We don’t typically think about money when deciding where to stay, with convenience and charm being the top criterion— we always stayed at BC (occasionally BWI when BC wasn’t available) because of its proximity one park and boat transport to another. The monorail is not that convenient, especially if you have to enter/exit parks at rush hour. These customers will likely be staying at GF, Poly and CR as they place a prestige/importance of seeing the castle and being close to MK. These same customers do not like hassles thus convenience is key. Booking a Minivan to CBS for one meal. Absolutely. If CBS was located within walking distance and/or on the monorail, they would likely visit multiple times in one trip.
Are you in the Midwest or East? I wonder if this is regional. A lot of West Coast Disney fans prefer being close to Epcot/DHS because we see MK as a mostly inferior clone of Disneyland.I am not saying this is the sole clientele on the monorail line. I am saying a larger percentage of big spenders stay on the monorail line than at other on-site locations.
This is my impression also. In addition to being more appealing to Californians, the parks around Crescent Lake appeal more to adults and families with older kids—presumably CBS doesn’t want the toddler and preschool crew as much as it wants tweens, teens, and adults.Maybe.
Groups that are either only adults or those with older kids might prefer to be in the DS/EP area. I know a bunch of families like this. They can afford to stay wherever they want, whenever they want, without thinking about it twice, and nearly always stay in one of the Crescent Lake spots.
It is not clear to me that there is necessarily a means-gap between the BW/BC/YC crowd and the GF/Poly/CR folks.
I would expect everything in Orlando to be 20-30% higher than it is in Indiana, isn’t it? But also, CBS may want to affirmatively discourage people from bringing young kids who don’t appreciate elegant dining, and feel the best way to do is by pricing everything higher.Silly markup on the noodles and the PB&J for sure. Looks like they are trying to price all the kids meals (except salmon) $18 at Boardwalk, for whatever reason.
Exclude the noodles and PB&Js, all the other kids meals are only being marked up 12-15% from the Carmel shop.
