Ok! So we had our planning session and cake tasting and we STILL can't decide on a flavor. At the tasting my DF chose Yellow Cake with Buttercream filling, but I HATE buttercream. =(
I can tolerate it on the outside of the cake, but I would prefer to keep it away from the filling.
So now we are going back over all the choices and just can't seem to come up with a happy medium.

At our tasting we did not get to sample the milk chocolate, only the dark chocolate. Does anyone have an opinion on the milk chocolate? We are definitely chocolate lovers but the dark chocolate was just not for us. The chocolate cake also tasted a little off, almost like it had some sort of fruity aftertaste. Sooooo........what cake flavors would YOU recommend?
Has anyone had the milk chocolate filling? Please help, I desperately don't want buttercream! ;)

I stayed away from buttercream filling as well.

The top layer is chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse
The middle is Yellow Cake with Amaretto Mousse (moms choice)
The bottom is chocolate cake with Baileys Mousse.

My planner told me stay away from the fruity flavors, because most people won't eat it. I also hate Amaretto, but my entire family LOVES it! So I lost..

I think he really just wanted us to be safe.

The milk chocolate filling was very good! I made the top layer all chocolate since no one would be eating it except for me and DF.

If you're a chocolate fan, we had chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling - it was AMAZING!! Our other 2 layers were almond with raspberry jam and chocolate with chocolate ganache and raspberry jam. They were all great, but the chocolate mousse was a huge hit!

We were told that we couldn't have 3 different layer fillings, only 2. If we could have 3 that would help tremendously. Has this changed?

Is your cake a 3 tier cake? If it is I don't see why you can't have 3 different flavors. Mine is a 3 tier and we chose:

top - yellow cake with tropical mouse
middle - almond cake with amaretto mouse
bottom - chocolate cake with bavarian cream and strawberries

We had a two tier and did marble with buttercream and marble with Bailey's mousse. Everyone loved both. I recommend the marble with the milk chocolate mousse--it's not too chocolatey (as if there is such a thing!). Peanut butter mousse was out because my mom's allergic, but it was also super yummy.

3 different fillings in one tier of cake or each tier a different filling type? We had 3 tiers, each tier a different flavor/filling combo.

We have 3 Tiers and were told 2 of the tiers had to be the same flavor. I'm gonna drop an e-mail to the planner and see if this can be looked into.

We have 3 layers with 3 different flavors.

Top - Marble Cake w/ Tropical Mousse (We loved but weren't so sure everyone would)
Middle- Chocolate Cake w/ Raspberry Mousse
Bottom - Almond Cake w/ Amaretto Mousse

We have 3 layers also. We are doing the Bridge to Happiness cake.

here are our flavors
chocolate cake with peanutbutter mousse
marble cake with chocolate mousse
almond cake with baileys's mousse

My Top layer is Chocolate cake with Peanut butter filling

The Second Layer is Almond Cake with Bavarian Creme! SO GOOD!!!

The Chocolate cake was excellent too!

Our cake is:
Top layer- Milk chocolate with milk chocolate mousse
Middle- Red Velvet with cream cheese
Bottom-Almond cake with ameretto mousse

I really liked the chocolate cake, that's why we picked it for the top... so we can have it all to ourselves!!!

Ok, so for those who have had the chocolate cake, did it have a slight fruity taste to it or was ours just a fluke? By fruity I mean our tasting had a definite hint of something citrus in the chocolate, we'll say a mild hint of orange with chocolate cake.

We're bonkers with flavors at our wedding.

Top layer will be marble cake and peanut butter cup mousse.
Middle layer will be yellow cake with orange mousse (think creamsicle!)
Bottom layer will be marble cake with dark chocolate mousse and fresh raspberries (swoon!)

Our chocolate cake did not have any citrus under or overtones. Everyone loved it. We had one layer with peanut butter mouse, dark chocolate ganache and marble cake. The middle layer was supposed to be almond with amaretto mousse but they sent us home with the middle layer being chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse (we loved it and ate on it the week of the vow renewal). I don't know what our top layer has but I am counting on it to taste good! It was supposed to have the flavors choco cake with pnt butter mousse??
