Have never been to either and would like to try one or the other this time. Was leaning toward Citricos because their menu looked more appealing. However, I have read so many incredible reviews of California Grill that I can't disregard it.

So, which do you like and why?

Thanks, Kathy

Never ate at Citricos, however, we just ate at California Grill one week ago. Service was A+++. Very nice atmosphere. Our reservations were at 9:40 & the fireworks started at 10:00. After we ordered, we went out on the observation deck to watch the show then back to our table where our appetizers were waiting. We both had the filet which was mouthwatering. The augratin style potatoes were very good as well. I can't remember my dessert :( I just remember raving about everything for a couple days afterwards. It is a signature dining restaurant if you're on the DDP. Two table service credits per person. Hope that helps. :thumbsup2

I have a friend that prefers Citrico's to any place at WDW. I was never able to get a ressie (they are closed some days).

However, been to CA Grill (dozens of times and it is a ***** Star restaurant with an exceptional view of Orlando, Seven Seas Lagoon and the Castle (fireworks).

I don't think you could go wrong with either. How about try both and give us your dining experience?

Citrico's - better food, better service and nowhere near as crazy as Cal Grill can get.

I would give a slight nod to the food at the California Grill, but prefer the quiet atmosphere to the craziness at CG around fireworks time. We prefer CG, but like to be in and out before Wishes....even with the new check-in system, it still turns into a mini-zoo with people streaming in and out to see the show. And once Wishes is over there is always a massive turn-over of tables. Many diners who have long since finished their meals just sit at their tables waiting for the show.

After our last few trips, Citricos has become our new favorite WDW restaurant (behind V&A) and beating out Jiko. Now, I love CG, but the atmosphere can be a little crazy. We did discover the wine room there, which offers a much quieter dining experience (no fireworks view). But if the Citricos menu is more appealing to you, I'd go with that one. Our servers have always been exceptional (top Disney quality), and the food is wonderful. The shrimp and crab appetizers are both delicious.

I'd agree that you can't really go wrong with either one. And Citricos is closed early in the week (Mon and Tues?), so make sure you check the date.

Personally, I found Citricos too quiet (and we had a miserable waiter!) Food was nice, but the setting wasn’t that exciting. However I LOVE The California Grill!! Great Food, great service and a location to die for! Just make sure you are there during the Fireworks – if you speak to your server they will put everything on hold until the Fireworks finish.

Go to the Grill! :thumbsup2

Both of these restaurants are really nice. If I had to choose I would pick Callifornia Grill. A couple of summers ago, we went to both of these restaurants in one week, I totally enjoyed them both, but CG was the one I couldn't wait to get back to. I have been to both restaurants again since then and I would still pick CG. The servers there are just awesome, they really now how to take care of diners.
However, if the menu at Citricos is more to your liking , by all means go there!! I am sure you will really enjoy it. And if you can swing it, do both restaurants I am sure you will be glad that you did!

We love CA Grill. We were there last year (honeymoon/fireworks table) and when we go next month we're planning on going just to sit at the bar this time and have that amazing 4-cheese flatbread, the spicy sensation sushi roll, and we'll be splitting the pork tenderloin.

I'm telling you, we talked about that flatbread the entire trip! :woohoo:

It's such a fabulous restaurant -- I haven't been to Citricos, but CA Grill just feels more a part of things to me.

California Grill :thumbsup2

The atmosphere is great and you certainly can't beat the views!! We like going to watch the sun set behind the castle.

Their food is awesome. We especially like the filet, and the goat cheese ravioli.

Would you or have you taken your small children to Citricos?
Yes, :thumbsup2 the first time we went our children were 5 and 8. Other people definitely take their children there too. For my kids, we definitely take game boys, books, and other entertainment so that they can sit through a nice dinner like that. We've never had a problem with them, but they are generally calm kids. You need to determine how long your kids can sit at a nice dinner without driving yourselves (and others) crazy  . So, definitely go for it if you think they can last for a nice dinner!! Oh, and also, when we've gone, the kids' menu had make-your-own sundaes for dessert -- my daughter loved it!!!

I agree about Citrico's. We must have had the same waiter. ;) We did like the quiet though. We haven't been to CG in a while, but is is very noisey there. Good luck trying to get a table before fireworks. :( We still prefer watching them from Main Street USA then walking over to CG for dinner. :)

We would pick CA Grill. The food is great, but you just can't beat that view. DS will be 11 on this trip and this is one of his favorite WDW restaurants. We have been taking him here for years.

We've not been to Citricos yet but the California Grill is one of our Favorites! the food is great, the service is great and the Fireworks are AWESOME! when we book dinner there, we make sure to book around the Fireworks that night because you can go out on this walkway and watch from the restaurant! granted, the last time we did that was in December and the winds were CRAZY but we still love it! This year we are trying BOTH! I can't wait to compare the two of them!

Another vote for California Grill. We have done it several times and have never been disappointed. I would do it every trip but ever since we got DVC and have access to a W/D my wife has become "pack as little as possible" lady and doesnt want to bring an outfit she will only wear once there. Also with the many places to eat we do like trying other restaurants instead of hitting the same ones. But after reading this thread I think I am going to have to lay down the law next trip and say "pack an extra outfit, were going to the California Grill"
