Cake Bake Shop at the BoardWalk is now open

I’m settled in now.
Canceled my night reservations on 12/25 via MDE and OT.
Retained my afternoon tea on 1/1 booked directly from CBS. Not fighting, grilling, questioning about the 4% tip to Event Staff. Just can’t be bothered.

This has been quite the ordeal for you, hopefully it’s worth it.

I'm going to throw CBS a bone here over the availability roller coaster.

I've seen this happen a lot when I used to work in the travel industry and hotels that used multiple sites for room reservations would get over booked. They give these sites each a certain number of rooms, once the rooms are filled it shows as unavailable. Now what often happens is the hotel will say 'we've made more direct bookings than we anticipated, let's close availability on site X' and manually close out the left over rooms or change the bookable number down to the current bookings. But then inevitably someone cancels. This reopens availability because the system doesn't know you don't want anymore bookings at all, it just knows you gave 40 rooms, 39 are booked so 1 is able to be sold. The hotel thinks they've closed the bookings on site X and they've received a cancellation so they believe they can allow a new booking from site Y or directly through them in its place. Site X fills the booking and now the hotel is overbooked because it replaced 1 booking with 2.

I imagine their software is very similar and using tables in place of rooms. Only there's a third component that can be added, available staff. It's possible that they can add and remove shifts to affect available tables and this combined with multiple reservation sources is leading to these crazy temporary dumps of availability. Or they're using different software than the other 2 restaurants because they now have to count Disney's reservation system into the mix and they still haven't gotten the hang of it.

Hi
I honestly tried to read as much as I could in this thread but can't find what I am looking for.

I would like to make reservations or an afternoon tea and dessert visit. Is that possible.

I see when I look on the Disney web site that *snack* is available to reserve up till Jan 18th.

My visit is in Feb.2025.

So is *snack* the only thig that is currently available to reserve?

If there is a full menu available?
And can it be reserved?

There are not many places I can go due to a food allergy and just want to be safe
and review the Menu.

Thanks for your help

Mel

@bababear_50

Contact CBS directly to make an ADR for afternoon tea. It’s considered an event so you will speak with the event manager or department. The number is
1.407.574.3040

Go to MDE to see the full menu and make a reservation for breakfast, lunch or dinner. You can also reserve at OpenTable.

You can also buy deserts only at the attached bakery.

Reading between the lines, they probably learned through experience that it’s needed to protect their business from last-minute cancellations.
But there are other places at WDW that require pre-payment and have cancellation deadlines. It doesn't seem like you'd need a contract for that. I suspect it has more to do with the CBS Powers That Be being very particular about decor, and they don't want groups mucking that up by bringing bric-a-brac.

Making a reservation, clicking is agreement to Disney's terms and conditions.

CBS calls it a contract. It's crystal clear the terms are different then a restaurant reservation. Gives CBS a better defense against charge backs.

Just looked again. And now no reservations are showing at all on OT, for party of 2 or 4. Not even back to a week only.
Hmm, I am seeing availability for parties of 2 all the way through Dec. 19th on the OpenTable app. Are you using the OpenTable app or the web interface?

Used both. Checked again right now & still getting no availability for 2 or 4 on either one. When I saw the wide open availability last night it was on the app.

Edit..OMG! I just went back & checked again & it’s showing the full availability I saw last night. And it was showing nothing 5 minutes ago. Beyond strange.

Yep, getting that now but I wasn’t before.
Do you happen to close the OpenTable app or just dismiss it?

When I am checking I always start with a new instance of the app so any cache data is released but this availability is definitely odd.

“Snack” - This is for the bakery part. There is one for the restaurant to make reservations on MDE App. OpenTable was really wonky for me but I did get a reservation through Disney App.

I originally had an Open Table reservation at 11:15 am on a Thursday during our trip. My husband groaned about the time so I said I could go alone. Then MDE loaded reservations, and I was fortunate to get one on Tuesday at 8 pm for two. I canceled the first one.

I decided to invite a friend who will be in WDW at the same time; I was able to change the number of guests from 2 to 3 and keep the same date and time.

And just like that all availability on OT is now gone for all dates, party sizes, and times.

Does anyone know if you can add another guest to your reservation? Going from 4 to 5?
