Cali Grill or Cinderella's Royal Table?

Hi Everyone!

We leave for WDW in a week and we are having a hard time picking between either Cinderella's Royal Table or California Grill for our first night. We are traveling with my parents and our 4 year old DS and 4 month old DS. The last few times we went to Cali Grill we had a not so wonderful meal. It was disappointing, but the drinks are always great and of course so is the sushi. We haven't been to CRT in 8 years and even longer than that for dinner. Is it any good? Will we be very very disappointed?

My son has a HUGE crush on Cinderella and was looking forward to meeting her in her castle, but we could always meet her during the day with Rapunzel. We don't want to have a horrendous meal just so he can meet Cinderella since it's not exactly a cheap meal.

Has anyone been to either recently? Any reviews?

Thanks!!

I don't think very many people go to CRT because of the food...the draw is eating inside the castle and meeting the princesses. I found CRT's food to be okay, but nothing really outstanding. I'm not sure what exactly was disappointing about CA Grill, but I've always found the food and service at CA Grill to be markedly better than at CRT. I think CRT is an amazing experience and well worth doing, as long as you know you're not going for the food.

We ate at CRT on Monday. I will say we were quite disappointed. The characters were rushed and didn't spend that much time with our DD. We were celebrating her birthday. The waiter sang to her in a very sad monotone voice. We had ordered her the Cinderella Glass slipper and he delivered it as it was a pizza. It wasn't a special event at all. Not worth the $$$. (dinner portions were small too)

We ate at CRT 5 years ago and it was easily as good as any other table service. Cali grill was better but CRT was an amazing meal and even as a group of adults the characters made it memorable

This. Additionally the food was close to our worst meal of the week. Personally, I would just do the meet and greets. Less rushed.

California Grill was amazing and a wonderful view, but I did find the service slightly lacking and somewhat snooty. But overall worth the experience! Definitely stay and watch Wishes :)

Forgot to mention, we were there about 3 months ago.
