Called by someone asking me to sell my DVC contracts??

I got a call 2 days ago at home asking if I'd like to sell my DVC contracts at a profit. I was on the other line and didn't have time to talk so I told them I was not interested. Tought I'd get the name and # off of Caller ID, but it was listed as a "private caller."

Anyone else had this happen to them?

Not sure how they knew I owned DVC...guess it's public record from the deeds in FL and CA.

I own at BLT, VGC and SSR. I imagine that they were after the VGC since I don't see any of them for sale online on the secondary market?

Just thought I'd see if anyone else had this happen and if you worked with them.

Your ownership is a matter of public record and that "private caller" notation simply indicates that it was a timeshare sale company that did not want you having its number so you could block it. I get those calls at least once every six months and receive mailers several times a year. I have no desire to sell and even if I did I would not connect with a company calling me out of the blue. Instead i would likely go to one of the known and reliable DVC timeshare brokers like the Timeshare Store.

yes, we get these calls & we don't answer, but they leave messages on machine.

1. No reputable realtor would ever ask for an up-front fee.
2. Advanced fees are a scam 100% of the time. You will send the fee and never hear from them again.

Well said Jim, this is very good advice.

I always keep a book of poetry handy so that when I receive an unsolicited sales call, I will read them one of the poems and then ask the caller to have a discussion with me about it. This keeps me amused and the caller either laughs or hangs up. Win- win.

Probably not. The only profit they're talking about here is likely their own. If they were really interested in something you had (like an uncommon VGC contract), why would they block you from seeing their phone number?

Even if this were not a total scam, and they did list your contract somewhere, these are the companies that are so bad that people here have complained about them not returning calls from interested buyers!! If you're interested in selling, or even seeing what your contracts are worth, subscribe to the email lists of the 3 or 4 big knowledgeable brokers discussed on the DIS.
