California Grill - what did you wear ?

I've seen people in the California Grill in suits and cocktail dresses, and I've seen people in shorts and sneakers. I tend to err on the more dressy side because I feel very uncomfortable if I'm underdressed anywhere. I like to wear nice sandals and a dress, or a dressy top with slacks or dark-rinse jeans. My partner usually wears khakis and a polo or button-up shirt.

This. :flower3:

We clean up before we go but we don't go fancy. Last year DD wore a pretty dress. DH wore cotton pants and dress shirt (no tie). I wore a dressy top and capris. We don't usually bring really dressy clothes on vacation.

I do like to wear something a little nicer than park clothes to a signature restaurant. I don't think it is being snotty to clean up a little. Someone can have an outfit on that cost $20.00 and look nice. But, I do like to wear comfortable shoes/flats because depending on the time of the reservation we sometimes want to go to a parks EMH hours and not have to head back to the room and change into park clothes.

We are going to the Cali Grill :goodvibes

:woohoo: 7:45 PM reservation
fireworks at 10 PM
June 28, 2012 :woohoo:

We will celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary there and our DD's 17 birthday. Our DS will be 20 - so no little kids with us.

What did you wear to the California Grill ?
Are nice shorts, nice shirt and dress sandels OK for us ladies ?
Can our DS wear a nice shirt & nice shorts, but his sneakers ?
Our DS does not wear sandels.
DH has nice shorts, nice shirts and boat shoes.
DD may even wear one of her many skirts and sandels - she just has to pick which ones before we pack for WDW :rotfl:

I think if I remember, I wore dressy black capris and a floral (dressy) top. I paired it with some nice sandals.

Pooh2001: As far as I know, if you have your dinner receipt you can go back up to the CG and view the fireworks.

So glad you asked this, I was about to post the same question. Our ressies are at 9:00, and we'll be at MK that day. I wasn't sure if I should leave and change out of park clothes or don't worry about it. I guess I'll see how I feel at the time, if I'm having an awesome time at MK and don't want to leave to change I won't! I hate getting dressed up anyway.

I wore a more formal floor length sun dress with a choker necklace. The dress was turquoise, the necklace was wooden beads, and I wore it with a pair of sand colored wedge espadrilles. I had my girls in colorful sundresses and sparkly sneakers. DH wore jeans and a golf shirt and was one of the most underdressed people in there that night. Loved that meal!!!:thumbsup2

If the fireworks are at midnight....can we go back to the CR and go to the Cali Grill fireworks viewing area ?
Yes, hang on to your receipt from dinner and show it to them at the podium, they'll let you go up for the fireworks. (We did this when we had early dinner reservations, love the view when the sun is going down)
