First I tried the # outside USA and Canada.
Im a Canadian citizen living in the Caribbean.
They wouldn't even talk to me! Told me they can send info to a Canadian address but cannot talk to me over the phone.

Then I called the 1-800# to give them my Miami mailing address but then I told them I live in the Caribbean. She again would not even talk to me! She told me to call her when I get back to the States or Canada.

Should I call back and lie? Tell them I am calling from Miami?
The whole point in me doing this is to get the ball rolling early before we go to DW in late May/early June. We'd like to take full advantage of the BCV incentives.

What is your advice? All I want in the information from them!!

Thanks, Jayne

IMHO I'd give them the Miami address!!! You'll still get the paperwork if they send it to you in the Carribean right? Is your mail forwarded to you from Miami?

Thank-you for your reply Chris. Yes my amil gets forwarded to me.
I'm calling them back now..
:smooth:

I think their hands are tied as far as selling to someone where you live....but if you don't tell, they can sell ;) ( I think!) I don't think they were trying to be rude, just trying to cover their butts because the timeshare industry is pretty well regulated.

I called back and the info is in the mail. I did not like lying about my whereabouts though. But at least now we will have all the info we need to make a decision before we get to DW in early June. I'm pretty certain we can't do anything regarding purchases until we go down there.

Now I'm thinking, will they even let us purchase? Will I have to lie and say we live in Canada since I'm Canadian?
I didn't want to ask the nice gentleman on the phone with whom I was talking to.

Do they let non US-Can. residents purchase DVC?

J.

I know that there are lots of members from the UK, and I believe I've seen various European and South American countries as well mentioned as whereabouts on this board. Don't know anything specific about the Carribean.

Others will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't *think* they have any regulation on who can buy it *AT* Disney World, just on who can buy it over the phone. I don't think you'll have any problems if you want to buy when you're there in May.

Don't we have members from all over the world. I remember reading about where DVC members live and it covers a lot of countries..... where did I see that????

DVC can/will sell to anyone while onsite at WDW. They can only offer sales information by mail and over the phone to places where DVC is registered to sell. These are regualtions made by individual states to protect their citizens.

If you live someplace not registered (whether that's in the US or elsewhere) you could have the information sent to an address that is registered. (If you live in NY- it could be sent to an Indiana address and then that person could forward it to you.)

Your Miami address will provide the printed sales materials to get you started. The sale may be completed on your trip to WDW. I'd still contact your agent and see if they will extend the price and any incentives until your upcoming trip.

I know that Doc already confirmed this, but I just asked my guide about your case (had to speak with her about something else) - being a citizen of Canada living in the Carribean, and she assured me that there are absolutely NO restrictions to keep you from buying into DVC when you are *there* at WDW - the restrictions, as Doc says, are *only* on buying from home.

Thank-you for all your help!!
Guess all we can do now is wait for the info to come in the mail,
then go to a DVC desk at DW..

I might add that when I called the first 2X this morning the ladies I spoke to were really nice and I knew they were just doing their job.

Thanks again..
