I am filling out a form for DD, and it asks for her GPA. If she has never made a B, it is a 4.0 right?

If she's gotten a B+ or A- it would be just under a 4.0 If it's entirely A's then yes, it's a 4.0

It can be a 4.0 or it could be higher, depending on the classes she has taken. Some are on a 5 point scale. So confusing.

That is true. The only other thing to take into consideration would be honors classes. Some school districts give bonus points for honors so you can actually get higher than a 4.0.

Unless some of her grades are weighted due to being higher level courses. Then her GPA could be even higher than 4.0.

how old is your daughter?

It really depends on the school. Some schools offer Honors or AP classes that count higher in the GPA - like an A in AP English is worth 5.0 points instead of 4.0.

I'd call your daughter's school and ask.

She is in 8th grade. She does take honors classes, but they are not weighted any differently in our school system.

When I was in school, an A was worth 4 points, a B worth 3, a C worth 2, and a D worth 1. Any minus grade was -0.3 (so an A- was a 3.7), and any plus grade was + 0.3 (so an A+ was 4.3)

Hope that doesn't make anything more complicated.... :)

The school will know.

AP classes are usually weighted so that the kids end up with higher than 4.0 averages. :)
