cake pop maker??

Yes, I bought one today as well and experimented. I bought a marble cake mix and it worked fine!!! They cook so quickly. I'm trying itnout to try and make cake pops for DS's graduation open house. The problem I have is, I bought the meltable choc discs and tried to dip them, although they tasted great, I don't know how to get them to look smooth/presentable. Any suggestions?

I haven't made the babycakes, but I have made a lot of oreo truffles! It takes some practice to get it to look nice. I find using 2 toothpicks works for me. I stick one into the uncoated ball (chilling or freezing them a little helps). Then dip into the chocolate. When coated, use the other toothpick to pry the coated ball off the original toothpick. I find setting them on a gridded cooling rack covered with waxed paper works best to allow them to dry. If a lot of chocolate drips off onto to wax paper puddling near the bottom of the ball, lift up the ball and move it to another spot of the waxed paper. Otherwise you will get a big rim of chocolate around the base that you can't get off easily.

YUM! :thumbsup2

I tried mine out tonight...we like! I made the recipe for the chocolate cake that it came with and the vanilla glaze. My DS9 loves the cake doughnut holes from KK...so I figured this would be great for him. They came out light and fluffy like a piece of cake would be. I never liked the ones that were mixed with the frosting either because they were so heavy to me....I do know several people that like them, they just weren't for me.

So, anyway, my review, I LOVE IT! I will be using it to make treats for my DD11's bday party next weekend. It is so easy to use, just like a waffle iron. To me it is so worth the money because I can whip up a quick treat for the kids and it will cost next to nothing and won't heat up the whole kitchen.

So, here are my doughnut holes....

Thank you!

I am awful with chocolate. I hope you get it to work.

On the Babycakes website I was reading how to make them and it mentioned adding melted butter, oil, or crisco to the melted candies if it gets too thick, it will thin the mix out and create a smoother texture.

But just know that is what I read, I have never tried them!

Thanks for the info...I will try it out. By the time I practice enough to be perfect for my ds graduation, they will be rolling me in the door :rotfl: afterall, you can't let all the ones you make go to waste!!!

I am taking a cooking class on this on Sat. AM. I'm really looking forward to it. I love to bake and like to eat it more!! I'm hoping I like it and that it's easy enough to do again at home. It seems like it would be a great activity to do w/ my girls. The machine looks tempting. I have to wait to see what it's like Sat before I buy. I'll report back w/ the results.

My Kohl's didn't have it! :headache:

Where else do they sell these? Target? Bed, Bath and Beyond?????

Thanks. Probably not. My car gets 17mpg, so that trip would cost about $15 in gas just to get it, not to mention a 2 hour or more round trip. Thanks though.

I should have asked if they could get one in.....I could still do that, but I had all 3 of my BOYS with me and they hate shopping and I hate shopping with them! It takes 3 times as long for me to find anything because they somehow think the store is one giant playground!

The store I went to (South Blvd.) did have the other two Babycakes machines (donuts and mini muffins) so I know they carry the brand.

Dawn

Well....not sure if you want to drive this far....but they have them at the Salisbury Kohl's

Wait...are you shopping with my kids? I am sure they cam check the other stores, they tracked down dome jewelry for me once at the University store ....I. wentand combined with a trip to Ikea.

I think I will call them. I have company flying in tonight and a packed long weekend, so no time to actually play with the machine anyway until later next week.....

Oh my WORD! I just called the Pineville Kohls and the lady was SO rude. She told me there is no way to look it up or know if they ever carry them or if they will get them in again or if any other stores have them unless *I*, the customer, can provide her with the UPC code. She then told me that they HAVE the donut maker and the cupcake maker and those should be fine for me or I can just come back to the store periodically to look for myself.

REALLY?????? SHEESH!

However, if any of you will provide me with the UPC code I guess I could call back.

Good Grief!

Called back a 2nd time and somehow in the transfer I got hung up on.....Ok, now I am just ticked.....I never shop at Kohl's, now I remember why.

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! In my experience, Kohls has always had the best customer service!!! Sorry you didn't get the same.

I don't have one of the cake pop makers, but if I get one this weekend or stop by the store, I will get the UPC number for you.

I hate they were so rude! They are almost overly friendly at the one here!

Thank you. My guess is that it was just the one employee as the person answering seemed friendly enough, although he couldn't help me.

I think I will stop by the one on 74 on Monday night as I need to go that way on Monday.

Hopefully I will find one somewhere.

Wah, my Kohls didn't have it either. Probably best, having easy access to cake is probably not a good thing for me! But I still want it LOL!!!!

OK, maybe mines defective or something....but is anyone else having trouble getting it to latch closed?? :confused3 I can't figure out what I'mdoing wrong & its too darn hot to stick my finger in there.

If it doesn't close the whole way, the front 3 don't bake in the shape of a ball....they're like little flying cake saucers

I stopped by Kohls today and they didn't have the cake pop maker. They had the whoppie pie maker, the donut maker and the cupcake maker; but not the cake pop maker.
