Hi Disers -

Well my DH just surprised me with an early Mother's Day surprise and is taking me to WDW (without the kids) for my Birthday (mid July) Anyway, I called today and made an ADR at Cal Grill on my Birthday!!!! :cloud9: I was able to get a 9:20 ADR and Wishes is 10pm that night. What are the chances that we will be able to get a Window Table and be seated by the time Wishes starts?

If we are still waiting for a table and Wishes starts, will we be able to go out on the balcony to watch while we wait for a table? I have never been to Cal Grill but I have read there is a balconly that diners can go on to watch if they don't have a window seat....please correct me if I am wrong.

Count me along for the ride, since I just booked the same scenario...it's a much later dinner than we're used to, but since it will only be DW & I, and it's on our arrival day, thought it would be a nice treat....

We were there in Jan 08, slow time of year, and waited 50 minutes past our ADR time for ANY table. People with window tables don't generally get up and leave 40 minutes before fireworks. And everyone requests a window table. I believe most people wanting to see fireworks from their table request an ADR about 2 hours before the show. The closer to the fireworks, the further behind they get on ADR's because people do not give up their tables.

I wouldn't go expecting to be seated before fireworks or getting a window table. If it happens for you, then you got pixie dust; if it doesn't you won't be disappointed. We've dined here about 6 times and only had a window table at fireworks time once.

You check in at the podium on the second floor for dinner and they will let you up to the restaurant level only if capacity allows. There is a very small bar and lounge up there where people who are waiting can sit but most of the time there are no available seats and people are standing in the area where the elevator drops you off.

There is an observation deck outside that you can view from. Many of the people seated at tables go out there because there are really not that many tables that offer as good of a view as the deck does.

The food is spectacular. It's the reason we return here.

Even if you can't get a window seat, which I think might be luck of the draw at that point, you can pause your meal and go to the balcony..

We didn't get a window seat when we visited last year, but our server was wonderful and had us go ahead and order our desserts before the fireworks. When we returned they were there waiting for us. They had to have been delivered right when the show ended, because DD had ordered ice-cream and there was no meltage. We go every year and always have a great experience. Don't worry about your ADR time or seating. You can't go wrong here IMO.

Can you go back up to the balcony to view Wishes if you had a very early dinner? The only time I could get the night we want is 6:15!!

Yes you can return by showing your receipt. However, the view is so much better from MK that if you have time and park access, you are better off going to the park.

We've seen it from the park a few times - DH really HATES the aftermath!! So I thought this might be a nice change up!
