Cake Bake Shop at the BoardWalk is now open

These customers will likely be staying at GF, Poly and CR as they place a prestige/importance of seeing the castle and being close to MK. These same customers do not like hassles thus convenience is key. Booking a Minivan to CBS for one meal. Absolutely. If CBS was located within walking distance and/or on the monorail, they would likely visit multiple times in one trip.
We don’t typically think about money when deciding where to stay, with convenience and charm being the top criterion— we always stayed at BC (occasionally BWI when BC wasn’t available) because of its proximity one park and boat transport to another. The monorail is not that convenient, especially if you have to enter/exit parks at rush hour.
I am not saying this is the sole clientele on the monorail line. I am saying a larger percentage of big spenders stay on the monorail line than at other on-site locations.
Are you in the Midwest or East? I wonder if this is regional. A lot of West Coast Disney fans prefer being close to Epcot/DHS because we see MK as a mostly inferior clone of Disneyland.
Maybe.

Groups that are either only adults or those with older kids might prefer to be in the DS/EP area. I know a bunch of families like this. They can afford to stay wherever they want, whenever they want, without thinking about it twice, and nearly always stay in one of the Crescent Lake spots.

It is not clear to me that there is necessarily a means-gap between the BW/BC/YC crowd and the GF/Poly/CR folks.
This is my impression also. In addition to being more appealing to Californians, the parks around Crescent Lake appeal more to adults and families with older kids—presumably CBS doesn’t want the toddler and preschool crew as much as it wants tweens, teens, and adults.
Silly markup on the noodles and the PB&J for sure. Looks like they are trying to price all the kids meals (except salmon) $18 at Boardwalk, for whatever reason.

Exclude the noodles and PB&Js, all the other kids meals are only being marked up 12-15% from the Carmel shop.
I would expect everything in Orlando to be 20-30% higher than it is in Indiana, isn’t it? But also, CBS may want to affirmatively discourage people from bringing young kids who don’t appreciate elegant dining, and feel the best way to do is by pricing everything higher.

After looking into this place more, I absolutely believe they will have reservations booked for a few people with intent to split one piece of cake. The atmosphere, decor and experience alone will be a big draw for some guest. Too any of those type guest and it could become a price fixed meal as someone already mentioned.
It doesn’t have to go price fixed, it could also institute a minimum spend based on party size.

WOAH… This Californian absolutely prefers proximity to EP over MK. I never made the connection- but also 💯 MK is just ok because obviously DL is GOAT.

We would visit MK for the TTA and the holiday parties, but it was no more than a 1/2 day, maybe once per trip park until they opened up Tron and reopened the CBMJ.

I’m starting to wonder that this will be a success. We’re all looking at it from an “it’s so expensive” viewpoint, as a typical moderate WDW place where we can go in park clothes. Its price point is ridiculous, of course, but still below “Signature” venues (which are anything but), and might be a nice option for those looking for a nice night out for less than signature prices. And at least the food here won’t be pre-prepared in a warehouse behind Magic Kingdom and trucked in, if we’re to believe the company’s Mission Statement.

They're still hiring an awful lot of positions for the new location: everything from bakers to dish washers to servers to supervisors. Source is Cake Bake Shop website, tab CAREERS.

Just out of curiosity… do you have any supporting data that the big spenders are on the monorail line and not at the Epcot resorts? Any supporting data would be extremely helpful in analyzing your comments.

We have DVC at GFV, CC, and BWV. Experientially… 🤔

Sorry, I will not be giving descriptions of the people I know on social media as that would be betraying confidences.

So everyone who stays at monorail resorts is rich because they’re on social media and say they’re rich?? So if I read it on social media it must be true? Not! :lmao:

I don't think you understood my statement. I said I would not be giving descriptive information on social media of the people I know who are the big budget/no budget spenders who stay on the monorail line.

I did. Still doesn’t prove your statement. I’m guessing you don’t know everyone who stays on the monorail line or at Crescent Lake resorts. Maybe people you know with money prefer monorail resorts. That doesn’t make it an actual fact.
