twice. I can't even count the number of times I hugged my kids yesterday and prayed for those children who can no longer feel the hugs of a parent.
But when I felt like I was tearing up I looked back at all the reaching-out this group has done. And I smiled.

Hi Everyone!

Hi Mary Rose and everyone else :wave2:

Page 2?!? Oh no!! :faint:

I had a pretty nice Tuesday... uneventful, but nice. :) Went to work...ran a few errands...took Robby for a haircut... made dinner... went to our bible study meeting... Oh wait...I've already mentioned all of this today haven't I?? LOL Ok, this is bad because now I'm repeating myself! :rotfl:

John just called from Portland. It's only 7pm out there and he just got back from dinner. Some of the "higher-ups" took him out to dinner tonight after work. Tomorrow he flies to Toronto.

I can't wait for the 2008 dates and rates to come out!! :goodvibes Then we'll have more cruise-related things to talk about. If the thread is this quiet now, how will we make it through the next 2 years??? :hourglass LOL

I hope everyone is ok, you can hear a pin drop on this thread!! :listen:

Good Morning Everyone!!

We can't be on page two!! It's not like us to be so quiet!

Did anyone see
Dancing With The Stars Last Night??

Have a good day to everyone!!!!!

Karen

Good Morning ALL! Since I am booked on the Wonder in February and am thinking of DCL in 2008, I feel a connection again. LOL

Oh Boy, am either thinking of the Pop Century All Star, Animal Kingdom Lodge or Contemporary or Caribbean beach resort for my land part. I want the most 15 & 11 year old friendly (pools, game rooms, etc) Any suggestions?

I'm all EARS (Pun intended)

Good morning everyone :surfweb: <--- this is literally what I look like this morning. I just made a cup of French Vanilla coffee in the hopes that the caffeine wakes me up a bit. I'm really tired this morning (I don't sleep very well when John is away on business trips), and my throat is hurting. The entire Customer Service department at work is sick with an upper respiratory infection and we've been trying to keep it from spreading to our department. I really just want to go back to bed.

Anyway.

Karen: I TIVOed "Dancing with the Stars" last night but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. :dance3: I've never watched it before except for the last few shows last season. I also saw one episode of the first season; I remember seeing J. Peterman dancing :smooth:

Does anyone here watch "Survivor" or "Lost"?? John and I watch both of those. We TIVO them, and then watch when we get a chance. :happytv:

Joanna: Not sure what to recommend regarding those resorts. We've stayed at AKL and I LOVE that resort. It's beautiful and I felt so relaxed and comfortable there. I don't care for the Contemporary but I hear it has an excellent arcade and it has large rooms which I know it a plus with a family of 4. We've stayed at Caribbean Beach Resort and loved that resort, but I'm not sure it offers a real lot for teens. I've never stayed at Pop Century or any of the All Stars.

Having said all that, and not knowing what kinds of interests your DDs have, if I had to choose, I'd pick either the AKL or the Contemporary. They offer more to do. I know you'll have a great time whichever resort you stay at though :sunny:

I would have to agree with Terry about AKL. Our favorite is WL, but AKL is really nice and they have the rooms that look over the savannah.

We have stayed at the Caribbean Beach (Missy's choice since she likes to save money) and Pop Century. Pop Century was neat to look at - some photos of our WDW 2005 trip - but you can't beat the amenities of the deluxe resorts.

No comment on the Contemporary; we never stayed there.

We stayed at the all star movies last year for 2 night, we didn't like it at all, you HAD to take your car or the buses everywhere, and the wait was long. The rooms themselves weren't to bad, we stayed 2 nights and asked for an upgrade and they gave us 6 nights at the Polynesian, that was great!
