We recently had lunch here, and I wanted to give a brief review.
Our meal -
Petuna punch (non-alcohol lemonade) - $9
Croque madame - $29
Bellini - $19
BlackBerry Avacado Salade - $26
One scoop ice cream - $7
Pixie Fetti Sundae - $15
Pixie Fetti Cake Slice - $23
Pre tip total - $136
Pros:
- our table was one of 3 in the back. Gorgeous chandeliers and dangling crystals. Probably the best area in the restaurant
- food was very good and portions were a nice amount. Big enough to be filling but not so big as to be absurd or feel wasteful when you can’t take it away
- it was a beautiful space and everything was thoughtfully done
Cons:
- it was a very expensive lunch for what it was. I am not uncomfortable with resort pricing, but there was something about this that just seems excessive. A salad with no protein and no bread service needs to wow for $26, and this just didn’t.
- I assumed my Bellini would be served in a flute with a fun garnish, but it was served in a coupe and looked a little boring with nothing but the drink and a few gold flakes on top.
- we got the cake to go because we wanted the ice cream but felt like we had to try the cake. To be fair, I’m not a gourmet, but again, a $23 slice of cake needs to impress me more than this did. It was good, but not something I would ever seek out again. (It is also very confusing for me to know how to share a piece of cake. How do you cut it so it isn’t one person getting a huge glob of icing??)
- our service was fine, but again, it feels like the restaurant needs to be an experience, and the service needs to sell it, and ‘fine’ just isn’t going to cut it for us.
I feel like I am all over the place with this, but I guess my final thoughts are that I would likely return if I’m staying at the Boardwalk and want a fresh and pleasant meal. I would not come back if I weren’t within walking distance. I would also skip dessert and get an ice cream from beaches and cream.
