It has been a while since I have posted but found myself thinking about another Disney Trip...which brought me back to the boards. In another thread so many people had negative things to say about this upcoming value resort that I had to go look at the pictures linked from the original post.

Am I the only one who really thinks it's cool? O.k. I was born in the 60's and they may have something to do with it?

I realize by looking at the pix that it kind of screams at you, but heck when I am in Disney I look for the unusual. In February 2001 I stayed at ASMO ... my only on site visit. When I saw the pix on the site I wasn't too impressed with the looks of it. However when I got there and saw it just excited me. Who ever thought that I could stand in front of Andy's room and say wow?

I had to laugh at some of the pictures of Pop Century and just to think of some of the sayings that were written ... well kind of took me back to growing up. Oh and the Brady Bunch flowers and huge Yo Yo's were neat to me.

O.K. we heard all the negatives no need to repeat them, but anybody else looking forward to this resort?

Pigletproud **Who is having groovey thoughts at the moment!

I think Pop Century is cool too. I was born in the 1970 and think it would be fun to walk around and see all the stuff that was around when I was a kid. Ds was born in 1995 and really wants to see the 90's buildings with the cell phone and computer. He's a high-tech nut.

Oh, BTW could someone post the link to those pictures. I did a search for Pop Century a couple weeks ago, but didn't really find many photos.

Zandy I had a hard time using search when I put in the two words pop century. Try your search by just using Century. I just tried to find it but it seems like the search engine is diabled right now for some reason?

Glad you had a good opinion too. I was a bit worried about all the negative comments? I had to check it out b/c I kept thinking "how bad can it be"?

Gee, glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't hate Pop Century. I was there for the 60's & 70's so I can't wait to see all the icons.

Count me in too. ;) I am hoping it opens by Feb. of Next year so I can make ressies!:o (I had ressies last year, but they were cancelled due to them not opening on time.):(

O.k. - you're crazy!

There, I said it.

I don't mind all of the icons but I hate the sayings they have on the building. As we drove past, I looked out the passenger's window saying, "No No No, maybe it's not too late to take them down"

Big ole icons of big wheels sound cool, but looking at phrases such as "Dude, Huh, Duh" etc annoy me.

I was also looking to stay here.

Wish we could see it done:):Pinkbounc

I can't wait to stay there...I'm a BIG Roger Rabbitt fan and I think the resort looks sooooooo cool. Even the Jungle Book theme looks wild!!!!

I hear it might be opening between Mar-May 2003, keeping fingers crossed :)

Okay I must admit I was one of those folks really grossed out by the resort when I saw the first pics of the buildings with all the words across the tops.... however after looking at the pictures from the wdwmagic.com site.... I'm intrigued!!

The Jungle Book section looks really cute! I love Baloo! Also all the 60s flower carpet. I am going to wait to render my final opinion on the resort until I see more pictures of the COMPLETED Pop Century!

I realize that PopC won't be for everyone... but hey a lot of folks don't like the All Stars either. However, I am huge ASMO fan so at this point I may consider giving PopC a try.

I think some people might like it for the same reason we like the All Stars... it's just a really fun place to stay!

If anyone has anymore links to pics of PopC can you please, please post them here?

Thanks!

I drive past this resort on a regular basis and have enjoyed watching the progress (albeit slow) of the construction. It is fun to see what next will be added! I think the place just looks like one huge, sprawling fun factory! It's loud, it's kitschy, it may even be campy, but it's fun! Looking forward to a tour when it finally opens!

I really love it. I wanted to take my rgandfather there. As we are a big monoploy family and thought it would be cool to play life size monoploy.

My husband & myself are big fans of the All Star Movies Resort. We are actually staying at the Polynesian this December due to the CBR closure, but that's a different story.

When we first heard about Pop Century (and saw drawings of it) we thought it looked pretty lame. Now that I've seen some of the actual construction, it looks pretty cool! I Love the huge Baloo, Mickey Mouse, Roger Rabbit & Mr. Potato Head! We will definitely have to check this out next year - hopefully it opens soon!

I'm not sure when they are due to open. We drove by a couple of times last week. They are working on all of the landscaping and the entrance sign. The HUGH food/check in area is there now, along with many of the sections nearing completion. I think it's neat looking. I will probably give them a shot. They are building a road along side of the CBR too (looks ugly) and am assuming that is going to PC. With many of the resorts at full capacity for this fall, you would think they would get going on the completion of this resort.

To those that drive by the construction site... quick question: Can you tell if they are working on the other part of the resort? The section called the "Legendary" years? (I believe that's the section that is supposed to have the years 1900s-1940s.)

Does anyone know if they are planning to have both sections (Classic=50s-90s & Legendary=00s-40s) both done in 2003? I know they had originally staggered the opening of each era and all but was thinking in the long delay on opening any of the resort if all of it would be done by 2003? Just wondering because it looks like the 50s-90s looks pretty much done now and didn't know why they would wait until 2003 to start trying to fill it up.

I agree with the poster that said it looks like one big Fun Factory! We love the atmosphere at the ASMO so I'm sure we'll like PopC as well. Sure it's not going to be for everyone but it looks like something our family is going enjoy! :)

Thanks guys for posting the links to the pix. I couldn't find it.
I'm hoping it will be ready in early 2003 as it doesn't look hopeful for me to get there any sooner?
