California Grill Special Event

I just called to make PS for the California Grill on Wednesday, Oct. 19th. They said there was nothing available since there was a special event there on that night. Does anyone have any idea what that would be?

They did have PS for the previous night, the 18th, at 7:50pm. We took that and are hoping to see the fireworks. However, on that night they start at 8pm. Does anyone know how long the wait is to get seated? We've never been there. I'm wondering if earlier diners will all be hanging around for the fireworks and we won't even get seated until they are over.

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Since the Contemporary is a Convention Hotel there is the possibility that a company has booked the entire CG for the evening for a reception and dinner party.

They have some Food & Wine special events booked for some Hotel restaurants, but not for the CA Grill that night.

It could be anything!

Last year when we were up there, the bartenders had told us that the whole place had been closed the night before for a Disney Executives event, i.e. Michael Eisner had been there. This came up because we were discussing attire up there, and he had been up there in shorts. You may not be seated in time for the fireworkd, but you may not have a good table by the window anyway. I suggest you get there early, ask to go up and have a drink at the bar before your meal, go up, get a drink (Tell Lori and Ray Hi!), and then take it out on the observation deck and enjoy the fireworks. Then if you are really lucky, someone who wanted to hang out and watch the fireworks from a great window table, will get up and leave, you will get it and have a lovely view of MK while you dine. When you get there, I would mention that you would be happy to wait until after the fireworks if that would insure you a table by a window. Good luck, and enjoy!
