We tried both last summer and MUCH preferred CG. FF was very good, but we weren't crazy about some of the main dishes. CG was OVER THE TOP, especially with that view of the fireworks taken into account! :cloud9:

If you go to FF, have the mussels appetizer, WOW they were amazing. For us, the rest of the meal didn't live up.

We're been to both many times. I really prefer the atmosphere at Flying Fish. Because of the filreworks view at CG, there is always a lot of moving around and it just feels disruptive to me. Flying Fish is a more "adult" atmosphere and I like it.

I have been to both many times. Out of the signatures on the Disney Dining Plan, I rank Flying Fish #1. Ca Grill ranks #4.

If you want sushi, I'd pick Ca Grill. Otherwise, I think Flying Fish is a much better restaurant overall.

We've been to both quite often and we think the food at California Grill is more impressive. Flying Fish has never really wowed us overall, especially in the entree department. Both restaurants are noisier signatures, but CG has the amazing view.

Thanks everyone for you input!Very confused on what to do here! FH LOVED Sushi, LOVES LOVES LOVES it. I prefer non-sushi lol but I can compromise. I just wanted to get to the BW area as it a favorite of mine. We currently have ressies for Kouzzina, but after reviewing our DXPP, we could do another signature. I was going for Bluezoo and realized they do not accept DDP.

Decisions! Decisions!

The better food is by far at Flying Fish. CG has never really impressed us when it comes to food. Yes, there is a nice view of Wishes (Wishes is still better inside MK, IMO) and the sushi is pretty good, but I think if people took the Wishes aspect out of the restaurant and based their experience solely on the food, not as many people would rave about it. :confused3

I can say in my case, that's not true. I don't even go to CG for the Wishes view - I think the view is from an odd angle and the show is far better from Poly, GF or in the park. But I've always had amazing appetizers and sushi, and some excellent entrees (mostly chicken and seafood).

At FF, I find that there's a lot going on in many of the dishes, yet the flavors are either too expected or too out-of-balance (their signature snapper dish is quite heavy, rich, and sweet, while my most recent entree there had way too much salt, and I've never ever complained about salt).

I just think it's too easy to 'blame' the Wishes view for people's perception of CG, when I can say Flying Fish is one of my least favorite signatures from a food standpoint (and I'm an adventurous eater and seafood fan).

Depends upon what you plan to order - if suishi or flatbreads is your thing then CG, I think the entrees are better at FF. If you're one of the picky meat only eaters the steak at FF is better than the filet at CG.

I've been to both many times. Had a great meal on my last trip (April 2011) at Cal Grill, but had an equally great meal on the trip before that (Feb 2011) at FF. I'd give the nod overall to Flying Fish, but you can't really go wrong at either one.
