Call Waiting Vent! Yelp I am going to Vent!

Call Waiting, alot of us have it. I do and I am careful as to how I use it! I have it for one main reason, My Dr's. I first got it when I was waiting for a call that they had found an organ for me! We ended up keeping it due to the amount of nurse's and Dr's that call here.

If I know I am going to be expecting a call from one of them, I always make the person aware of it when I make or recieve a phone call. I try to be very considerate of the other person on the line. Most know the importance of these calls to me. When the call comes in, I hang up with the person I am on with and take the important call from the Dr's/Nurse's!

I have found lately that whenever people call friends/family and their call waiting goes off, they just say Hold On, then click. What has me mad is that they will leave you on the phone forever, while they have another whole conversation with someone else. Then they come back and tell you who it was and what they discussed! The pass several days, I had this happen to me three times with three different people. I do mind to hold the phone for a minute, but for almost 5! I used to hold the phone, but now I just hang up. Most will not even ask if you mind to hold, they just say hold on!

Anyone else know people who do this?

Oooooh!! I hate this too!!

When I hear the click I tell people to give me a call back when they are done!!

I can understand why you need it but sometimes I wonder why everybody else thinks they do.

My aunt once kept my mom on hold when her call waiting beeped. My mom hung up and called back and my aunt was quite confused when she clicked over, wondering how she got a "third" call.

I hang up all the time when people do this. That being said if my children are out of my house I will pick-up the call waiting if you called me. If I call you I make sure I can talk.

If I am on the phone, I will only answer call waiting if it is one of my sons or DH. I will tell who I am talking to that it is my son or husband and I will be right back. If it is not an emergency, I will call back my son or DH and apologize to the person I was originally talking with. I have call waiting in case my kids need to get in touch.

I have CW as well, with caller id that shows who the call is from. The only time I will answer is if it is DDs school, or if I am waiting for a call from someone.

Unless I am waiting for my mother to call (long distance) for some reason, I don't even answer it for her!

My sister has a bad habit of trying ALL my phone lines - which annoys me - she'll call my cell phone, my home line and my business line...... people know I work at home, and SHOULD be able to answer their call!

With all this technology we are sometimes TOO ACCESSIBLE!

I loathe it. My DD called her grandma the other night, anyway I guess she was talking to my BIL, the one who is in his 40's, still lives at home, doesn't work...anyway, he put the DD on hold, I was unaware of this, but she probably was on hold for about 30 minutes, until I was aware of it.

We got rid of call waiting a couple of years ago.

my sister called this week and said she had been trying to get a hold of me and why didn't I have call waiting. I explained to her that she was only the 2nd person in 2 years to ask--and prior to that it went unused.

I don't know how we got lucky--but noone calls us while we are on the phone.

I too do not like when they have long conversations.

I work an inbound call center from home. What I do not like is when someone will say they have a call and to hold on--and click they are gone before I can say anything. I have 30 second time limit for holds and it is irritating that they do this and I don't have the chance to tell them that. Irritating. You can wait 2 minutes to place an order--either you want the item or you need to take the call. CAll me back if you need to take the call..but don't tell me to hold on!

I think it's funny...people seem to think that because the technology is available, it isn't rude to abuse it! If they are expecting an important call, sure, but usually they just see who it is and then chat as though the 1st person has nothing to do but wait on them to get done. Nope, I hang up.

The technology too easily allows people to be rude especially in regards to cell phones. If it isn't people keeping you on hold for call waiting its the people talking so loud on those dang cell phones that everyone in a one block radius can hear the conversation.
