I was just trying to get that $159.00 special for 2 bedroom at HHI. I could not get IT or anything else :sad2: It was kind of a last minute thought. My dd has off the last week of April. My husband can't really take off then, so I asked my girlfriend if she might go with me and dd with her and her 2 ds's. My husband is not real keen on the idea, but said if I wanted to I could, as long as it was not WDW! Have any of you ladies gone with friends and kids with no husbands far rom home on a a vacation? May be I'm crazy to think this would be fun. :rolleyes1

I go away all the time with just my DD or with my sister and her 2 DS. Last April DD and I flew down and spent Spring Break in Vero Beach. We had a great time.

I look at it this way - if I wait for DH I'd still be sitting on the couch. And I can travel CHEAPER without him. That doesn't sound good, does it? But really, I can keep dining costs down and DD and I are happy to sit by the pool or on the beach without expensive entertainment.

It makes my mom nervous but I am used to traveling without a man. I was a single mom with 3 boys for many years.

I've been to HHI and it is a great place to relax with kids.

Heather,

I am getting a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5 S

Plenty of room for the three of us. I had an Taurus that got totaled in 2001,
Since then driving a Focus, but I miss my larger car.

I may be picking it up tonight. Just waiting to hear back from the dealer.

Still raining hard in CT, but at least its not snow.

Sue, I hope you are feeling better. Not a good way to start some time off.

You didn't miss anything! I don't think I really talked about my ankle because I'm starting to feel like such a LOSER. I'm trying to concentrate on HAPPY THOUGHTS. I messed up some ligaments in my ankle when I tried to walk and talk at the same time. LOL It was dark in Wash DC and I missed a curb and badly turned my already disabled ankle (prior bad break).

Stan is doing well, just tired. He had his week off treatment last Wed and goes for his fourth this Wed. His blood count is good and he looks good. Good color in his face. I'm trying not to schedule evening activities so he can rest when he gets home from work.

He sure looked handsome yesterday in his suit! I changed into a jogging suit the minute I got home from church. And NO, I don't jog.

How's Matt? At least you don't have anymore snow to worry about when he is driving. At least I hope not. You must be getting so excited for your older son's visit!

Stay dry today :umbrella: ,
Darlene

Darlene: No need to feel like a loser. I did the very same thing in Disneyworld coming out of the Country Bear Jamboree. It was dark and I didn't see the end of the porch and feel right off. Luckily I only cut up my knees and hurt my pride other than that I was fine. Hopefully it is nothing serious with your ankle, maybe you just need some PT.

I am glad to hear that Stan is doing well. I know sometimes chemo wipes you out. What happens when you go on the repo cruise? Does he just skip those treatments?

Matt is doing well, he can't wait to graduate and has basically stopped all school work. He thinks he can just coast to the finishline I guess.

You are right I can't wait to see my DS. Everytime he comes home I try to persuade him to move back, but no such luck.

Where is the :sunny: I can't stand this rain and gloomy skies anymore.

To all who are feeling ill and suffering from injuries here is a :grouphug:

I made it through the day!!! It wasn't a lot of fun out there today, but at least my banging headache went away, and I am able to eat food once again. Having some scrambled eggs and toast for dinner, trying to keep my meals light today.

We got Group B on our return flight Sunday and were able to sit together in row 16. We arrived at MCO at 12 noon for our "scheduled" 3pm departure. The plane had a mechanical problem which delayed our leaving Orlando by more than an hour, then we had the bumpiest flight ever finally arriving in Philly around 6:30pm. Hazel even spilled her soda all down the front of her, because as she was getting ready to take a sip, we hit some very bad turbulance. I think what we were going through yesterday, is the storm we are having here today.

Ed--congrats on the new car!!!

Dinner is ready, will chat later with y'all!!! :wave2:

Andy - Do I take it you will not fly Southwest again? :rotfl2: Glad you are feeling better and out of the rain.

Darlene - Thank you! I was just wondering. You said VERO :earseek: . I don't think dh would let me drive that far! Boy, I would love to go there though.....maybe if I present it in the right way......NO...that would definately be a big fat no from him. oh well :sad2:

Ed - My husband had a Taurus...I think it was a 99. At one point our local Jiffy Lube said they would not do an oil change on his car. Something about a faulty oil thing. Any way, good luck on your new car!

Andy - Do I take it you will not fly Southwest again?

I never say never, but Southwest will not be my first choice of airlines to fly with, that's for sure.

Haven't checked into this thread for several months, so thought it was time I do so again!!! We're sailing on the Eastbound Repo, and I can barely keep up with that thread (what am I saying? I'm no where near close to keeping up with that thread!!!) I figure I won't be able to keep up with this thread till AFTER the Repo... I know there are a number of us who are sailing 8/20/05 AND 8/19/06...
We had an exciting week-end here in California.....by baby's adoption was FINAL on Friday and we had a BIG party on Saturday. That was a lot of waiting, hoping, planning, etc. and it feels VERY good to have it over and done with. My family is.....Me, Jennifer, single mom.....Chelsea, 14, and Emilie, who turned ONE on Valentine's Day. Have a nice day all.......

We asked the oncologist about the timing of the repo cruise and he said to definately plan on going. They will work out a schedule around it. He spoke very matter-of-factly about it all. I guess I am just still overwhelmed by the whole thing and the doctors and nurses see it all day in and day out. Stan does seem to be doing well but I can't always trust him to tell me things right away. That's how he ended up so sick on OUR cruise.

