I just got a call from MS asking if we would like to participate in some photo deal they are doing next week. I was told they are always looking for member pictures and would like to take several of our family at Saratoga Springs next Friday. I responded that we would most likely do this. I was then asked the ages of the kids we are bringing, confirming our stay at BCV's and asking if our kids like to swim.

Anyone else get a call like this?

A lot of red flags go up with that phone call. i hope you did not give out any info like a credit card number.

They did not ask for a credit card number or anything like that. Caller ID was also "Disney Vacation Club", so...

I don't see any red flags at all. They are probably making some publicity photos. I don't see how anyone would know these folks were staying at DVC for what dates to be able to call them if it wasn't MS. I think this would be a very fun opportunity to participate in.

Kel3420 I would call member services just to make sure. With the caller-ID stating it was from Member Services it sound a lot better. When you said deal, did you means that there would be a charge for these services or did you mean something else. If requires some kind of consideration on your part then this is a first, someone calling to hustle photos, using MS. If it is just wanting to take pictures of your kids swimming at SSR for some advertisement or whatever than that is another story. It sounds a lot better to me now that your caller-id picked it up as MS.

Didn't someone just post about a photo shoot they did? Cora?

Someone on the AOL Board also got this opportunity but decided against it when the contract said that DVC had future control of the images. She wasn't sure if she wanted to sign away the rights to images of her children.

This was my train-of-thought also because there was another thread about someone getting a call to shoot some DVC family photos a couple of days ago.

There was definetly a post about this from a DVCer who gave up the better part of a day to participate and was dissapointed with the "photo shoot". I can't remember the thread name, but it was good one. IMO, I don't know if it would be worth giving up vacation time for w/o some sort of compensation.

I found the thread:

DVCers previous experience

They just did a week long photo shoot on the Western Cruise over Presidents' week. We signed the forms as did the many DVC folks on the ship that week. They gave out some really nice DVC hats to wear that helped identify us to the cameras. They explained they were putting together a whole new advertising blitz to push SSR. The nice thing was that they wanted us to just go about our usual routines and have fun, not give up a whole part of a day. Every once in a while, we would notice the cameras around.

I don't see red flags either. Have fun.

They are using members for a new campaign they are putting together. Someone here posted about the wonderful experience they just had a week or two ago. Another woman on the AOL Board became so stressed about how it was being handled that she cancelled the day of the shoot (in her hometown).

So, it is real. Get the info about what's involved and then decided what to do. I bet it'll be fun!

We are the family that was filmed last week in our home. It was a wonderful experience. My DH took the day off and my DS was kept home from school. We had an entire film crew in our house (producer, director, sound engineer, 2 electrical techs, director of photography, cosmetologist and a DVC rep). We were originally contacted by DVC about 7 weeks ago regarding a photo I sent to DVC about 4 years ago with an accompanying story.

Right now DVC is in the process of putting together the new sales center at Saratoga Springs. Part of this center is going to be a member memories area (this is where part of our film will be). I imagine what they are looking for is promo shots for Saratoga Springs. We had a wonderful time and were compensated with two envelopes filled with Disney Dollars and a lovely note.
