Call for OBI

I'm sure they think they could Obi. The trouble is that some people think they know everything, but know nothing !!

I think I'll just wait until you can get the info for me. It's worth waiting to get the correct information.

And some people are just trying to help ;) That is what we're here for (well, some of us anyway :))

Never mind what films are going to be on the flights, will it be beef or chicken?? Also, will Virgin have improved their after-dinner drinks options?

These are the things which trouble me:lmao:

Guys, there is clearly a bit of tension here - let's keep it friendly :) . I'd just like to issue a reminder that the input of everyone is welcomed and encouraged. Any queries posted on the forums should be open for general response. Questions directed at individuals should be made by way of PM. This will help to ensure that the boards don't become "cliquey" and, just as importantly, that individual members don't feel besieged.

Extract from DIS guidelines:

4. NO PERSONAL MESSAGES: The types of posts that we like to see on the DIS are those that everyone can participate in and benefit from. When a post is intended for an individual, it creates a problem and can be very awkward for both the person you're publicly contacting as well as others. Did you know that you can easily get in touch with almost anyone via the DIS Private Message system? Simply click on the name of the person and you should see a link for sending them a private message and/or email. If you come across a situation where the person has blocked these options, sorry you still can't use the boards to get in touch.

Whilst Obi is a valued contributor to these forums, to my knowledge he does not have insider knowledge of Virgin Atlantic's operations. Even the seemingly in-depth information he posts here is available to anyone as a subscriber of www.expertflyer.com. I've avoided saying so directly in the past, but in the wider interests of this board, I think it's time to clarify matters. Whilst many of us do fly Virgin to Orlando (me included), and Virgin is thus a big part of our trip planning, let's remember that these are Disney forums. I really wouldn't want to discourage anyone from asking questions about Virgin flights, but we are in danger of needing a sub-forum!

Chicken or Beef Matthew, Brandy or Baileys, could I interest you in a rock hard ice cream whilst you watch the in flight entertainment, I am sure you would welcome a visit to the dentist whilst in Orlando, Welcome to Orlando International

Just wanted to mention that if you want to ask more details on Virgin, then www.v-flyer.com (mentioned earlier in this thread) is great. There are quite a lot of "inside experts" there (i.e. people who work for Virgin etc). Those interested in information about BA might want to look at www.flyertalk.com - it is quite a "serious" place (my husband hangs out there, not me...), but again quite a few BA cabin crew and staff read and post there. Even if you just read/lurk/search those sites (like me), you can gleam a lot :cool1:

Might take some of the weight off of Obi :thumbsup2

Trick is Jules to have it all, so Chicken in Brandy Sauce followed by Beef drizzled with a Baileys reduction and a smattering of ice cream with a cold beer glaze - some of us like to travel in style you know:lmao:

I've joined and I'm actually a paid-up member of V-Flyer, but I seldom post. I lurk like a good-un, though! :rotfl:

Further to UK Debs comments on this thread, I have decided that from now on I will not be responding to ANY comments or requests regarding Virgin Atlantic or any other airline.

Please follow UKDebs links for any information you may or may not get an answer to.

Thank you to those for your comments to the information I have tried to supply in good faith, others seem to think that they know where the information comes from, so I will leave you in their capable hands on these matters.

Obi

Obi, I don't see anyone suggesting they know your sources, but I do think it's worth directing others to places where the information they seek is readily available.

:headache: I have just checked on the progress of this thread and i am completely :headache:  :sad1:
I asked obi for a bit of help that was not available on these other sites and i am 2 lazy to search. Virgin hadnt put the info out. Obi pmed me with an email address that wasnt guareented to respond and to this date hasnt, so why all the snipping and flamming. I thought we were here to help each other and provide info.

Yes there are other sites but for the lazy ones amongst us and the techno idiots like me obi is a great source of help, info and friendship.

Why the obi bashing :sad2: ??

Please dont leave us Obi, :sad1: you will be sadly missed :sad1: and my travel arrangements will require so much work:coffee:

I do have to say it does seem to be a on going scenario with certain replies to posts.
I think Obi enjoys giving info/advice and people love to read, and wether they take the advice that is upto them.
I know there is other websites with the knowledge etc but people have trust/faith in Obi as a person also, and he is here readily with the advice instead of going onto other forums,I only use DIS,so if I need advice I come here.

Obi - Dont Leave :goodvibes

Dare I suggest that some of the posters concerned maybe a little jelous of the attention Obi receives.

I've been posting on here for over 3 years and Obi has given me some very useful advice over this time, he has also put me in my place at times for fussing and worrying about things that actually worked out absolutely fine!

Recently he has gone above and beyond helping people with upgrades and seating requests ...... personally I think he should be congratulated not critisised.

He may be a little argumentative at times but personally this forum would be very boring without him !!!!!!!!!

Don't go Obi - you're an invaluable source of information to many of us! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure where this thread is going now but at the moment it serves no useful purpose in helping people plan their trip and so I can see no need for it to continue any further on this board.

Before I do close it though I would like to clarify some things which seem to have got lost in the emotion.

No one posting on this thread has said that Obi is not a useful source of information on these boards and that his contribution is no longer welcome, he is, and hopefully will continue to be a valued member. The issue was simply that contrary to board guidelines people were beginning to use the thread to communicate with Obi to the exclusion of other members. When other posters did try to offer some assistance they were dismissed and made to feel that their input was not welcome - again contrary to board guidelines.

Deb posted a warning to this effect which seems to have somehow been misinterpreted to say that Obi's input is not welcome :confused3 which is not the case. She was simply trying to point out that poeple need to follow the guidelines, she even pasted the relevant section into her post. What Deb was absolutely not saying though was that no one should post questions regarding Virgin Atlantic or any other airline, she was just making a light hearted remark that there had been a lot of these threads recently.

We accept that not everyone wants to look or knows where to look for all the information they need to plan their trip and that by posting here they can make use of others knowledge and assistance to help them out. There are other forums and sites out there that hold all sorts of information that is useful to trip planning and people are welcome to frequent them and link to them where appropriate from this forum. We are not saying that any questions relating to these subjects should be posted somewhere else other than the DIS as that sort of defeats the purpose of why this site exists.

Thank you for your co-operation :)
