California Grill- go for food or fireworks?

The view is what I love about it (even if you are not at a window seat) it is amazing. The food is very good. I don't love the deposit requirement though, because I feel trapped if I want to cancel last minute.

When there are only two of us, we usually take our chances, go to 2nd floor check in without a reservation and ask to sit in the lonuge (not near fireworks time) and have been able to sit in the lounge areas and do drinks and apps (or full dinner if we want) many times. You get the view, and you can test drive the food. But you need to be prepared for a Plan B if that does not work out. Our current Plan B is the Wave -- but we've never needed it!

I agree with Pakey, I love the food and usually book an early reservation to avoid the fireworks crowd. I can always go back to watch them as long as I have my dinner reciept. While the fireworks are an impressive view for a first-timer, I much prefer the view from Main Street. So for me, it is definitely the food!

I never knew this about being able to go back for the fireworks as long as you have a receipt! Good info! Thanks for sharing!!!

I tried getting an earlier time and don't see any availability anymore for my week. I should have started this thread 5 months ago :rotfl2:

I guess I will keep my 7:30 ADR .

Now I am so excited about eating here!!!:goodvibes

The food is excellent :thumbsup2

Is it worth the prices they charge? Well, the atmosphere and location is part of what helps them charge what they charge. We go early and that way we avoid the whole fireworks scene.
