My goodness you've all been so busy! Miss a little, miss alot!

 Welcome Mia & thanks for the heads up. I tend to be queasy, so I take one Bonine each morning on the boat and one each evening, and it's worked for me. Of course, I have to do the same if we're visiting the parks and want to do the roller coasters.

:thumbsup2 I'm a member of that Irish club (grandparents were Keating, O'Keefe, Donohue, and Linehan) but I married a Scotch-English mix.

Darlene -- a 7 night cruise with a carryon? You're either a packing genius or completely crazy!

Night all!

But I always forget to factor in the cost of the pet sitting when budgeting for vacation.

I forget too. Now that I am up at the ungodly hour of 4am because of one of my dogs and her delicate system :sad2: , I realize I could never torture a pet sitter like this. It's the kennel for them!

Welcome Mia! This is my first cruise, and I have been advised to get the wrist thing. Thanks for the heads up about the gulf. Cannot wait, Counting, counting, counting down the days. I have a big calendar on my desk and everyone knows when I will be gone. My boss is already in a tizzy, worrying about who will do my work, then she said it will be there when I return, but I have a newbie, and I will show him the ropes. Have a great day all.

Someone once told me that Cruise Ship food has no calories! :rotfl: I sure hope this is true because I have to weigh in at WW 3 days after my return. :guilty: Well, I will be the one walking the decks after eating. See you all in 22 days. Hope everyone has a great day! :goodvibes :wave2:

Yea, I heard that too, but except for our cruise this past May(sore throat, trouble eating), I've always managed to come home a few pounds heavier after each cruise, what's the deal with that??? :lmao:

We have a family friend staying with our German Shepherd at our house while we are gone this time. There is a wonderful "day camp" in our area that we take her to when we go to the beach. It is very expensive of course but well worth the peace of mind. Since we will be gone this time for two weeks, it would have cost us about $600 to board her. Instead, we are going to pay our family friend to come stay with her. I am so glad she won't have the stress of being at a kennel and I won't have the stress of seeing the bill! :thumbsup2

Mia, thanks so much for the heads up about the first night's travel! My eight year old got a bit seasick on the last night of our 04 cruise and I am wondering if it was because we had to cross the same gulf stream to get to port canaveral to disembark that next morning. Anyway, I will make sure he has his seabands and maybe some Benedryll too!

:surfweb: This is me right now! I am also keeping an eye out for that brown truck!!

Hello from work:

Welcome to Molly and family. :welcome:

Mia: Thanks for the advice. We hit rough Atlantic Ocean seas on our Bermuda cruise, so I'm always careful to avoid getting seasick in the first place. :crazy2:

I always start taking Bonine (meclazine is the generic I take) the day before the cruise, and then each morning thereafter. My DH and DSs (ages 18 and 15) take it each morning too. I've heard that it's much easier to prevent seasickness than to try and treat it once it hits. Our doctor and pediatrician have said the same thing. It doesn't make us drowsy at all, and we (DH and I) do drink alcohol during the day while taking it, and it hasn't effected us in a negative way at all.

Work is going very well but I've been very busy this week learning some new things that I'll need to do next week and the week after while Maggie (the lady I work with in our department) is on vacation. It's a lot to learn in a short period of time, but I'm finally getting the hang of it. Basically it's the many, many steps involved once an account gets closed, and the handling of automobile titles, contracts, etc, and each account may have variables which would make it have to be handled differently than the rest. So..it's these little nuances and variables that I'm still learning to "read" in our programming systems. :surfweb:

Anyway... lol YAY for vacation being only a few weeks away! LOL :woohoo:  I am REALLY going to enjoy and appreciate this vacation like none I've ever taken before. :lmao:

Boy am i sure glad that i only have CATS!!!! ::yes::

With regards to seasickness, funny thing is that the more rocking the boat is, the more i like it!!! LOL!!! I love the feeling of the rocking!!! but not so for my DH!! LOL!!

When we cruised the high seas one day on my 2nd disney cruise back in 2001, the waters in the adult pool were like waves and at that time we were allowed to swim in it and boy did i have fun!!!! WEEEEEEEEE!!! but now they put a net over it on those days!! BUMMER!! :sad2:

One more thing to add to the list.
Thanks

We have taken Bonine with us on each cruise, but have yet to open the package, I hope our luck continues to hold out on this cruise as well.

Just arrived home from seeing the work doc. He has discharged me, no more visits to his office are needed!!!!! :yay:

Three weeks from tomorrow we board our flight to Florida!!!!! :woohoo:

We have two adorably bad dogs. Charlie is a 13 year old spaniel mutt. He's beautiful, stupid, and a tremendous mooch. Holly is an 11 year old terrier mutt. She's scruffily cute, is too smart for her own good, and would rather snatch than beg. They're kind of a backwards version of Lady & the Tramp. We have a small cadre of family sitters when we go away. My sister actually loves to sit when we go for a longer vacation because she rents and cannot have a dog of her own. However, she's moving to Toledo and starting a new job so she's unavailable this time around. Eight days is a little too long for our other sitters, so they are going to go to "camp" this time. Our vet has a great kennel facility and they get fussed over and spoiled. And, since they are both senior pets, we like the fact that the vet is there "just in case".
:dog: :dog2:
Love those dogs!
Lori

We have a cockerpoo that we usually board at the vet's since they have a kennel. When we went to Disney at the end of June for a week, we came back & she was lethargic, she had lost weight, and she kept running outside to do her business all afternoon as if she had been holding it for days. I really don't want to send her back there for our 2 week vacation at the end of August, because I honestly don't think she eats the entire time she's there. She's a very nervous & neurotic dog. The least little noise has her shaking under the coffee table. I did ask one of the neighbors if she could take her while we're gone, but then I feel so guilty that I'm putting them on the spot. :confused3

Now I feel challenged! I am going to have to try and do it. Catch up with me onboard and I'll let you know if I am CRAZY or GENIUS.

Me too!! :cat: In fact, this (having to worry about boarding and/or getting a pet sitter) is one of the reasons why we'll never get a dog. We travel and go away too often to have a dog. It'd be a pain for us, and not fair to the dog, either. With the cat, if it's just a weekend or long weekend, we leave him "home alone". He has a Litter Maid litter box that self-cleans, and we leave a water fountain for him filled with enough water for a week, and we leave more food than he'd eat in a week. He only eats Iams dry cat food, so there's no need to have anyone come over to open up cans of food, or clean up after him.

If we go away for 4-5 days or more, then my FIL comes over and takes care of him. We do the same for FIL's cat when he and MIL go away.
