California Adventure Food & Wine ~ April 2016

So I was there last weekend and found out the hard way that last call at California Adventure is an hour before the park closes. Not a big deal, but I was hoping to grab a glass of wine to drink while watching World of Color. (This policy must be newish, because I did have wine with World of Color the last two times I was there.) It's not really a big deal, but it's kind of a strange policy, since Downtown Disney right outside the park gates still serves alcohol until much later - and Disneyland Park was open until midnight that night. For those two reasons, it's not likely that the 8-9 hour of no alcohol service really played any part in drunk-driving-reduction.

Hmm, I know all the Food and Wine signs at the booths said that they close 1 hour prior to the park closing, but I didn't know it was a park-wide alcohol policy. I guess it makes sense, our baseball and football stadiums don't serve any alcohol after the 7th inning/4th quarter. Doesn't the new World of Color dessert party come with champagne?

I don't know the reasoning or rules behind it but this was our experience at Christmas as well. The last call at Carthay Lounge was an hour before park closing.

I wonder if this is enforced only on some days and on what it depends, I know we have gotten served at Cove Bar very late close to park closing hours

Just got back today and I had a great time at F&W! I didn't have any problems trying everything I wanted to; but Sunday afternoon certainly felt very crowded. The beverage and lifestyle seminars I saw were also really interesting.

Hoping this comes back in 2017. I wonder if it will take place in April again since Easter is in mid-April next year and it might coincide with a lot of the US spring breaks.

We visited the Food & Wine on Friday. My son had the slider and loved it. My husband and I shared the southern California beer sampler, we liked them all! We all 3 had the cauliflower green chili burrito and it was AMAZING! So glad we got to try that. We also got the recipe for it at Blue Sky Cellar - yay! As a vegetarian it was nice to get a recipe card for me! Going to have to try to remake it.

That was last week's recipe card! I agree, its amazing!

I just received and completed what turned out to be a 45-minute survey from Disneyland on the Food & Wine Festival. I've never received a Disneyland survey so it was extremely detailed -- even asking me to mark all the dishes I tried and what my favorite was.

Did include two interesting/promising questions: 1. If the F&W festival were offered in future years, how likely would you be to return? And 2. How interested are you in experiencing similar events at DCA?

I tried the 3 cheese Mac with Chicken. It was really good. I also tried the mini Boule with Ale Chedder soup with Bacon. The bread was great the soup was tasteless, white sauce that needed salt. I just scaped it out after a few bites and had the bread.

I'm really disappointed that there don't seem to be any pins for the F&W. I would have bought one.

What's the 411 on the AP buttons. I stopped in today and got a faded blue (?) one with the AP logo on it no mention of F&W. Don't they have ones like taniahappy posted above? Or only on weekends?

They must give out different pins each week. Mine shows a wine glass and carthay circle. They were out of recipe cards that week though.

There were different pins for AP for each week, those are available at Blue Sky Cellar Lounge all week.
We were told from day 1 they would give away 3 pins; a different one every 10 days, (which makes sense if you analize the art work displayed at Blue Sky Cellar) but then they posted that there would be a total of 4, one per week, so I am very interested in seeing what is being given away this week.

It was a button with an AP logo on it. They also had some left over from previous week's and you could get extras without being scanned. I got a few and gave them to some friends who missed various weeks and a CM friend who said she liked one. They also had past weeks recipe cards if you missed any. I was a little disappointed there wasn't a new button. I was glad to get the extras to share, though.

Oh ok, thanks for the info! Sad to report we wont make it today and so, no AP pin for me. So bummed. :( Searching for it on ebay, no luck so far :(