My DS and his wife are house hunting in FL. He will get out of the Marines in July and that is where they will settle. At least FL is a little closer than your son. It's hard to be so far away, isn't it.

I never did go for the x-ray. I think I caught a little of what Andy has today. Didn't want to stray too far from home, if you know what I mean. That means I have to go first thing in the morning. Fun.

I didn't drive to VERO, we flew into West Palm Beach, I got a really good fare at the time. I have taken many road trips though. HHI would be a pretty good ride for you too. If you have a friend to trade off driving with it makes it easier. And you must have a reliable car. (Haven't always taken that advice myself.) Personally, I always drive. My sister doesn't like to drive if she doesn't have to. The big joke with one of my nephews is "how long will it take us" when he finds out he is going with me. He knows it is going to be HOURS!

Wish I had more vacation time, I would offer to drive you!
Darlene

All this rain is makeing me angry, I had really wanted to go to Great Adventure today to check out the changes to the park. I wonder if this rain will clear out by tis weekend.

Darlene - No, I know YOU did not drive. I would drive though. (i think) We have yet to take my dd on a plane, other than when she was in my belly going to Hawaii. ;) You bring up a good point. We have been driving for all our trips so far and plan to do this for the next two (i think). A) it is expensive to fly B) it is not really that bad for us, my dd is great in the car and C) if we fly once, my dd won't think driving is the only way to FL! :rotfl: Thank you for the offer to drive. Well, if you change your mind I am really lokking to do something that last week of April! Anyway, feel better!!! and good luck. Also, good luck to DS and his wife. Does this mean FL resident discounts are in your future?

Jennifer - Welcome to this crazy group. . Congratulations on your adoption. I am adopted too. Was this an adoption of Emilie or is there going to be a new addition to your family? My cousin & great Aunt live just outside SF and my sister in-law lives outside burbank. My mother in-law is supposed to be moving by her dd this summer. Yeahhh.....Oh did I just say that outloud?

Bobby - I was just noticing how talented you are....maybe we could convice you to do magnetic door signs for all of us?

Haha Magnets...here we go again...Sure I can do them...

All I ask in return is a beer onboard..Last time I think I wound up making everyone at least 4 or 5 magnets.,...One or two were surprises...Let me know...Even lost a printer last time..

Bobby

Hello again everyone

So are you getting another Taurus? Dave & I both drive them

Jennifer--congrats on the adoption of Emilie being finalized!!! We were thinking of you all on Friday and Saturday. My mom said to say hello and she sends her congratulations as well!!!

Darlene--I hope you feel better soon from this creeping crud that is going around!!!

It's been a long day, and I'm signing off for the night. :wave2:

Hello All,

Jennifer - Hello, Congratulations on your adoption.

Hope everyone this is under the weather feels well soon.

Well after a very trying time at the dealership, I have my new car.

Barb, while I like the Taurus, I had one from 1990 - 2001, and was a Ford driver since 1984, I went with the

2005 Nissan Altima 2.5 s,
Sun roof, ABS, fog lamps, and lots of power everything lol.
Guess which car is now going to Fl :rotfl2:
Majestic Blue is the color.

It was time for a change, that and I picked up a used altima last year from my dw, that was an upgrade from a 1993 Ford Escort.

Congrats again Ed on your new car!!!!! :cool1:

Feeling so much better today, I guess I had one of those 24 hour bugs.

Hey All!

Sorry that I've been out of touch, but life has been rather hectic lately. I've already started working at home part of the time (even though I don't have my office set up yet.) Unfortunately, I don't have the bandwidth to keep a window open on the DISboard while I'm working from home - the perils of dial-up. I am planning on going high-speed in the very near future.

I finally got my spare bedroom cleaned up last night. Now, if I can get a day where it isn't absolutely pouring rain, then I can get the old furiture moved out to the barn for storage. I'm hoping to be able to put my new wallpaper border up in the room this coming weekend. (Yes, wallpaper border. If I'm going to be spending 8 hours a day in this room, I'm going to set it up in a way so that I'll enjoy spending my time in there. I'm even planning on putting a 'cat tree' in one corner of the room so my 'shadow' will have an out-of-the-way place to sit and watch me.)

I guess that I'd better go. I have an appointment with the periodontist (for my TMJ) in about 20 minutes. I've got to see about getting another night guard/splint. My current one is cracked on both sides. This is the second one I've totalled in the last 7 years. Keep in mind that these things are hard acrylic plastic, like a retainer. (I grind my teeth so hard at night that I'm surprised I have any teeth left. And it's not just stress, either. I've been grinding my teeth since childhood.)

After the periodonist, I'm heading home to work for the afternoon. Devin sure seems to like having mom around more. (We'll see if it lasts through his teenage years...)

Take care and I'll yak at y'all later!

Dori :umbrella:

Andy,

Thank you, glad your feeling better.

The car came together very quickly, I went looking Saturday, and finalized the deal yesterday and drove it home last night, (late in the pouring rain)

Ah to have a car I can stretch out my leg with the bad knee again feels great.

Now I just have to get used to the feel of the car.

We all should have such problems :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Sad thing I will be paying for this one for five years. :sad2:
