Cake Bake Shop at the BoardWalk is now open

We mostly stay at the monorail resorts. Recently stayed amongst the commoners at BC and it was dreadful - never again! :goodvibes

(for those that don't know my posting style, that's a joke BTW)

Admittedly I've taken a few of jabs at this place along the way, personally I don't get the name (I think it's potentially confusing on a mass marketing level) and I have my questions on the location. The absurdly long construction timeline has perhaps put a brighter spotlight on CBS than it deserves as the build-up of suspense from our small minority of WDW visitor community has had too much time to brew (although from what I understand there was potentially extensive back of house work that had to occur not readily apparent from the outside that played a role).

But I get the potential appeal and prices, so long as the quality and service back it up. The prices are higher than most WDW-property options, but in line with what you'd pay for food/beverage at nearby 'higher end' resorts , eg, Four Seasons, the new Evermore Conrad Hotel (do not stay here if you're concerned about food prices!), Bull & Bear at the Waldorf, etc, etc. If CBS can deliver on food, service, and experience, I can start to understand it more.

The restaurant business is ruthless - competition is fierce, costs are high, consumers have options. I do wish it well and will look for a special occasion to give it a try. WDW is at its best when all of its possible shops and restaurants are open and delivering quality experiences, especially highly-visible locations like this and the Boardwalk often seeming to be somewhat in a state of finding its identity. And I will always be a fan of a variety of options up and down the price and experience scale.

TLDR - Count me in for the $37 "Goblet of Frose Rose" in the souvenir rose gold goblet. Look for me showing it off to everyone as I cruise the highway in the sky back to my monorail resort. 😂😇

as someone who is generally unphased by most WDW bubble pricing, i feel like i would be actively angry and indignant if i paid these prices. also this feels super out of the way for a glorified dessert shop (tho people trek from far and wide for B&C, which i never understood) yet too niche to be a reliable option for BW area guests who are always hurting for good QS options.

I just looked at the reservations for Carmel IN for my annual trip to CBS doesn’t look like I can get a table in December when I want.
I’m going to the dining room at RH at Dehaan mansion in a few weeks, so this can be my 1 big splurge. It is pricey!!
Random thought, I hope that the bathroom situation at CBS in WDW is better than the one in Carmel. It is very very small but beautiful and there are a few things that need to be fixed in the ladies room. I only go 1 time a year and the same things that need fixed are still there. Obviously we aren’t putting money into the bathrooms. LOL

Are you telling me the strategy of hiring in March for a job someday, eventually, didn’t work out?
Hadn't thought of that. Does leave me to wonder how much staff they require to open and sustain expected service while filling open positions.

My DD was at the enchanted rose at the GF at the end of august and had inquired about someone working and was told that person was in IN getting trained for the CBS, if I remember correctly it was for a management position.

Wonder how many tables for four... will show up and order four waters and one slice of cake.
I have seen this done at the Carmel store, at one time if you just did dessert you could have table for 45 minutes. I don’t know if they still do this or not, I couldn’t find anything when I go to the reservations site.

Found some more videos from inside the CBS. You can see some food options and cake slices as well. First one gives her thoughts after trying some of the food.

Thanks for the links, this place looks very nice to me. I agree a bit expensive but it's still someplace I want to try at least once.

Please don't throw any cake at me for this question and I'm guessing at these prices that won't happen. Is this place open yet? If not do we have an opening date? Yes, as you can see, I'm behind on my reading and I do apologize for that. Thanks for any info you can supply.

They had a private event recently so imagine they’ll be open at least by Thanksgiving.
