Cake Bake Shop at the BoardWalk is now open

Thank you! If you hadn't taken a snapshot I may not have believed you :).

I thought I had gone to Open Table as soon as I learned that it was an option, but it came up with nothing. But it did not look like your screenshot either, so I don't know what I did. I also went to the Cake Bake main site and tried their site and came up with nothing.

So, really frustrating that via the Disney site I would have never come up with a ressie. Same with Topolino’s Terrace at the Riviera... I was never going to get a ressie their because, as I have now learned, it is being refurbed for a couple weeks.
I do have the app. Were you able to book it?

Were you able to get a reservation? I also went on Open Table and all they had were 10:30 or 10:45 PM for the entire week in mid-February. I'll try calling tomorrow.

I went to Cake Bake Shop 3 times in the last few weeks. I also rearranged my reservations multiple times as our plans kept changing.

Sometimes all the times would show on Open Table, sometimes only 10:45am. Just keep checking and at some point, almost all times will appear. Sometimes I’d just give up and check a few hours later. I have noticed plenty of instant availability during peak dinner hours, and then nothing at all a few minutes later. OpenTable alerts did not help. It’s bizarre.

Then again, I had a similar issue booking Candlelight Processional dining packages. Over two weeks of rearranging plans, I’d see zero availability and then suddenly, about 15-20 options at 4-5 restaurants would open up. This happened multiple times over the two weeks until gradually I saw no reservations available at all (also I kept checking and stuck with what I had). They were the same reservations so did not seem logical the availability popped up from random people dropping reservations.

:offtopic:CP was a bit different as there could be 1 slot available but dozen or more options for it time/restaurant wise. Once it was booked for one, all options disappeared. This seemed to happen mostly with the new dining offerings, as if they were being drawn from a common pool of tickets (I booked as a party of 1 on a couple very popular nights and played around with the system a bit seeing this happen).

Yes, I didn't realize as first that @Disturbia was showing me that my desired time was available (after having just checked and found nothing). Thank you @Disturbia, this will be another surprise for DW.

I guess I am not concerned about cancellation because the events manager called me and explained what applied to me. She said I could cancel , said I would pay the whole amount within 24 hours.

All I have to do is call or email the events team to cancel. Easy enough 👍
I was emailing them to book an Afternoon Tea reservation in April. Once I received the contract on Thursday I wrote back and said

"Am I reading the contract correctly that it is non refundable if we need to cancel?"

Her response:
"That is correct, but we can absolutely rebook you for another day if something were to come up. "

Her response & the way I read my contract indicates this is non-refundable. Your 'deposit' as they call it is payment in full.

I'm hoping someone can clarify for me.

I ended up canceling without any issues. However it was when it first opened so they may have changed things.

I am not a fan of non refundable things! I change my mind too many times at wdw!

I did email again to get confirmation, and this was her reply:

"Payments for the reservation are due at the time of booking and are nonrefundable. Guests are able to reschedule their tea and transfer their payment to an alternative date. We kindly ask that you provide at least 72 hours to reschedule! "

That's fine for their Indiana locations where it's probably mostly locals and they can find an alternative date to go. At this point I'm not sure what to do. There are so many variables that can interrupt a trip. I'm not sure if travel insurance would cover something like this either?

We (me and DD) chose to pass on the tea for that exact reason and opted to have lunch instead. Since our lunch was during the tea service times, I saw where the guests were seated and they had to bring the items through our seating area to get to the section they use for the tea, so I saw that as well.

I have zero regrets that we didn’t do the tea.

Lunch made way more sense for us that day. We were in park clothes and spent time in the parks that morning and later in the evening. Ultimately, having the full food and drink menu available was also better for us than the trays I saw being carried into the room. If the tea is really important to you and you are planning your day around doing it - getting dressed up to go, having no other plans - then maybe I would risk the non-refundable deposit. But if you want to go as part of your day and to check the place out, then I would recommend going for lunch.

My personal experience is that I would return for a meal, but I will never book the tea.

I scheduled an Afternoon Tea on Nov. 18 for the last week of January. I asked 4 times in e-mails before I received an answer to the cancelation question, and I finally got a reply which is basically what was reported above:<< "If your travel plans change, reach out to us and we would be happy to reschedule your reservation!">> I don't know if their policy has changed but this is what it was in November. I did decide to keep the reservation since I loved the tea experiences at the Grand Floridian. My expectations are somewhat lower, but I still want to try it. I will be going solo and I like trying all kinds of experiences, so we'll see how it goes. I do plan on emphasizing I want hot tea!

I am watching the weather here to make sure no winter disruptions are apt to occur that might interrupt travel. Right now, it looks like the weather will improve here next weekend. It's way below zero right now!

I'll try to remember to report back~

And 72 hours notice to reschedule?? At WDW where people often make short trips? Then weather & airline issues can cause last minute disruptions to thousands of people’s trips. I’m a hard pass on if they keep it nonrefundable.

Any chance at rolling the dice on a day of reservation?

Made a lunch reservation for March in MDE with no problems. Looking for suggestions and can I split my order with my guest without difficulty from the establishment? Weird question, just asking.

Visited Cake Bake and didint have any problems splitting a salad. The server acurally suggested it. Also shared an entree at Le Cellier and was told its a common request across Disney.
Has anyone done a split order on an entree? I was thinking about it for the po boy since it’s gig

I visited the Cake Bake Shop twice this past week, once for dinner and once for breakfast. Both times there were empty tables. The location is very pretty and convenient if staying in the BW area. It reminds me of the GF. I had the chicken picatti for dinner and traditional eggs benedict for breakfast. The food was good, but the chicken dish was a little on the bland side for my taste. I would like to try them again for lunch (chicken salad on a crescent) and maybe a tea if I was there with my daughter and granddaughter.

After dinner we visited the shop area where there are many tempting treats. I bought two pieces of cake, the chocolate cake (all chocolate) and the coconut cake. I split the chocolate cake into three pieces and froze one to bring home. I split the coconut cake into two slices and froze one to bring home. I would definitely get the chocolate cake again but not the coconut cake. The coconut cake was good but not good enough to justify the cost.

My one complaint with the shop area is they charge you for a bag. Now mind you it's a very nice bag but I found it very annoying that I paid approximately $50 for two pieces of cake, and I had to pay $1.99 for a bag. That just struck me as wrong, it's just the principal of the thing that gets me. I guess they figure if you're crazy enough to spend $50 on two pieces of cake what's a $1.99 more...Just my 2cents.

FYI- at breakfast I bought 1/2 of my egg's benedict back to the room and they gave me a bag at no charge. My breakfast cost less than the two pieces of cake so go figure their logic.

Was the bag one of the pretty reusable ones? When we visited the bakery in November, we were offered the reusable bag for a charge and a regular (still said Cake Bake Shop) for a nominal fee - maybe 10 cents. I wish we have gotten the reusable one - so pretty!
We are used to paying for bags where we live - bags provided by merchants have to be paper and require a fee.

I received 4 pink bags with multiple leftovers/shop purchases during multiple trips when it first opened. I actually needed to bring a bag to one of the parks and a cast member stopped me and asked me how the place was. So I guess their ʻfreeʻ advertising worked! They are my new beautiful closet organizers.

I purchased 2 cake slices during last trip and paid the $1.99 for the bag and I’m just wondering if you eat a meal and have left overs do they also charge a $1.99 for a bag for your left overs? I guess I could just bring my bag back with me…
