Is it safe to assume that the later my reservation is at CG, the more kid-free it will be?

I have 'vations in early October at 9:40pm; I am wondering if this time is past the bedtime of many children, or do families with small ones take reservations any time that they can get them?

Yes, the later the better. But I must say that in the many, many, many times I've been there, kids have never been a problem. It's a big, bustling, noisy place. It does get a bit crowded in the bar area around fireworks time.

Sometimes, I prefer to go right after the fireworks.

We've eaten there once, and it was early, and there were a lot of children there, but I didn't notice any of them acting up or being a problem. So I guess it can be a hit and miss type of thing.

It's always the most quiet after the fireworks--and not too bad just at opening, long before the fireworks.

I would say nope..because people/families tend to hang around to see the fireworks, there have always been plenty of kids even when we are up there later.

It depends on the fireworks. If the fireworks are scheduled for say 9pm, you can expect families to stay until it is over. Then much of the restaurant will empty.
